A long bow with heavy ornamentation. Inspired by a piece of artwork from The 1994 Tolkien Calendar entitled 'Legolas Draws the Bow of Galadriel' by M.W. Kaluta.
The people have spoken and I have listened. Bow is now in rest position. Added bowstring and 'bowshot' animation!!! 2.1 change: tried to sync bowshot animation for bow with bowshot animation in a_ba_med_weap
2.2 change: added proper looking, I hope, inventory icons
pauliwogus: check to see if your ingame graphics settings are set to use 32 or 64 bit textures
DM_frayne: will do....once I get a home internet connection. Recently moved and don't have one yet.

Please change the item icons to reflect the new bow shape, they look really out of place now in an otherwise perfect hak.

Alrighty. I love the screen shots and the models are excellent, but for some reason the textures ran away. The .dds files are there, but they don't do much of anything apparently. I am confused, as my graphics card is perfectly capable of reading .dds files. Could you possibly tell me what might be going wrong?

wow! perfect!
One slight question.. pictured here, the strings all have colors that match the rest of the bow. when I put it in game, the strings all end up the same brown color?

Anyone thinking of making a bow now has a new benchmark. ;)

Just one word - PERFECT!

Well that's the best bow in NWNs now, by a mile.
As for those who don't like the bowstring clipping issue, I guess you could just add another part with no string, so one has the choice not to use them. Only other thing left to do, it seems, is to remake the icons.

Oops! I see you added animation! :) *slaps own hand for hasty post below* I have to check these bows out!

Looks beautiful!Very nice work judging from the pic. Personally I prefer no bowstring for NWN. The ones I've seen do clip the forearm, and I think they end up bringing added attention to the lack of a draw animation, but that's just my opinion.
"Squeaky wheel gets the grease" as 'they' say. Your feedback has been noted and the changes have been made. Enjoy.

The reason why the bow in the picture is so bent is because it is at full draw. At the moment therefore your model looks like its at full draw all the time and that if it were bent any more the string would come off. ;)
Bioware bows do have a bending animation (although some are a bit buggy in that the tip-pieces of the shortbows get detached from the rest of the model), but then Ive just noticed that the other community bows (Shadowhawks stringed bows and Deph's bow) also have no bending animation.
I think the most important thing is that you just make it look a logical shape at rest, Lathspell, as that is what will be seen 99% of the time. Mostly the lack of a bending animation will not be noticed in the heat of battle. A string or bending animation would just be a bonus (although as far as Im aware no community maker has got them bending yet).
Either way the detail on your models is great.

Looks great, but:
1) Lack of a bowstring
2) The ends of a bow should be curved in the other side - like in all real-world bows (IMHO)

This one looks great! Suitabloe for a king of a medium-sized kingdom, I'd say.

Looking good. Any plan to add a bowstring?
