This is a builder set of tiles and sample placeables that allows you to add a bit of uniqueness to your castle interior tileset. We have found this group of tiles and placeables very useful to us. Perhaps others will find these useful also.
I was faced with the challenge of having multiple faction groups with unique banners and shields - and did not want the inside of all our castles and keeps to have the same orange NWN banners.
What I decided on was to create a set of tiles that have all the banner nodes, along with any block nodes that a banner is suspended from, removed from the castle interior tiles that have overhanging banners. NOTE: The reason I removed both the banner, and the block node holding the banner, is due to placeables wanting to sit on top of tile arches (which happens if just the banner is removed). I also added tiles that have all the wall banners removed.
I then took those same nodes and turned them into placeables. Thus these placeables slide perfectly into the new tiles (or hang nicely on a blank wall). This has allowed me to create multiple sets of banner placeables only, without having to have a unique tileset for each different faction in our module.
While I was at it, I also created a set of tiles that just have the banners (not the block node that the banners hang from) removed. This allows me to create a castle or keep interior with no banners.
There are 36 total tiles in this set.
20 tiles are for the custom banner placeables with block and/or banner nodes removed. Sixteen of these twenty tiles are named tic59_XXX_XX - with the xxx_xx corresponding to the NWN tile it will replace. The other four are named tic59_XX_ - with the xx corresponding to yla round tiles and credit to YellowLab for those great round corner tiles!
The other 16 tiles in this set are named tic58_XXX_XX, with the xxx_xx corresponding to the NWN tile it will replace. These tiles simply have the banners removed - no block nodes are removed.
I have included our 4 Windsong banner placeables also. You can alter the banner tga as you like - replicate the 4 placeable mdls for as many banner tga's as you want, and have your own banners. The 4 placeables needed for each banner set are: 1-Arch over doorway 2-Sidewall Arch 3-Corner Arch 4-Wall Hanging. Feel free to use the Windsong banner set if you like :)
With a little re-skinning - these work nicely with other interior castle sets. I included a pic of our misalin castle interior set (a desert set we use for more then one faction) - showing a reskin of these placeables for a alternate interior set. These also would make a nice tattered banner set for that abandoned interior - just fuss with the banner .tga alpha channel a bit.
We have found other uses for these placeables, like on the front outside of a tower. Note though that these are pulled from the castle interior set and do not move with the wind.
I've included a readme in the .rar file with the tile set entries, the group entries and the placeables.2da line entries. Of course you'll have to change tile and group numbers to fit your tic set and add the palette entires to your tic01palstd.itp as you see fit. I included a screen shot in the .rar of how I set mine up.
Known Issue: I did not alter the placeable pivot point - it's still offset based on the tile settings it was extracted from. This has not affected usage at all for me, but if it is bothersome for others, perhaps the pivot point on the placeables can be adjusted. I'm not a 3d person, so messing with that sort of thing is beyond me.
A Final Note: This set is not a hak ready to plug into a mod. It's for builders who know their way around the .set, 2das, and .itp files.
