New phenotype wings is added to module so you can create your own half-dragons, alu-fiends, or just winged planar creatures for your modules. Includes new base models and human/elf male/female modles for the phenotype. Note that the picture is of the half-fiends from the planar hak I have uploaded. Winged models for the human/elf characters look just the same minus the hoofs. Just normal legs.
This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 4 that made this score of 10.00.

I've noticed that when this hack is used w\ the SOU expansion, the new spells and stuff disappear...is there going to be an update which makes this comply with the expansion anytime soon?

BANG!
Stupid halloween recording...
Anyway, can someone get ahold of Devon V, or Devon V himself and have him/ you send me an email of what exactly LETO is and how to get it, please?

Nice mod/hak, but it'd be much more useful if it worked on all races. This was just what I needed, except I need it for half-orcs.

How long does it usually take the vault to update? It's been two days now, is that normal?
Posted by Devon V ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-05-25 14:03:00
There are three haks, wingbasemodel, halfdragon and planar. Wingbasemodel.hak is used to animate the wings for the other two; Halfdragon.hak has the Dragonkin models and textures, along with the PC parts for creating your own demi-fiends;
and Planar.hak has all the outsiders' models and textures.
The half-fiend phenotype was an experement that didn't work out, there aren't any models to go with it. It's probably going to be replaced with the angelic wings phenotype once the vault updates the new file.

*kills himself*
Can't believe how stupid I was.
I associated the wingbasemodel hak and a 'planar' hak I had wich I think someone else made -_-
Now I use the wingbasemodel and halfdragon hak it works fine. Thanks this is really great!
Strangely the half-fiend phenotype is invisible. Can't say I care though. Also all the planar things (wolfs, planetars etc) have no texture (they look completely white)
except for the skirts of the Dragonkind. Don't care much about that either, I really wanted the wings.
Thanks man

What I mean is it won't work at all, not even in the toolset. The dropdown thing for phenotype still only has large/normal.
Posted by Devon V ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-05-25 01:10:00
I noticed something else during my tests. The wings do not cast shadows and are uneffected by fog. (They are always visible as with emitters.) I'm guessing that this is a issue with the way the renderer handles supermodels, but just in case there's something in the MDL itself that effects that, I thought I'd mention it. This stuff rocks nonetheless, really looking forward to the feathered wings.
Posted by Devon V ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-05-24 23:25:00
Oh, and the heads. You need the pxx3_headx.mdls, the game won't default load those.
Posted by Devon V ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-05-24 23:23:00
It won't work during character creation, but after you create the character, exit NWN, load LETO, open your character.bif, switch to the Advanced Editor and look for the Phenotype entry and change it to "3" for the demon/dragon wings. The new angel wings will probably be phenotype 4. The resulting character will be playable in any mod with the halfdragon hak. If you dump the phenotypes.2da, pmh3, pme3, pfe3 & pfh3 files along with the aw_* files into the override (don't bother with all the pmh3_* etc files, the game doesn't need them, only the toolset) you will have winged PCs in all mods. I've tested this, it works, even in the OC.
Keep in mind that using this on a PC will mess up _ALL_ environment mapping in the game, (except for weapons, oddly) not just yours, so some things may look funky. (You can always turn EV mapping off, which will restore everything to solid form, minus shine, naturally.)

Alright im probably an idiot posting this...but HOW do you apply the wings to creatures? You say a new phenotype? I still only see the normal/large phenotype.
Or is this only for the models you made? For the planetars?

Thanks for that, this is a great hack!

Do to the interest in the angelic wings, I will make a new hak shortly. It will take me just a couple of hours to do it, so keep a look out for it when NWVault updates. I will have two more haks, one combo phenotype with both demonic/dragon and angelic, the other just angelic.

How do you use this to create PC's that are winged? Is it something that can be done with LETO?
Posted by Aglaril ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-05-24 00:52:00
amazing idea, this is just what i needed exept that i need angelical wings on elves :P i will try the suggestion of using the TGA of the planetar and see how that looks so i can make some avariel. also there IS a demonic elven subrace (Fey'ri) which i can now recreate thenks to this awesome wings! thanks a lot!!!
any chance of adding demonic tails? ;) thatll be like icing on the cake

Quick update. The below does NOT work with heads. Only body parts. You still have to copy/rename the heads to get them to work.
Also, as with any skin mesh on a PC, the environment mapping goes translucent, (why?) but it's a small price to pay. (And almost plays right into my half-human, quarter drow, quarter erinyes shadow sorcerer's look. :) )

I love this hack! I've been waiting for this ever since the initial exitement of the game wore off and I realized that there were no capes or wings or flying. :) I was fooling around, trying to get Lisa and Kinarr's haks working with this one, thinking about all the effort that it would take, when I discovered something really important; The game defaults to phenotype 0 if it can't find the right component. So, if you simply use the pxx3 supermodels without all the other files,
the pxx0 components are used instead by the game. (The toolset will give you blank graphics, but the game works.) I have winged PCs (with a little help from LETO) dressed in Lisa's clothes, wearing Kinarr's cloaks (which looks awful, but that's beside the point) and I didn't have to lift a finger.
Taking this into account, I'm thinking of trying to create two more phenotypes for Celestial and Erinyes wings. (Whoever drew the Planscape Erinyes portrait didn't read their Monster Manual, they have black feathered wings.) I have a decent feathered wing texture that I did for Freedom Force that might work well, provided I can learn how NWN texturing is done. :)
Just wanted to thank you for what you've done. Fabulous idea. Attatching the wings to the supermodel of an extra phenotype is brilliant.

I don't believe there is a way to do custom colors for the wings like you have for the other body parts. Since this is an add on body part, there is no way to customize the color within the toolset, hence no plt file. You could recolor the c_dmsucubus tga, or point the models to a different tga (you just have to change primary models for the races, pme3, pfe3, pfh3, and pmh3 and redirect them to the apporiate texture.) Of course once you have done this, all the wings will still be the same color, just a different one.
Now if you know what you are doing with modeling, you could change the elves and make avariels(spelling?), or winged elfs by changing the texture of the elf wings to that of the angel_wings.tga I have in the planar hak and use the lwing and rwing from the erinyes model on the base model for the pme3 and pfe3 models. I didn't need angel looking wings for my elves because I wanted a half dragon race of elves. Does any of this make sense?
Anyway, that is your answer on the coloring of wings.

NM, I'm an idiot. wrong HAK associated. Dude, this is the last thing I needed for my Ultima 7 remake. Now I can have ultima style Gargoyles. Thank you so much!!!!!!!
I'm lazy as f*ck but if you ever decide to allow custom coloring of the wings (which would require them to be an armor or chest variable I know) let me know. :)

there is no phenotype.2da in this hak, just 5 mdls. Being that the phenotype.2da doesn't reference model files, I'm not sure how to add these so that I get wings. Was this an oversite when you reuploaded it?
Posted by Chaoticstreams ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-05-23 06:07:00
Sorry about any confusion about this hak. There is just one phenotype, wings. I have updated the hak to reflect this. To make the change yourself without redownloading, edit the phenotype.2da and remove the last phenotype. I orginally had the hoofs in as a second custom phenotype, but changed my mind. I was unable to get the textures to work correctly because the needed to be plt files, and I hate working with textures. If someone wants to make me a couple of plt files for the shin and hoofs, I can add another phenotype to the hak. If you want hoofs and wings together, that would be a third phenotype making the hak somewhat large.
