Category  Combos - All-In-One

Description
This hakpak is still an alpha version. It is based on greek era.

New skirts (robes),armour, helmets, swords( longswords), greek shields ( tower shields), shins, forearms, shoulders, and a decent spear, with 2da changes to make spears one-handed. I hope you guys like it. Next step... make all the armour stuff for feminine and all playable character types.

This is very useful, not only for greek theme.
My npc's now have a more Baldur's Gate type of look to them, very nice.

This is a fantastic set; exactly what I was looking for - any word on when the update for CEP 1.50 compatibility is coming? At the moment it overrides the nice classical togas in there that would fit with it so well!

Keep up the fantastic work!

Last info about the hackpack...
It works well with last CEP version, but overrides some 2da files. Next update will recover CEP patch 2da's.
To use this hakpak, put it in the hak folder, and in the aurora toolset, make a new module, add CEP custom hakpak files, and on top of it, the fangfeymim hakpak.
After this just go on exploring the new material available.
Next update will carry an erf file and a demo module for easy view.

Hi, this is a great hakpak. Unfortunately, with the new CEP it does not work. I really wish it did.. any chance you will be making this compatible?

Posted by trooper9 at 2004-10-21 07:04:00
Sigh.
I wonder why are these pals waisting time boasting and bringing down other's works... They claim of great knowledge, but they keep waisting time in here. Go read a book or something. If you don't like it, just say so, no need for that kind of talk.
As i said, shortswords are not the same as one handed swords.
Longswords are not one and a half-swords. Greek swords were one-handed, usually short bladed, but not less deadly. And that's why i keep them in longswords. Cause no halfling could wield a greek sword properly with only one hand.

Remember, to become light, one must bring no shadows along.

Oh and I still cnat get this hak to work oh well i bet its dumb anyway...

I have no clue still how to use it do yuo mean I put in tthe module folder- there is only one "HAK" folder in my neverwinternigt directory- this is where i put all the haks i get to play the modules- and it worked ok so far so I have no clue waht you mea by put it in the mudule folder

As far a s the sword length yer on crack the swords back then were depedent on where the ore came from cuse they were so lame at refinig it- also Macedons had +blocked+ swords too- they were short sword size- the celts and germans stared using long swords but that was way later - if yer talkin greek Before Rome reis time say- any thing BC (not AD) you got short swords in Macedon- the primary weapon was the spear cause swords broke cuse the metal was +blocked+ spears were disposabal / light and didnt take a lot of metal nobody was going around with big longswords back then ere they quickly become short swords when they snaped go read some books or something brain- oh and thanks fer the hack - as ssoo nas i firgure it out

Well, the point with the longswords and shortswords is a bit of theory, just that. The real effect in combat technique would be to have 3 classes of swords... one handed, hand and a half, and two handed swords. The "longsword" is just a point of view. The size of the blade can be corrected, in the next update, but i'll keep them in the longswords, cause of combat technique. By the way, the standard macedonian sword had about 1 meter length, and was one handed. Really hard to use it.

The waist over large size in the skirts was tested and retested, and if i make it smaller, it gets awful with animations. Maybe i can make a full body robe with skinmesh?
But i would loose the advantage of using other kinds of armour in the mix.
More of that, the shins really have to be part of the mesh, or they'll get out of the skirt. (cause the engine has no colision detection for the meshes.) It's a real handicap for the game.

For the hakpak to work, you must put it in a module on top of CEP.

I forgot about the weapons, the swords were short during that period. I think they should be between shortsword and longsword length as my personal opinion.

Historically though, the blades of the greek swords were around 14 inches. That hookish shaped chopping sword was about 20 inches, used for chopping more than anything else.

If you want greek "influenced" designs then I'd just make a few longsword or bastard swords with the greek furniture. Nice work though! I'm waiting for the other races and genders to add this to my module.

The greek swords would be short, not long.

Unknown Poster:

Did you manually add this hak to the OC module(s)? That's the only way they show up; you have to manually add haks to each module.

Wow, excellent work. I do have two comments though.

Longspear, I was thinking about this myself, you THEORETICALLY should be able to create a weapon whose range (and prefered distance) is outside the range of a normal melee weapon. This would be awesome and was something I was thinking about last week, if you can do it I'd be very grateful.

Second, the skirts change both the robe AND the thighs. Could you make the skirt only cover part of the thighs and use the chosen thigh model from the armor? This way designers could have armored legs AND a skirt for style.

And to the spear question, yes the spear does replace the normal spear, it is now one handed like the CEP trident and allows you to use a shield, but you get no 1.5 STR bonus to damage. I think they just used the wizard staff item for the anims and limitations.

Very nice... I especially like the texture work you've done on the robes. Haven't cracked the models open yet, but I'd probably try to narrow the waist a tad so that the overlap with the torso model is not so severe. Also, I noticed that you're using photo-realistic textures for the swords and such, including light refractions. You can let the game engine take care of that by editing the alpha channel, which controls metallic "sheen" on items (vs. transparency on placeables).

Can't wait til you get a female human version done, so I can put this great work to use. Keep up the good work!Carpe Terra, Project Lead

really a great hakpack. Cool

Posted by trooper9 at 2004-10-15 01:57:00
Thanks for your posting, pals.
As requested, this hakpak is Cep compatible...(last version), and HOTU version 1.64.
As for the spears, they override the puny existent spears, cause i think they have no place at all in the game.
I plan on making real two handed spears (1.8 engage distance), but i must figure out the code name for it in the dialog.tlk, cause i don't want it to be named *spear* as well.

Next patch will have the stuff for all genres and phenotypes, and also a real Medusae creature.

After that i'll get into greek clothes and jump into roman stuff.

Please post all bugs or errors for me to correct them.

A final note, the hakpak carries a conan's sword made by Lady Blood, i just got it there cause i love CONAN and i keep refusing to remove it. ( wonder why?)

HIGHQUALITY STUFF , with this hak combined with Lisa greek robes and roman shield we can make small battles like in RTW rts or create mithological modules

I might wanna try this if just for the one handed spears, but I need to mirror another posters question:

Are the spears overwriting current spears? (which I do have use for), or adding a new spear type? Also is this CEP compatable? And there shall be one born of the Dragon, who shall teach the horde to once again look to the skies with fear and dread...

Finaly....
keep up the great work!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Arlain at 2004-10-14 07:26:00
I have to say I'm very happy to see this project as I have essentially greek dwarves in my setting.

Couple of questions though;

Have you added 1 handed spears or actually changed the basic spear to be one handed? (I'd prefer the former)

Will you add robes for the non-military aspects of greek life?

Is it 1.64 complient or will you be waiting for the CEP1.5 patch to do that?
