Heres another old little project I had lying around for a while, almost done but not qutie finnished, Ioun Stone visual effects. So I brushed em off and finnished em up.
Who doesnt like Ioun Stones, they Glow, they Float, they give you undispellable magical effects, they Glow... oh wait I mentioned that already... when you think about it their the collector cards of the D&D universe.
Here i have for you 6 differant stone colors, White, Red, Blue, Green, Orange/Yellow and Purple each with their own orbit so you can have one of every color active, zipping around your noggin like flies on a corpse. Originaly they also included dynamic lights, which looked great, however they played mayhem on other dynamic lights if you had to many wizzing around your head at once so that little feature was removed, a pitty. I will be doing more colors as a future hak, completeing the set.
The Zip contains besides the primary hak, a .txt file with easily cut and paste 2da lines for adding to the end of your own custom visualeffects.2da, as well as an .ERF with 6 pre scripted stones based on the manuals for you to use right away.
This hak is CEP compatable and requires NWN 1.67 along with SoU/HotU.
Now go and enjoy these whizzing glow stones of power.
could you combine one of your ioun stone with the scripts located on the vault such as the guardian crystal or obelisk of light?

I'm changing my vote to a 10 (from 9.75).
These look soooo much better in-game than they do in the screenshots. Each different shaped stone actually has its own orbit this isn't a perfect halo right around a PC's head. I actually like the fact that they aren't the brightest thing around in a lighter environment.
I've modified them for my own use, making them match the colors of the ioun stones in my PW. If you duplicate the entries in the visualeffects.2da file, you can apply more than one of a similar stone at the same time.
For my ioun stones, I allow up to 6 at a time. For ones with a similar shape (same base model/orbit), they would normally overlap, so I shift the VFX by using DelayCommand to stagger the time of the activations. This would still mess up during area transitions, so I also reapply the VFXs every few rounds to fix it.
I even tried 19 at a time (the number of different stones in my PW) in testing...very busy, but way too cool.

Very, very nice job. Ioun Stones are not just good to use, they look pretty neat as well. I think you got the stones down, and I'll be waiting for the update.

Aye the multiply use of Ioun Stones was what i was going for with this, Although if i was scripting an expanded Ioun Stone system i would deffinately make sure to have an active limit on the number of stones out at one time, can you imagine having 14 stones flying around your head :P .
Also once ive completed the set, ill set up a complete hak with a spell.2da that includes each stone colors effects as a spell rather than just a visual effect so i can incorporate HasSpellEffect() to get a single stone of each color limit active at once, as of now when you use 2+ of the same stone, you only get a single stone visual effect. which is a pitty.
Ill also give them proper base textures, and make only some glow, currently they only realy look great in dark environments, in bright areas they tend to be hard to see and make out. Ill also be tweaking their cessation animation, ill probably go with them wizzing back down into the PC, rather than the current falling out of the air.

This is pretty neat. Opens up a wide variety of uses for Ioun Stones, especially if you use multiple at the same time. Very cool! Can't wait for the complete set!
