This is a demonstration of a flowing river effect I might be implementing into some tileset work. The purpose of publishing this demo is to, hopefully, generate some discussions and to let me get an idea of how much people appreciate stuff like this. If lots of people are interested, then I might spend more time developing the effects. Otherwise, I'll just leave this here as a reference for other modellers and builders who want to employ this method of simulating flowing water in their own projects.
Basically, what this does is to cover the static water surface with a rapid moving alpha layer to create a believeable flowing effect. I think it does look quite nice and the movement complements the static state of the tile models rather well. Almost Zen. This method of overlaying alpha can also be used on lake surfaces to create a rhythmic oscillating windblown effect - not included in this demo - and stuff along that line.
There's a minor issue though - it looks really weird with Shiny Water, but nobody likes Shiny Water anyway. :p

To view, simply plop DEMO - Flower.mod into your modules folder, gao_flowdemo.hak into your hak folder, and play the mod. I'm using 1.67's toolset, but I've reduced the requirement with LilacSoul's InfoChanger, so this should work fine in 1.66. Let me know if it isn't the case.
