This hakpak is a series of placeables that form a map of Faerun on an area's surface. It can be used as a "world map" in modules.
The download includes an erf with a prefabed map area so you don't have to build the map yourself.
Be warned, it's big. It has only undergone limited testing, so consider this download a Beta. If you want to see a smaller version of a world map in action, please give a look at my module, "The Dragon's Teeth."

Great Job! This is a beautiful way to include a world map in every module. I think I will try and retexture the placeables (which is easy enough, just painting in the tga) and turn it into a map suiting my project (if you don't mind me using your work for non-faerun content). But your work on the models and aligning all the placeables should make the job much easier. Thank you! _________________________ "A Hippie's Tale", a colouful little module: Link

I think this hak is good, but I confused my self when i download it, i though that it were some new Pleacebles and it is only a map....hehehe... But good job
I guess you accidentally saved the tiles as Character, not Placeable. Funny it still works. That's giving me some ideas though, emitter-based map could possibly do some funky stuff with the map. Right now I think it just makes it bit larger and laggied than needs to be.
And well, the stuff about tga's and older graphics-cards is still true, but... Since you were commenting on the size of the hak, I thought I'd mention that's why. It's nice to have for those few people who have too old graphics card, but is it worth getting five times bigger hak? Depends on whether one happens to have one of those older graphics cards, I guess.
But honestly, DDS compression is practically requirement for custom content now, too many haks require it.
downwulff: Thanks ...the truth is, I made this in late 2004 for my Dragon's Teeth mod, and then abandoned it for the much smaller, more-zoomed-in map that's actually in the module. So I haven't touched it in a while.
With that in mind ... I have no idea why the placeables don't show up in the palette. :) Easy enough to accomplish.
It is CEP compatible -- to the CEP version that was out in October 2004. I think I had HOTU then, but I'm not 100 percent certain.
On the TGAs, that's easy enough to fix. The stuff I read at the time said you need to have TGAs for the older video cards, but I case that's not so much the case any more.
On the use of emitters -- I honestly have no idea what those are or how they get in there. I thought I copied Zaddix's design (which you referenced) but I must have inadvertently added them.
On PCs blowing up the map sections with spells -- I don't think it's possible in its present form -- the map sections are all static. I just ran a test and threw seven maximized fireballs at one part of the map, and it didn't look like they took any damage. Unless you know of another way to blow them up?
Thanks for all these suggestions; I'll see if I can't get out a more streamlined version before too long.
Took a first look inside the hak, providing tga files of all the textures is certainly a nice touch, but as CEP for example abandoned TGA support from the start, I doubt any NWN players need TGA anymore. Leaving those out would cut the hak size into one fifth. There's some other savings to be had, but that'd be the main thing. If TGA's are absolutely neccessary, maybe two versions?
Great work! Just one problem, I don't see the placeables in my palette. Importing the erf works best, ofcourse. I assume it's CEP compatible currently? Also, better set all the placeables Plot so people don't blow them up with spells.
