HotU was required for several reasons:
1) The new monster models (particularly the beholders)
2) The new cutscene scripts
3) The Underdark tileset is really the only tileset capable of simulating mountainous terrain
4) Dresses and robes and sky-boxes!

I'm a Legend of Zelda fan, but DID YOU HAVE TO MAKE THE MODULE FOR HOTU???
Do you have both Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark installed? I created the hackpack with both expansions installed. That's the only reason I can see for the hackpack to not work. Even so, this is unexpected: all the hackpack does is add a few lines to the list of music files; it *should* work regardless of the game version.

im getting the error "Could not open file because it was created using a newer version of the toolset and/or game resources" im fully updated, and it says it works with all versions. I really wanted to play too =(
If you've already downloaded the v1.00 hackpack, don't worry about downloading v1.01. I've just renamed the .bmu files so they're easier to locate in the music directory. You can rename them manually according to the list given in the README that is included with the Zelda module (as soon as I update it).

I'm working on the next upgrade: but I'm afraid that I've forgotten how to script, and I must re-learn what I have learned.
Here's what I've accomplished so far: the easy stuff, like the look and general stats of the enemies, as well as the map layout and area transitions in the first dungeon.
All it needs now is a LOT scripting... oh, and the boots of speed (Pegasus Boots).

PlanKTonBoy,
I am downloading this hackpack now wvwn if it may already be part of what I have already. :D
Just out of curiosity, are there any more upgrades?
Just checking. :)
And please keep up the good work. ^_^

Little Billy, you don't have to download the hack to play the module. That's why I made the hackpack a separate download. It's purely optional for those who wish to play accompanied by the Zelda music in full orchestra.

It sounds like a really good hack im a big fan of zelda but come on man 26 mega bytes that take like 12 hours on my computer

"There's a new version of the module up now since you
posted."
Ignore that statement. The latest version was posted on
the 12th of January. For some reason I thought that was
the 16th. University has sucked away any and all sense of
time. >:X

Well, Jimm, I appreciate your comments, but please refrain
from using the Lord's name in vain. Don't worry about
bashing the module; already forgiven. Glad you liked it!
There's a new version of the module up now since you
posted. Sorry about my delay in replying; usually I just
check the module comments and the posts on the bioware
message boards (I have a thread in the 'modules' section
devoted to this module). That seems to be where most
people post their comments, so I haven't checked this board
for several weeks.
Hah! I'm laughing as I imagine what you wrote before you
played the module! (I'd actually be interested in reading
it!) What's your website address?

Vesselle, I figured out what your problem was. All the
files were valid, but you just forgot to turn off single-
player item level restrictions. Not reading the readme
will do that to you.
Posted by PlanKTonBoy ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-12-26 06:14:00
vesselle, which link are you referring to? All the
download links work correctly, and so does the link from
the module to this hackpack.
I just tested the module download, and the files are all
valid. See the module page for my theory as to why you
received an error.
Posted by vesselle ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-12-25 19:13:00
link doesn't work.
not to mention that i dislike having modules broken up into separate downloads. if it's not all in one, i won't do it.
:(
there's just too many good mods to play to haveta go around tracking down all the individual peices.
another thing that's very disheartening, is that your download on the other page is screwed up somehow. one of the files reports as "invalid". :(
