Hooray! finally the 2.0 version is finished! and I deem this one USABLE! I have redone all the textures, all seamless and nice and dark and gothic looking, done a lawn grass system that still doesnt look like its clean cut from the cobble, and a whole bunch of other stuff... just a few answers for the inevitable questions... Q: Can it work as an override? A: Yes, thats how I use it myself. Q: Does it work for the normal city? A: Yes, it overwrites the standard city exterior textures so you dont have to redo it. Also works with all city addons too. Q: WHY WONT IT WORK? A: Ummm... aliens? seriously, there is no bugs with the hakpak being unable to work. Thoroughly tested and its fine. Works in toolset and ingame perfectly. Q: Can i put it in my combo hakpak/ pw hakpak? A: I would rather you just gave a url to this page for the player to download, seeing as I update so often. If you do add it into a combo hak, email me so i can send you updates.

Amazing! Though the roads should be set to a different material, not every city in the world uses the same stone to create their buildings as well as their roads. Cost/beauty/whatever. If the roads could be made slightly different than everything else... And maybe the walls consisiting of a

This is a very cool hak, and I love that it overrides the default city exterior tileset (Don't have to remake areas) but would it be possible for the ground to be made out of a different stone than the buildings? Something that compliments them. I'm not certain if this hak is still being looked at, but I believe that would be an impressive feature! :)
At any rate, great work! Keep it up!

Well, I went through, and after about half an hour, I finished making the high-res textures into an override...once you get the right tools for it, it is actually quite easy...
alleys are in it already (of course) and i can make it compatible with any standard city addon pretty much instantly. When the file pops up post your requests on the page, and i will get them into the first update. ;)-----------------------------------

Well you beauty.
Now (cracks whip)... tell me it's compatible with both the alleys and ships.
...and its DONE! hoorah! come on, this way then here!?
Anyways...
Uploading the hakpak now. Tis a non replacing gothic city with all the previous missing texture bugs fixed.
I shall dub it... Ashtefere's Gothic City! haha!
has a nice ring to it.
Thanks for the support guys.-----------------------------------

...TOO huge... for now I will build a reskin of the MGS desert city hack to a gothic city so you guys have somethign to use. The other one would take me weeks :|
But the desert city should take a couple days, if not one night.
Keep your eyes peeled-----------------------------------

Well alrighty... just been browsing through all the city tilesets and stumbled across lodrezzons work... :O
I have no idea why i never saw it before.. but anyways...
I noticed he has created a nice superset, which, sadly has many textures that could be referenced to the same one, causing the filesize to drastically reduce. Also the textures are tga, also increasing size.
Sooooooo....
Im gonna download his SS Mirador city, and redo it basicly. Reference all the textures correctly, and make sure they are all dds, all using the textures you see in my pack, and a few more i have. I think, with a bit of work, i can reduce to under 10mb, and it will also have the same, if not more funcionality as the doa city rural builders pack.
Once this is done, Im pretty sure this wil be the best city tileset there is, all modesty aside, cos the mirador city is AWESOME...
Thanks to lodrezzon for making such uber tilesets, and I hope to do something that will make you proud...
The DOA CR reskin will be the final, and should be used for replacing the default nwn city. The one i am currently doing will be the non replacing one.
Wish me luck!

Gah, actually... more important than that, would be of no use to me if these changes stop me using the ship haks... as my main town is also a port. Ain't going back to using just the Bioware one.
As always man, great work, and thanks for sharing whatever you do.

Well that will sort my problems out.
As far as requests go I think the real biggie for me would be stained-glass windows, though obviously not throughout. I dunno whether it would be possible, but maybe you could dump the evil castle tiles (which you do not appear to have changed and were always shite anyway) and replace them with a church/abbey-like exterior with said windows and generally gothic architecture.
Yeah perhaps it is. Im taking a look now, and I will dupe the tileset myself, but the duped tileset wont work for doa city rural (no way in hell im duping that tileset... way too big) but I will add some features to my tileset to make it as functional, if not more so.
I hope to have it up tomorrow or the next day, after my team of monkeys finish tesing it. Any special requests you would like to see included in it? besides the alleys? post away and ill throw it in.
Again, thanks for all the support guys... front page 3 days in a row, never thought it would be this popular.
I might make a series, next on the list is a special interior with higher walls and a roof, any request on that too would be appreciated. (apart from the obvious, like having totally blank rooms)
K guys, thanks again!-----------------------------------

Ah, right... would this be why I'm getting half white stone gatetowers? Because I'm just over-writing the Bioware city and not the DOA one?
Ok guys, i figured out why the override thingy wont work...
Override only recognises the tga's, so when you have the tga in there its low rez, not the old high rez ones.
Also, the tileset was meant to be a reskin to the doa city rural, not the standard city (but it does it) because the doa city rural doesnt have its own textures.
I would be happy if someone else could do a stand alone tileset, cos if they do i can expand it further... much further... ;)
I have a bunch of gothic tiles and stuff i could add in, but i dont have time to do the tileset duping cos i am working on a mmorpg tc for nwn, sooo....
if someone wants to do this, I can do ALL the city textures instead of just the main ones, and i will also add the castle construction set to it, retexturing that aswell, and the alleys (which work with it) and a few custom tiles of my own (one of which is a road/walkway sorta thing for a main street) so that would basicly be 3.0 :D
Whoever wants to do the tileset dupe, post here, and add me to your msn so you can send it, and ill get to work expanding it. Thanks for your support guys... lets go for the hall of fame with this one ;)-----------------------------------

It would be great if this can be turned into a stand-alone tileset without having the need of overriding the tileset that this is based on.
The reason for that is so you can have two settings, one that looks very "light", but as you progress farther into the module, it gets darker and darker, giving it a dark feel... Not sure if this made sense...
Anyway, it would be great if you were to do that...
Wow. Absolutly stunning. A truely beautilful peice of work from an abid lover of the Gothic style. Keep up the fantastic work.

Menehirion: This is a pure texture hak, it will modify the look of any Tileset which uses the original bioware textures, like DOA's City/Rural builder (which incodently includes allys) or the default bioware tileset.
Slashstar: If you want something along those lines you'll probably need to grab the tileset duplicator to make a copy of the city tileset and then rename all the textures in this hak to fit the new tileset, it's not a huge ammount of work but can be tricky if you don't know how.
Thi is a very nice tileset remake and I would love to use it but, can this be made so that it overwrites nothing?

Hey very nice to see this done. Just one question though, if its used in override is it compatible with alleys, as I find it impossible to make true cities without alleys. If not anychance we could have an alley version of this?
Posted by Anonymous ( 217.79.xxx.xxx ) at 2004-05-31 06:15:00
Not all the textures are replaced so in a few places it does look slightly odd, worse if your players carry around there own light source so the bigher texture show up even brighter.
But hey version 3 is due out in 20 seconds *smiles* Only pulling ya leg, but damn this hakpak's been on the front page for the last 3 updates, going for the world record :)

Are there meant to be white bands of stone around the gatehouse towers? or am I doing something wrong?
I've always just added this as a hak in the module properties.
I do like the bigger flagstones with moss in the cracks, very nice.
