This hak restores the standard DLA Nightmare that was added in the 1.69 patch when using CEP 2.1. I preferred this over the CEP Cauchemar with the orange mane. Just place above the CEP haks in your module properties. This includes the models and the textures, in both dds and tga format.
Hope somebody else can get some use out of this. Enjoy! :)
UPDATE: I've added the non-replacing version of Cauchemar. I kept the same model name, c_horse5c, and changed it to a non-overriding texture, so the CEP appearance.2da entry still works for this version, but I've added c_horse5d and c_horse5e, for the saddled and barding versions. You'll need to add these to your own appearance and tailtypes 2das. If you find they're unmountable in-game, you'll need to set the following variables on them to make them a mount:
bX3_IS_MOUNT int = 1
X3_HORSE_TAIL int = tailtype.2da #
Thanks to Proleric for making his guide, which helped me figure that out!
I've updated the version requirements, since it needs 1.69 for the animations, but I don't think it requires CEP 2.1 for the Cauchemar model to work. You'll just have to add c_horse5c to your 2das, as well.
I went ahead and updated without the Nazgul horse. I still have a couple things to do for it, anyway. I don't really care about votes on this one, since it's not my work, so I'll probably post the Nazgul as it's own submission, since I wouldn't mind votes for it. ;) _________________________ Silent Hill-ish Hak | Skybox Experiments | Creature/NPC Reskins Vol 1 | Works In Progress
Okay, I have the Cauchemar models prepared, and I kept the same naming, so c_horse5c in appearance.2da stays the same, but now references a new non-overriding texture, and I've fixed the saddle and barding version to 5d & 5e. Will update soon! :) _________________________ Silent Hill-ish Hak | Skybox Experiments | Creature/NPC Reskins Vol 1 | Works In Progress
@KO, thanks for the compliment! I really just need to add the eye emitters to the other models, including a bareback/saddle version and a non-nightmare w/barding version.
@Jackal_GB, I found the models to be slightly different. There is a model for Cauchemar in the CEP haks, btw. For some reason, Cauchemar's mane clipped through the armor on the neck, and so did the original texture's mane with the Cauchemar model. When I put these models in, it went away. It seems like the mane is "thicker" in the Cauchemar models, at least in my experience. I might've been half in the bag myself. :)
That's why I don't understand why they overrode the Nightmare with Cauchemar. They have a separate model for it. It's not that hard to change the names. I do it in WordPad all the time, and I did it for the Nazgul horse. Has anyone looked at the PoTSC/1.68 "schools of fish" placeables lately? The large fish are now fish skeletons, due to another overriding CEP texture. I made a fix for that, too. _________________________ Silent Hill-ish Hak | Skybox Experiments | Creature/NPC Reskins Vol 1 | Works In Progress
Nice idea and a quick fix. I am wondering why you included the horse models. You only really need the texture files. Additional models would only be required if you wanted non-replacing versions.
As for a non-replacing version, I whipped some up last night. I was half in the bag when I created them, so I'd have to go back and double check my 2da edits.
But as this was your idea, I'll hold off posting them, to give you a chance to get your own non-replacing version out. :)
I'll wait on your latest horse to vote. Those skins look fabulous so you have to be talking about something else when you say "need a little work". :D _________________________ Cheers,

Ohh! I'm very interested in the non-replacing and your bonus horse. I'm all for adding, never over-riding unless it's seriously needed. (Improved Zombies and Undead Redux are perfect examples.) _________________________ Cheers,

You're welcome, KO! It's a duplicate entry in the CEP appearance 2da. I saw that too. Same models in both rows. While the Cauchemar model uses the same textures, I noticed it is slightly different in the mane area, which is why I ended up including the original models in this. If anyone's interested, I'm going to put the non-replacing Cauchemar up as a separate download soon, when I finish the bonus horse I'm working on. Think "Nazgul". :) _________________________ Silent Hill-ish Hak | Skybox Experiments | Creature/NPC Reskins Vol 1 | Works In Progress
Ah, thank you! I was wondering how I was going to pull this off. I can dump this in my creatures hak and move that above cep...trying to keep my hak numbers down. ;) I don't about you, but I've always seen two Cauchemar in the drop down list in my toolset. Is one different then the other in some way? O_o _________________________ Cheers,
