This is a simple modification of Adam Millers placeable water. I've created 4 levels of snow and made a x1 and x4 placeable for each. The placeable 2da includes CEP2 beta. I've added an erf for easy import to the toolset.
update 9.13.06
I've added two angled snow placeables based on the mdl created by ShadowM in his Waterplaceables hak. I've lowered the high placeable to match up with these, and the medium and low placeables proportionally.
Just a quick update note... ShadowM's sent me more angled models for medium and very high and working on some corner mdls now.
I've finished the retexturing for these as well as the existing mdls in five textures: snow, underdark, desert, light and dark brush. Once I get the corner mdls, I'll do them for the five textures and we'll be ready for release.
I've also padded the placeable.2da to be compatible with my other floor cover hak.
I've taken some cool screen shots and will post them shortly as community news.
Thank ShadowM, any chance you could do a couple of small corner placeables? That would give us far more building blocks and flexibility.

Do not forget the famous desert crypt room where you could have a trap where the sand get higher and higher in a locked room and could kill off the pc. ;) ohhh emitter sand from flowing out with retextured water flow I make a note of that one. Ohhh ya markrendl I get you though models soon :)

Yeah, I also thought about that after I posted my sand comment, but then I thought of quicksand or the way sand "acts" after a sandstorm... I can see someone trudging through, say, ankle-deep sand with lots of wind? If angled on a hill, I can see it rising up to your calves as your descending. Perhaps I've spent too many summer weekends at the Indiana dunes. :P
Thanks for the great hak! My deserts and artic areas are going to look top notch. Can't wait for more updates. :D _________________________ Cheers,

I've decided to do a major expansion on this and add a number of other natural ground covers. The next update will include sand with textures matching the desert and underdark tile sets. It will also include a light and dark set of foliage placeables you can use to simulate bushes.
Most of the work on this is done, so hope to have it up in a day or two.
Thanks for the heads up, I'll take a look at that and try to post a fixed version shortly.
Re: Help
Thanks ShadowM for the initial work on these kinds of placeables and I will definitely take you up on your offer as I have a few ideas I'd like to develop but have zero skills with creating stuff from scratch using GMax or 3dMax:)
You're right - the placables don't fade, even in a 32x32 area.
I did notice one error -- your 4x4 med height model has one square a few game units above the others. If the unmatched seam is near a house or other non-snow object (or over non-snow terrain), it can be seen quite clearly.
It should be noted that the built-in tilemagic system used for HOTU can easily fill an area with (non-angled) snow using only scripting. It's a visual effect, so no placables or haks are required. _________________________ - Invisig0th

Omg I cannot believe I did not think of this LOL. Like the other comment such a simple but great idea, if you have any question or idea related with and need help just email me. Great ideas like this always bring a smile to my face with NWN. Great Job I be back later to vote.
I'd lean more towards a brush/bushes look, but not sure how good that would look. Perhaps with the right textures it would be passible though.
re: Sand
I actually thought about doing sand, but I don't think you can't actually walk thru sand like you can snow, so held off on it initially. I suppose in fantasy you could have powder like deserts though, I'll see what I can whip up.

All right, too much coffee. I'm suddenly imagining deep fall leaf piles too. *shakes head* (Sorry for all the posts.) _________________________ Cheers,

I just thought of something. This would also be good for sand... ;) _________________________ Cheers,

What a simple, yet brilliant idea. Drop in a few triggers that slow you on entering (the movement speed decrease dependent on the snow depth), maybe some danger of cold damage, and you've made deep winter areas more believable. _________________________ World of Aenea (Hall of Fame PW and the origin of all my works)

I've done some testing with a larger area and long range visability and the placeable don't appear to fade at all.
I've found and reskinned the angled water placeable and lowered the heights of the high to match up with it and scaled down the medium and low a little as well to keep things in proportion. Once I finish fine tuning and take a couple of screen shots, I'll post the update, hopefully in a couple of days - when I have a bit more free time.
I'm guessing these placables fade in the distance, as the placable water does, revealing the true terrain below? If so, you wouldn't be able to effectively use them in any sizable outside area. Better to script it all using tilemagic, unfortunatly. But these may be of some use in limited circumstances where placables fading at a distance is not an issue _________________________ - Invisig0th

I'll see what I can find as far as the angled water. If there's a mdl file already done, then I can modify it easily enough and add it to the hak. I don't know how to create mdl's from scratch though:)

Could you release some angled pieces, please? I think ShadowM did angled water some time ago...it would be useful to put down in front of doors or line them up like a path cut through the snow. ;) _________________________ Cheers,
