The Violet Fungus is a human sized mushroom with 4 poisoned tentacles and a base with rootlike feelers. They are usually found in the Underdark in the company of Shriekers. See Readme for revision history.
I agree about the animations. I always wanted to do something better with the "legs" as well. This was one of the first models I ever did and some of the first animating I attempted. Time for an update.
I really like these, but the animation on some things, like the idle animation need some work. If you don't fix it, I might after I figure that part out.
I'll vote on it if the animations get fixed.

This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 9 that made this score of 8.23.

Heh, glad to see I didn't scare everyone off with my last comment. ;-)
Glad you like my stuff. Thanks for the vote, juleslawrence and slangli also.

Incidentally your stuff is cool, especially the stirge. Classics hack n slash low level dungeony goodness, just like nana used to make.

Uploaded the update today. Check tomorrow for the update
with the .tga texture in it.
Posted by Robin ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-03-02 13:19:00
In one of the earlier versions - your readme mentioned the
c_violet_fungus.tga (256x256) texture.
Is it possible for you to release that tga texture so the
creature is can be used by those who are running in 16-bit
compatibility mode?
Thanks!

Yep, those 2da entries can be a pain sometimes. I bet it
was the MODELTYPE entry in the appearance.2da. Oh yeah, I
just remembered when I first started testing the
animations in game I had the wrong entry in there and I
couldn't see any animations. Drove me nuts trying to
figure out what was wrong.
Glad things worked out. Thanks again for your comments.

Lathspell,
I fixed it. Yeah, and I love it even more now. Hats off
to youuself and Wydraz.
I'm not exacly sure what was causing the animations not to
play. I extracted the fungus files out of my Monster hak,
(i.e. po_vfungus) and the portraits file. Then dropped the
brand new ones I got from the vault into my Monster hak...
still didn't work.
All right I say, I look in the appearence .2da file of my
Monster hak and erase the Fungus entry an copy and paste
from the new .2da and it works.
...which leads me to believe that I had all of the right
files but an old .2da entry that wasn't a match... hell I
don't know. That was the way it happened though. :)
Thanks for all you replys and keep up the outstanding
work. We need more low level creature for the game like
Violet Fungus, Shrieker and Stirge.

Lathspell,
I found something else that's acting up now too. First
off, let me start by saying I love the model and work
you've done.
That being said, now I'm not only experiencing no animation
with the tendrils at the Fugus's base, but it's "arms"
don't swing and attack no either. They just sit there and
drip purple poison goo (cool effect by the way). I'm being
damaged by them, but theirs no walk or attack animation.
Mabey I do have the old one. I'll go to the vault and redo
the whole thing to be certain, and will post back here and
let you know. :)

NIZ,
This is strange. I haven't gotten any other feedback about
this. Seems like nobody likes to leave comments except
you. They're appreciated btw. If it's broke and nobody
says anything then I don't know to fix it. I don't know if
an isolated bug or if anyone else who's downloaded it has
the same problem.
Anyway, What about other animations such as while in
combat? I erased all the files in my nwn folders,
downloaded and installed the files again. When I played
the DEMO mod there was obvious tendril movement as they
came towards me to attack. In the older version of the
model it did appear to float across the ground. Are you
sure you don't have the old version installed by mistake?
Send me a screenshot, system info, game settings, bug
report, etc.
Also, the animation video you saw was slower than the in-
game animations. They aren't going to look exactly the
same. I also didn't animate each individual tendril for
each animation. A lot of times they were grouped together
into front and back groups. Even so there is still obvious
bending and flexing in the tendrils for practically every
animation I did.
Give me more info either through email or on here and I'll
try to help you out the best I can .
Posted by NIZ ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-01-28 15:11:00
That's exactly what happens. It just floats across the
ground. The little tendrils at the base don't move
independently like the video. After seeing the animation
video of the Fungus , I thought it was suppoased to be that
way in the hak as well.
Posted by Lathspell ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-01-28 06:08:00
Not sure what you mean by "no animation for
it's "feet"??". Please be more specific. Do you see no
movement at all and the model just sort of floats across
the ground? Please explain further.
Thanks

I tried the hak out, but there was no animation for
it's "feet"???
Posted by Lathspell ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-01-27 15:50:00
Yes, the model has all the animations except for the spell
casting ones. Also, I'm going to update the picture as I
have changed the model somewhat.
Posted by NIZ ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-01-27 14:53:00
Wow! That looks great. Is the fungus animated like that
now with the hak you download?
Posted by NIZ ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-01-27 01:58:00
Lathspell,
...are you working on animating it's little feet-things?
Seems like I saw a demo of this somewhere, but I can't
remember where.

Yes Lathspell, I have the same problem!
Posted by Lathspell ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-10-27 14:06:00
Is anyone out there having problems with the module or hak
file? Specifically if you play the module, exit to main
menu, and try and load it again. It seems to crash the game
on the second load. It's happened to me with this hak, my
shrieker hak, as well as modules using Haelix's Owlbear,
CODI's Marilith(haven't tried the latest) and Zarathustra's
Beholder-in-a-Box.

Exactly what we need, more Underdark fauna/flora! Very cool
looking. I hope you consider doing more Underdark stuff,
all of your stuff works really well.
Vegepygmys rock! ;p
Maybe some Myconids would be cool, if you don't hate doing
mushrooms yet! :D
