We are pleased to present to you this all new creature model from our DLA1 module material.
NWN has changed a lot over the past three years. The work that we have done more recently is much better than our earlier work. Max polycounts increased as hardware and mesh systems have improved. Like the artists at BioWare, our artists improved as they acquired more experience working with NWmax.
The result is that we are able to do more with the resources available in NWN. The Ogre takes advantage of those technical and hardware improvements.
The DLA Ogre is a hybrid model. It features both skinmesh and segmented geometry to more accurately depict the iconic Ogre as conceived by WotC artists.
At the same time, the polycount is low enough that the large majority of all users will be able to deal with this new model in large numbers on screen at the same time.
The archive includes:
1- the new DLA Ogre model and texture
2- new animations for the model modified from BioWare standard. The DLA Ogre supports shield use (but not missile weapons)
3- a new weapon, a club which is more or less a rough tree branch to be used by the Ogre in this spirit of the WotC ref art
4- an all new portrait for the DLA Ogre
5- a quick .erf to import the creature into the toolset should you wish to use it
6- appropriate .2das to get it working for you no muss no fuss
7- a quickie module so you can fight the ogres and see em in action.
This was a team effort. The main creature mesh was created by Robbie Powell (Arcana) and Francis Lacuna (Elryn). Textures on the model by Francis Lacuna (Elryn) and Gareth Davies (Nexusjnr). Animations by Adam Anden (Ragnarok). Portrait by Anthony Marinakis (Harry Backside). Weapon by Some_Ux and Lisa. Module and 2das by Lisa, Kathleen Nielson (Copperkat) and Jeremy Lundberg (DirgeSinger). QA by the DLA Team.
We have not included a specific CEP compatible .2da in this - but you should have no trouble adding our 2da line to your haks. We have not tested the club model with CEP material and have no idea if there will be a conflict. Anyone who is aware of any CEP issues post them here.
It look great, but is there some way you can use this in the official campaign?
Is it possible to have the files to put in the override folder to replace all original ogres in the OC or in any other module without adding the hak file to the module itself?
I have no experience with the toolset, and it is a shame that the casual gamer like myself can't enjoy DLA great additions.

OR, the community could use intuition and do it themselves? Hell, I'd hate for them to make it CEP compatable. Go and do it yourself. They have NO short charged us. If anything, you are expecting too much of them
They did the hard part. Now you have to do your part to use it with the CEP. I mean, I don't even use the CEP. I just make my own version of it with anything I need. Which tends to include some CEP stuff, but not all of it, and heaps of worthwhile non CEP stuff
In closing, it doesn't need to be CEP compatable because then you'd only have the CEP and one extra model. I wouldn't care too much if they just included a single .2da line just for easy copy and pasting into our own appearance.2da files
And I'd love to see the releases of other things you guys have =D
I think this Ogre is long over due for the makers of this Ogre to make it CEP compatible since 98% have the CEP and feel as if the makers have short changed the community! by not makeing it compatible. _________________________ I've been playing D&D since 1984 =-| wow it has come a long way since pencil & paper =-)

Like most of DLA's stuff, this is just top-notch work, better than most of Bioware's own models. _________________________ Live fast, die young, and leave a lootable corpse.

The ogre looks great. I have the CEP installed and tried installing the ogre with it. When it was at the top of the custom content list it worked well, unfortunately all portraits of other npcs that are post origional nwn were blank in the game. The dla ogre's portrait was fine. When the dla ogre hak was below the CEP content the ogre didn't appear at all. I hope it gets put on the CEP next time.

I realized I'd forgotten to vote on this... Doh. _________________________ The Power Almighty rests in this Lone Ring.

Try to get the CEP to include this in the next version. This should be in the next patch to override the current Orge model, cuz it looks much better.

im not the brightest guy in the world so I'll say it. Can you override this guy to replace all original ogres in the game? (I wouldnt want to make a "special" mod for myself in order to fight these things.) I want to see the these in mods that I play now.
THIS CREATURE IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*rates 9.8* Still a bit wierd for me :P
