Every Fiend I could find, several tilesets and a ton of other stuff. The hak is for the WYRMS WRATH v1.00 module. Most of the content came with .erf files and portraits that are not included with this hak. If you intend to use this hak elsewere you may want to pull the orginal source for specific Read me details and/or supplemental materials that are not included with this combo hak. The appearence.2da file is for NWN v1.29 and you can still use it with v1.30 or higher, you just will not be able to use any of the new creatures added to v1.30 unless you modify the various .2da files. For a complete listing of what is included and credit see the read me link.

I dont see what the fuss is, its 100 megs, big deal. I'm confused as to how people get there info. I just spent about 20 minutes on google looking for the statistics that show how many people on what bandwidth download what size hakpaks. I fail to find them. The type of arguement I see below is common, assumption that most people are like you and dont like something. Show some hard facts on the download habits of any reasonable amount of the community, and I'll have a little more sympathy. Until then you can live by a simple rule. Download it, or don't. I don't see whats so complex about that. Try and also keep in mind that "no news is good news" is a cliche FOR A REASON. It's ussually true, and speaking for myself, I'm far more willing to make a post when something DOESN'T work or pisses me off than when it goes without a hitch...

OS&VD - I did not realize the community issue with large HakPak downloads as well. But I guess if you are downloading a large number of games and each has a large pak you could start to be annoyed. I appreciate the combined aspect of the download and the size did not bother me, but I think you have recieved a number of good suggestions for the future. Looking forward to your next version...

Sorry for sounding so harsh at first.
To let you know, I've looked at your module in the tileset and I'm pretty interested to see how it flows ... I'll be running one of my favorite characters through (Monk/Assassin/Shadowdancer) so we'll see how it goes from there. I have a buttload of school stuff to take care of but I'll run through the mod this wed or thursday (maybe friday --- depends, have another project due on the 4th ... ugh) But I'll give you my opnion on it. I'm looking forward to seeing the updated mod.

Just curious, There aren't that many areas in the mod that use the 10-in-1 pack ... There were a few but the tilesets used were: Grains of Sand, Valley, and C/R w/Grass ...
Do you have SoU? If so, you can kill the Grains of Sand tileset ... but if you just dropped the 10-in-1 and put in just these three tilesets you used, you would drop the size of this hak tremendously ... If you were to re-do the C/R w/ Grass areas (2 of them) think about using DOA's City/Rural hak ... it has many more features available.
I see you put parts in the hak, that's cool. I do suggest that if you do split this up, that you put the cloaks/pc parts/heads up as one seperate hak it's a good idea the way you combined them.
All the other additions can be left as seperate haks though. Any shared 2da/set/door stuff that describes overridden behavior should go into a small hak that has the same name as your module though.
Yes, I downloaded the hak so I could look at the module ... It is an interesting look so far ... Alot of demons and such.
I can do a review of your mod if you'd like (combo hak does not influence content of mod) ... as it looks interesting enough for me to play ...

Exactly what guesswork is there? You get a list of Hak packs with links to the files. You download the files. You put the Hak packs in your hak folder.
You do that now, only with a huge hak pack.
Hey, whatever floats your goat, If you want to spend all that time downloading a big hak, that's cool. I'm still going to try and get a campaign to kill these combo haks off ... they are unnecessary these days. I for one would like to not have to spend 2-3 hours all at once downloading a hak (I have broadband) ... Imagine all those 56k users? 14-28 hours? At least with smaller, multiple haks, you can pick and choose when you want to d/l them.
OS&VDM ... I'll d/l your mod and fix it right as I believe I have all the haks you combined. Hope it's good.

I for one don't mind seeing module specific comined haks... at least the author made the effort to combine the haks to take out as much guesswork as possible for the casual player.
Yes, now that we can use multiple haks files at once many people prefer that... but c'mon! Don't damn the man for trying to be, oh I don't know... HELPFUL!!!
Huzzah to you OS&V, don't let them bother you... if they want to spend their time cussing you rather than playing, all the power to them...
I for one am downloading this HAK now and plan to enjoy every megabyte it takes....

Excalibur - There is a detailed list of content in the Read me that notes all the individual haks used with their vault address. Unfortunatly the module will only look for Bighak92903 and a pop up will fire at the load of the module if you do not have this particular hak. I knew that the hak size would be a deterant but decided to post it anyway. I assure you that if there is not a positive responce to the module and a decent amount of downloads then I will update it without the Bighak92903 but with all the individual haks and a .2da override hak. Thank you for the comment, and for taking the time to concider playing the mod.

My apologies, I decided to look at your readme (Read the readme ... hehe) Anyhoo ... You do not need to combine the majority of these haks. I would indeed suggest pulling out the appropriate 2da files and merging those. Place them in a hak which would then only be ~100k *at the most* and release that with the list of haks you used.
I'd like to start a campaign to wipe the vault of any and all of these combined haks they are a plague and a nuisance now ...

People still don't get it. If the Haks do not play well together, release one small, teenie, tiny hak with the updated 2da files or whatnot ... Things that will have some problems with this are heads, body parts, and weapons (for the most part.) ...
With the ability to use several small haks instead of one huge one, there is absolutely no reason why there should be these monstrosities.
It is FAR FAR FAR easier to download 12-15 small hak packs at 500kb-2mb each than it is to download one 100mb hak. Especially for those who do not have broadband connections. By releasing a module that requires a hak of this size, you are almost ensuring that your module will not be downloaded by a vast majority of people who do partake in user created modules.
My diatribe is over. If you want me to check out your module, please give me a list of all the haks that you combined and I'll think about getting them if I don't already have them and look at your module.

Your comment is valid, and I agree that the vault is loaded with a ton of large combos. BIighak92903 is intended to be used for a module and the combining of all various haks would allow 1 big download instead of 12-14 small to medium ones. For any future project, I will post a modules hak/haks in parts (say one hak for creatures, one for tiles and one for other content) since multiple custom content is now supported (when I started the module build you couldn't).

Steel_Wind - I appreciate the sentiment but I am not sure how this is the author of this Haks fault (since that is how it reads) - most haks do not currently play together, and while we all wait for CEP to deliver - I am not sure what you percieve the alternative is for module custom content??
Posted by Steel_Wind ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-11-21 22:41:00
That's what we need - another 100 meg combo pack instead of allowing people to use multiple haks and save themselves - oh - 90 megs of downloads.
*throws hands up in disgust*
