Can't stand the visible cloaks in the 1.68 patch or having other issues with them? Well, here is the modified 2da file, just dl it, and put it in your override directory :) I did test it, and it seems to work just fine. If there are any problems with this, please let me know, and enjoy this hack :) Do not confuse this with Big_Shoe's pr Vader's file, as their files work differently than mine does. Good effort by all to fix the problems with the visible cloaks!

Very useful, and fixed a few issues for me as a player with older modules that did behave strange after 1.68 in the style departement.
Very nice if used in conjunction with some mod that can modify cep armor in your override. Style galore :P

Just the right fix! Simple and elegant and oh-so-easy-to-use! Kudos to the author. Gracias. _________________________ Regards,

Been using this for a while now, finally got around to voting on it.
This is a great override. I for one am not a fan of the new cloaks. I don't like the clipping issues they have with most armors, heads with longer hair, and a lot of the larger weapons. So I'd rather do without and this lets me do so.
As far as helmets go, someone here should try to make a hak/code mod for circlets, like they have in NWN2. That would solve some of the helmet problem. Be sure to check out my newest hak for CEP 2.0 that gets rid of cloaks when you run modules that require CEP 2.0 :) Keiseth, I'm glad you find my no cloak hak useful, what you're complaint is seems to be a larger problem with PW servers, from what I've seen on the forums, and from some of the feedback I've gotten. Try my hak for CEP 2.0 mods as well, that should help you out too :) _________________________ Never pass up a good opportunity!
I'm not sure I could do this for helmets, since most here hate face gear, save for henchmen. Like most movies, I believe the face of the lead character at least (your solo PC) should never be covered, or at least, not more than partially so. I'll look into it :) _________________________ Never pass up a good opportunity!

I think I need this! My computer is pretty low end, one of the many reasons I'm not playing NWN2. Anyway, without a cloak on, I my FPS is 40.0. In that SAME SPOT, when I wear a cloak, it drops to 20.0.
And 40.0 is much nicer. =)

Oh thank you so much. I was so wanting something like this. I don't suppose you could do the same thing for helmets could you?
You're welcome robspier :) Thanks to everyone for your votes, and I hope everyone enjoys this file for as long there are people playing this wonderful game!! _________________________ Never pass up a good opportunity!

This is absolutely great. I'm one of those that doesn't like the new cloaks, not only because of the pauldron issue, but I don't like the way they bunch around the character's necks.
This simple fix lets me get rid of them without any issues.
Thanks

Love this override!! Thank you so much; I mean, talk about unneccesary, it's this whole cloak business; they suck! And these people who say not to use the cloaks if you don't like them...? Whatever. Thanks again!!

Well, I believe that the bioware programmers are great, and that the DLA team members are really good. I guess no one thought about what might happen if cloaks were made visible, what the reaction might be. This is something that should have been offered in beta to test the new cloaks, and then bioware should have asked for feedback. I heard the cloaks were visible in the 1.68 beta, but bioward should have said, after you try this beta patch, please tell us what you think of the visible cloaks :) That would have saved a LOT of heartache! After all, we've been without cloaks for over 4 years, save for mods with haks, or CEP haks. In the end, it's a matter of personal choice, and as I've said, I hope everyone finds my file useful :) _________________________ Never pass up a good opportunity!

Honestly, I feel bad for Bioware and the DLA mod team, but I can see why people are annoyed. This is a great resource for all who don't like the new cloaks for whatever reason.
Well, I just saw Vader's post too *laughs* All I can say it, imitation MUST be sincerest form of flattery ;) I hope everyone continues to enjoy my file and can make use of it :) _________________________ Never pass up a good opportunity!
Well, I gues when you do something good, someone will try imitate you, as Big_Shoe has done with this idea of mine *sighs* While his file IS different from mine, I don't believe it will work. For my file, if you suddenly want visable cloaks, you change the name to cloakmodel.2da.bak :) that is, for as long as you need your cloaks to be visible ;) _________________________ Never pass up a good opportunity!

Thank you Silverstar333. I hate the new cloaks. They are ugly, clip badly with most any armor and as someone else has said they remove the shoulder pieces of your armor.
Also, OBJECT_SELF, you are extremely selfish and live up to your name. Your request of me has been granted but unlike your request I actually tried your POS modules. If you knew anything about the NWN community you would know they are selfless. You might fit in somewhere but it's not here.
I don't mind at all, thanks for all your nice comments Coen :) _________________________ Never pass up a good opportunity!

Hey there Silverstar,
I've been looking for a way to change the 2da for the new cloaks ever since 1.68 came out in beta. I dont really like the new cloaks, mostly because they remove the pauldrons (shoulder pieces) for armour. For full plate armour pauldrons are especially needed. They give the wearer protection from having his/her head being removed. A suit of full plate without pauldrons is just... well stupid.
If they had made the model so that the cloak sat on top of the pauldrons Id have no complaints. I also play many modules that have custom haks that use cloaks and the 1.68 2da ruins that. Im not bashing the incredible work done by the creators of the cloaks at DLA, all of their work is without compare, but in this case, I just didnt like them.
Anyway. I'm very grateful to you.
I hope that you don't mind, but I put a link to your 2da on the Bioware forum, just for anyone who wants to choose to remove the cloaks as well.
Again, great work and thanks.

I did change my description above, hopefully we are past any more Politically Correct things now :) _________________________ Never pass up a good opportunity!
Bannor_Bloodlist: You're very welcome :) I did read one guy who ran a server was having a TON of complaints from his players about the visible cloaks, so something like what I've done seems to be needed. I am glad to be part of the community :) Thanks again!! _________________________ Never pass up a good opportunity!
Object Self: I haven't played any of your mods, and when I vote on a mod, it would be objective and based on many things :) If you like what you did, that is cool :) If you like visible cloaks, that is up to you :) You should see all the complaints about the visible cloaks in the bio ware forums, ppl can't stand them overall, and it even seems that dyes don't work on them either, at least, not very well from what I've read. If you could dye them, it wouldn't be quite so bad. I can only hope the final 1.69 patch will have an option to make the cloaks visible or invisible :) It really should be a player's choice! _________________________ Never pass up a good opportunity!

Thank you.
Not that I will ever use this utility, but I do appreciate the fact that you have made it easier to choose to use or not use the new cloaks. (Why anyone would choose NOT to use the cloaks is beyond my understanding)
As for everyone else, thank you for your nice comments :) This was my first attempt at any kind of hak or 2da file modification, and I appreciate your vote of confidence! _________________________ Never pass up a good opportunity!
I did mean "hate" in any malicious way *laughs* I'm sorry if I'm not PC with my description, but my intent is good. Some of us just don't like visible cloaks. If you could make them where they could color coordinate with your armor, they would be great, but from what I've seen, and read in the forums on the bioware site, that isn't the case. Silverizer, I will talk to Max, and get him to remove your vote. What you said is political, and is not a valid evaluation of my fix. Please take your PC politics elsewhere! If you post here again I will consider it harassment. _________________________ Never pass up a good opportunity!
