Category  PC Parts
Expansions  HOTU-1.59
Description
If you don't like furries this hak isn't going to be for you. It adds several new (Fully animated) tail models which when combined with CEP and/or my Double Jointed Leg hak gives you a wider range of anthropormorphic Player appearances.

The double jointed leg hak shown in the screenshot can be found here and the anime catgirl seen in the screenshot can be found here the other furry character is not available to download. Zip includes both regular and CEP compliant haks, as well as override.

Hello. I downloaded this around a year ago, and I loved it -- Especially using it with my favourite characters in NWN. Can't say I've used this in modules of mine, considering I am an absolute newbie in NWN module-making, but I am sure many others still use this pack.

However, the NWN 1.69 patch seems to have a 2da file that, when using horses, goes in conflict with your override files -- It sacrifices the use of your tails for horses, or when viceversa. I checked around the CEP Pack if they added your Tail Pack, but I found nothing resembling your collection.

I'm not sure if you'll work around it, or if you'll even read this message (and it would be understandable, seeing that it's very likely you would be in other projects already, and you haven't logged on this site for months).

But even if you don't, I'll just say I'm grateful for this compilation of tails, and I hope that a future CEP gets to contain this collection.

A perfect submission deserves a perfect ten.

Vinchenzo made a post here.
Plz check out my entries. I'm currently making a few simple modules, designing 3 special characters, and hope to someday be good this stuff.

This is Vinchenzo, finishing his post with the following advice:
Don't use Latin improperly (Lupis means grey, Rufus is red, Canid is dog, so on.) Furries annoy me with their improper usage of such. And I'm a furry!!! Ugh...
Don't vote for Beta things unless told they are finished, unless posted specifically by the author.
Don't abuse the vote and post function, don't vote for your own/friends stuff just to get a high vote. Don't flame vote either just to be an ass.
There is a voting system for how the points are used, even I forget, but we should follow it (and tattoo it to our forehead, lol)

Fun, solid idea. Any chance of rat-tails or dinosaur/kangaroo tails in the future?

Amazing work, Ryuujin! Hope you also create some reptilian or amphibious(sp?) tails. (^v^)/

I once downloaded a hak pack with a apple in it, so I guess that would make me an apple...

I'm having a problem with my overrides not working with CEP other tail/leg overrides, how could I fix this? Thanks

Posted by Ryuujin at 2005-03-19 15:45:00
Eh, just to set the records straight. "Furry" tends to be used as a colloquial term for any anthromorphic creature, or person who likes to use such avatars in a totally innocent way. In the US it seems to refer to a rather small group of sexual deviants, but in this instance, it means anthromorphic characters...

...try not reading meaning that wasn't there into the hak. Theres nothing remotely perverse in this pack... sorry if that dissapoints you ^_^

"OR, go on a mad shooting rampage at one of their annual meetings."

Shouldn't give him ideas.
Do you have any idea how easy it is to buy a semi-automatic version of various AK and AK style rifles these days?
A new WASR-10 sells for around $320, and comes with several accessories, including a bayonet and two 30 round mags.

Its a wonder people like him who seem to hate furries so much haven't done this already.
Perhaps they know they'll end up losing their head to a police sniper.

Lupinals, hengeyokai, rakasta, tabaxi... The amount of anthro monsters already in D&D this hak makes possible to add is massive.

I might cook up a scaley leg model variant soon, quite a few people've asked now.

The Kenku and Kuo-Toa were finally uploaded a few days ago thanks to the release of EotB and should be downloadable via NWVault any day now.

Both, your Tail-Pack and Doubled jointed Leg-Pack are the best bodyparts I've seen by now, Ryuujin!

Could you do please also create reptilian legs and/or tails? Something like that would fit perfectly for Dragonians and other dragonic/reptilian, or even amphibic/aquatic races.

Btw, do you have a release date for your Kenku and Kuo-toa creature models? They both look simply excellent! :)

Posted by Ryuujin at 2005-02-25 02:29:00
Just take another quick look and double check you also copied the tailmodel.2da into the override. Also check that you have actually installed the models to the override folder and not extracted them into a second folder within that folder.

Beyond that I have no idea what the problem is because I just downloaded the hak file myself and everything's in order.

Posted by Curious Poster ( 68.97.xxx.xxx ) at 2005-02-24 14:43:00
Umm... kind of knew all that, my problem is the the tail models will not show in the toolset options or ingame, I have put the overrides files in all their proper places, nothing seems to work.

Thanks for your time anyways.

Posted by Ryuujin at 2005-02-24 02:35:00
If you are using a hakpack in any given module that also adds extra tail models (such as the CEP) they'll override the overrides, so if the module has a hakpack, add in the CEP compatible hakpack and put it at the top of the list.

I'm pretty sure you NEED the HotU expansion as well, though at a theoretical level it should work without. You add the tail model via the "tail" slot in the creature properties, or you can download and use leto to add them to your own character. (Link and instructions supplied in the read me).

Nice addition for modders. Makes it easier to create anime style NWN modules.

I'm having a hard time getting the override files to show up in toolset and in-game, can you help me out here please?

Thank you. ^^

Actually the solution is extremly easy.

Go into Appearance.2da and check the player appearance slots - the environment map is the problem. In the toolset the wings are seperate from the PC and so appear transparent, but in game they share their environment settings with the player's core appearance.

The environment map can either be a file - ie. shiny - or blank (****), in which case the alpha mapped areas will appear transparent, and the wings show correctly.

However by turning that off it'd mean shiny parts of the character (ie. metal, shiny cloth and leather, hair) would go semi transparent and appear ghosted. This can be further fixed by editting Bioware's palette files to simply remove the alpha mapping except where it's needed.

In fact, by editting the palette sufficiently and turning off the env' map, it's even possible to add alpha mapping to PLT skins, and so allow "holes" or transparent parts on a Player Character - ie. alpha mapped hair like you see in games like Final Fantasy 9 and 10, or pretty much any other PS2 game.

"The only practical upshot of this tail/wing system is you can make shiny/transparent areas in the skin, but I'd say the cons outweighed the pros on this count."

Actually, niether feature works properly. Parts that should be shiny are translucent and parts that should be holes do display properly in the toolset, but in game are filled with chrome. Even BioWare's bone tail does this. We spent some time trying to solve this issue to no avail, so the system actually has no upside whatsoever. :)Cherish always the memory of the fallen.

Tails and Wings work on a totally different system to Cloaks and PC Parts (Limbs). The Player's core body parts use "PLT" textures, which are basiclly greyscale with regions designated to various sub palettes (Leather, Cloth, Hair etc).

However the tail and wing models use the same system as Placeables/Weapons for some reason - I've never been sure why as they could've just used the same principles as the robe. But anyway tails/wings have to use TGA/DDS textures, and those are forcibly as they appear, and can't be coloured in realtime like a PLT can.

The only practical upshot of this tail/wing system is you can make shiny/transparent areas in the skin, but I'd say the cons outweighed the pros on this count.

You may've seen colourable tails on other haks however they are static and usually come as a belt part, which has it's own difficulties:
- You can't wear a belt AND a tail.
- You need to add the tail to all your clothing for it to appear right. Which requires scripts and opens up it's own can of worms.
- The tail would be limited to "wobbling" like Lisa's tail pack, rather than fully animated.

I might make a quick variant of this hak using that system since it is in demand, however it won't be nearly as user friendly, it'd be very much a thing for PW owners and module writers to play with, not something you can slap into your override and have it work straight off without some toolset work.

I have one question about your Tails Pack. I know that your legs pack, the fur on the legs is colored like the PC's hair in the game, how come your tails are not like that? I was just wondering if perhaps you could make a version that way.

Ignorant maggot! Mr. 64.235.xxx.xxx, tell me, in ancient legends where mention is given to fawns, centaurs, and half human folk, are you going to say these people were also "FURRIES"?

I think you must watch this stuff you write about if you know so much about whatever site you are talking about!!

Ryuujin keep up the excellent work!!! :D
