Hey shambhala,
Great stuff! I LOVE centaurs - hence the name...
You mind if I borrow one of your centaur models for my creature? I am creating a new AI mod "The Huntress" - which I'm going to post here once it's done.
Centaurette.

Nice! Note to users: if hak objects clash you can change the number (or possibly model) for the creature at the end of the appearance.2da in its hak.

hmm... you used the deer as the body?
so I guess it's a centony, not a centaur. Still, this is awesome work and I'm using it as is in my mod. thanks!

I agree... I would like to see the Centaur be a little bigger. Is there any chance that anyone will continue working on this? I love the Centaurs and have already added an entire Centaur dwelling to my mod, but would like them to be more up to size. Using the horse would be a good idea, and if I knew anything at all about that kind of thing, I'd do it myself ;)

I like 'em... :)
Sure, I wish they were a little bigger or used a horse body instead of deer. But they are still excellent additions.
Now if we can convince Shambhala to turn these into model parts for a new/replaced race (say gnome), I'd love to give PCs the option to play centaurs. B)

It seems that there's a clash between this hakfile and the
EquinePack v2.0 ... if I load both, whichever was listed
first will be available, ie if the Centaur pack is listed
before the Equine pack, only centaurs are available...
Horses somehow "disappeared" from the list...

To use the model, just place any other creature (say, a
human) in your world. Now go to properties, and under
Basic / Appearance (not the Appearance tab!) scroll down to
Centaur.

How do you actually get a creature to use the Centaur
appearance?
I've searched the whole list over and over to no avail.
Help...

Not bad for the model, the texture looks a little rough
around the edges so a more detailed skinning would be
desireable. What is your reluctance to give them the sit
animation? Haven't you ever seen a horse kneel? Well, I
guess it would look awkward on a COUCH!! Ah, well. All
in all, a promising start to a good model.

Yeah, that's it. I didn't even consider feats and skills
for them. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Have to say it again ... great work.

Did you give the creatures you created the required feats
and other stats to allow them to use a bow?
Remember that when you set a creature as a centaur you are
just giving them that appearance. It is up to the module
creator to make sure everything else is set right. The
centaur model has all the animations to use any weapon or
weapon combo as long as everything else is set right.
If you are not sure what feats and stuff a creature needs to
use a particular weapon you can placedown a standard
creature that you know can use that weapon and then assign
the centaur appearance to that creature. For instance an Elf
Ranger is good with a longbow.

First off , these are superb. I have a question though -
When I give any of the Centaurs bows and arrows, they use
their fists in combat instead? Whats up?
Posted by Daeoin Arlson ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-10-14 20:18:00
They could have Lion head. That may look good. A friend of
mine has started playing with this a bit. She is using the
Half Orc Torso/ Head and attacting it to the Lion body.
Matches up pretty good from what I hear. Haven't seen it
yet. Her biggest thing right now I think is keeping the
animations the same.
Thanks for all the hard work.

So its got the head of a lion as well does it...
As you can see above I have updated the hak pak to not
override biowares new models.
If anyone already has the previous version linked to a
module and they replace it with this new one they will need
to set the appearance for their creatures in the module
again, since the id numbers have changed. Their creatures
may look like something else and may not even be visible in
the main tool-set window but the entries will still be in
the hierarchy tree on the left. Just right click on these
and open up the properties, ignoring any error messages
which pop-up, and just re-set the centaur appearance. All
the other stats set for the creature should remain unchanged.

Thanks Shambhala, I'll just wait for you to get it done so
I don't mess something up. hehe...
Happy Thanksgiving ... 8)

I put my centaurs at the end of the appearances.2da file
from the 1.24 version, so the new creatures bioware added in
1.25 won't show up since the appearances.2da from my hakpak
will override the new version of that file. If you know how
to take that file out of the hakpak you can replace it with
the new appearances.2da file... making sure to cut and paste
the centaur entries into it at the end of the file and
incrementing the numbers for all of the centuaurs. ( 400,
401, 402, etc. ) and then adding that file back into the
centaur hak pak. Or else you can wait until I have a chance
to do this... maybe tomorrow... tuesday at the latest... it
is the Thanksgiving long week-end here in Canader.
