I absolutely love this textureset, but it would be great if it had the StreetGateway, the DOAStairs1-3, and the DOACityGate.

I downloaded this hak because I liked the idea and I tried it out in my module. Wow, this is great! This is exactly the look I was picturing in my mind. Great job!!!
Look for this tileset in the Rise of Thouhgald in the weeks to come!

Posted by Ashtefere at 2004-06-13 10:24:00
alrighty...

my next tileset reskin is almost done, and goes for a more ruined, run down fantasy gothic feel, looks different from the cluttered gothic city feel of this one, and is entirely stand alone...

will post soon.-----------------------------------

this works on all versions of nwn, all patches, all expansions... no problems.
Most standalone tilesets do.
I dont have either of the expansions at home purely because i dont NEED them... generally any graphical content bioware make REALLY sucks (no offence mr B... its just real bad) and their tilesets arent the best out there.
Also, the way they make players who have an expansion able to play with players without one may SEEM all well and good, but basicly gives em a massive advatage. The expansions, in general, are a joke... they should have made them as patches instead, and offered the campaigns as free addons (but then no-one would have dled them... cos... guess what? yup.. they're bad too...) I aint dissing bioware or anything... well i am, its just NWN in general doesnt have the feel of a professionally developed game. The engine feels like its unfinished, and still in beta to me.
So thats why we are here! the community. My mod (which this tileset was made for (amongst some others) gets rid of almost all standard content.
Everything i do works on all versions of nwn, with or without any expansions, with or without CEP, just so everyone can use it.
Why? cos i actually CARE about the players... :P

and before you go getting annoyed at me dissing bioware shuttup cos ill flame your +blocked+ off the planet. Compare nwn's first release to a game like... say... hitman 2. Now compare the bugs, the graphical detail, the performance.
NWN looks like its a hack job by a group of drunken monkeys. The difference in genres is irrelevant, cos i aint talking about that. Im talking about the engine code and texturing, the art.

Thats my rambling for today.-----------------------------------

Erm.. this was built for HotU and works fine with it... read the details above.

If you were to upgrade this for *HotU* 1.62, that'd generally be appreciated, thanks.

Yes, I checked... this is the updated file. Cheers.

i know i uploaded it, but maybe its having the 'name problem' it has.. in which case it will take a couple days... unless you mean it hasnt shown up on the main page.. which is because i updated THIS hakpak and not posted a new one, so try downloading the hak again.

The vault has ticked over twice since your last post, Ash. Maybe the upload didn't go through :-/

I'm all for fantasy-gothic and everything medieval. I can't wait. :D"Back in the box, ye wild 2da little beasties!"

Okey-dokey.

Posted by Ashtefere at 2004-06-04 08:56:00
No need to fret frayne, the update has been uploaded, waiting for the vault to tick over.
As far as the next tileset is concerned, it will prolly be a LOT different... it will go from renaisance age gothic, as i was originally intending, to a more fantasy gothic which will be a lot more exaggerated and aggressive in its stylings, so in effect they will be 2 entirely different styles. So yeah, build away with this without a worry, update 1.1 is uploaded and should show up soon, and its final as it will get i think.-----------------------------------

:-)

Have those little fixes to this one been uploaded yet?

Only downside to your frankly phenominal workrate is it leaves me wondering if I should put in a load of work building with his tileset if something better is gonna come out in a couple of days, heh.

Posted by Ashtefere at 2004-06-04 06:59:00
OK, i was thinking about the 'next level' comment by blue eternal, and i started digging around...
Anyways, I spotted the 'Elven City' Tileset by little baron, and noticed it was kinda like a citdel set...
So I am mucking around a bit, and Im gonna create a new gothic set based on that. Keep your eyes peeled for it, cos it will look a lot better... with my previous work rate as an example, i estimate a day or two till its uploaded.

Ashtefere,

I went ahead and added the mini maps and they tested good. Your set was also missing the edge file which I added and tested good.
::
I added agc01doors.2da and agc01 configuration setting files (I don't know what either of these two do, but I have noticed them in other builders work, so I added them) NOTE: the agc01doors.2da is not the same as the doortypes.2da...like I said I don't know what the agcdoors.2da does though.
::
I think everything is ok with your set now with the exception of the name someone wanted changed in the .set and the trans door on the cave entrance being 90 degs off.
::
If you want any of this stuff I added sent to you, just email me benjaminwho@[NOSPAM]hotmail.com

The darkness looks good and certainly makes it FEEL gothic, but how about living fully to the name and making the buildings look more like the gothic architechture like the cathedrels and castles of that time period.

Posted by FRAYNE ( 82.195.xxx.xxx ) at 2004-06-02 14:11:00
Marvelous, this is spot on. Your timing could not have been better either as I wanted my existing town areas to stay bright but was looking for something darker for the town I was about to start. Now I got no excuse but to get on with building it, heh.

Hi Ashtefere!! :)

Please be aware that the members of the CTP (Community Tileset Pack) Team have taken particular interest with your City Exterior reskins; likewise, Bloodmonkey of our CTP Team has specifically asked me to request your involvement with our staff of custom contenters.

The purpose of the CTP (Community Tileset Pack) Team is to create a cohesive pack of the community's top tilesets, which will be intentioned for universal download among the NWN community; this is so all PWs and modules may jointly use a singular and cohesive tileset hakpak that will allow full access to all NWN community members, without having to download additional hak content on their part.

We'd like to specifically invite you to participate in the formation of new tileset content, which will be exclusive to the CTP (Community Tileset Pack) final release.

Interested? :)

Ash,

Thanks for doing this. It looks great! I think the mini-maps are messed up though. There doesn't seem to be any, other than for the alleys. Also the trans/door on the "Cave Entrance" under "Features" is 90 degs off.

Again, keep up the good work, it is very much appreciated.
