Version 1.1 of my rendition of a Displacer Beast which is based off of Bioware's cat model. A Displacer Beast is a 6 legged, 2 tentacled puma-like creature with a blue-black pelt. This file contains the basic hak pack as well as a resources folder containing the original targa textures and .mdl file to allow you to incorporate this into your own haks if you like. Poly count: 1268 Update: Replaced CA1SLASHL/CA1SLASHR animations to remove claw attack animations and made these tentacle attacks only.
I was just wonder if there is an easy way to add it to an exsisting module? I can get it to come up fine following the readme text file that states to make a new module, but when I try to make it using the wizard on my exsisting module I can't get it to go.
Thanks in advance..... _________________________ Trace

Since someone is working on the 3E rendition I'll let them pursue that version. Thanks for the link Emaciated. I've started re-animating two of the animations for a tentacle only attack. If it works good in the game, I'll have an update in a day or two.

if ya look carefully at the 1st edition pic, 3 of the legs are on the same side
- if votes count i dont like skinny beasts

I'd rather have the old first edition displacer beast with four legs, myself. Not some hooptified 3rd ed one.

I agree with Lost Dragon. I'm partial to the blue-black fur myself. The tentacle only attack anim would finish it up well.

Another classic critter excellently done. Thanks.

It's just that one artist - everything he draws looks emaciated. I would just stick with your own interpretation of the displacer beast.

The more 'leather and bone' look will be saved for the 3rd Edition MM version I'll attempt which will be closer to WotC's artist's interpretation of the Displacer, although the manual does describe them as having luxurious blue-black fur and doesn't seem to allude to the immaciated beast they've portrayed. I'll see what I can do about a tentacle only attack anim as well.

Great version but u should work more on texture ,Displacer body parts are much more thin (only leather and bone) and id like a second attack animation for tentacles...ask CODI stuff for help

No problem Xaereth, glad to help you all out. I should mention, while I'm fairly happy with the way the tentacles have animated in most of the anim sequences, It's hard to think how a mammal would carry itself with two far-reaching appendages on its back. In particular, in non-combat situations.. what do you do with these extra body parts? For the most part, I opted to have them in a readied state of attack. If, after trying this creature out, you have any suggestions as to what might look more natural for certain animations please let me know and if it works, I'll put it in the next update.

Thanks again for doing this up for me C. Keep up the great work.

I certainly look forward to testing this out. If the animations are up to par it certainly will be going into my hak as well. Nice work!

Great job on this. I've been awaiting this model since NWN was released, surprised it took this long to arrive but this is a good effort. Pretty well animated and it definitely gets the job done. Into the hakpak it goes. :-)
