Title  Winterhawk's Addon Series
Author  Winterhawk99
Submitted / Updated  12-04-2008 / 01-23-2009
Category  Tilesets
Expansions  Works on all versions
Description
This hak adds content to 6 Tilesets in all. Ive been thinking of Doing this for quite some time and finally got the oppertunity to work for about a month on it. The Tilesets Ive added on to are City Exterior, City Interior, Castle Interior, Rural, Rural winter, and Desert. I started with harvest hills and went from there.

I tried to combine the best work of the community in these tileset addons for everyone to use. It like wayland harvest will be a work in progress as I refine this addon with some more content as soon as Dallo finishes and publishes Caarena 2 which ive had the oppertunity to see.

Work included in this add on is

Gaoneng's interior windows for city interior and Castle interior

Lucifer Churche's High bridges and Waterfall for rural and rural winter

Ixion's shores for rural and rural winter

Pasilli's mountains integrated into the rural tileset with a few crossing tiles from Lord Worms Seasonal forest

Thallion's alleys with edge fixes for city exterior

Grassmaster's Roman city groups for city exterior

Yellow Lab's Round tiles for castle interior

Micheal_Darkangel's city bridges

John hawkins TBinteriors and wall platforms for city interiors, rural and rural winter respectively

Zan Rebus stage for city interiors

Aragorn26282's Isenguard for rural

The last is something i specifically wanted for Harvest moon.

I also played with the palletes some to include tributes for many of the Harvest moon builders and scripters. No disrespect intended for the owners of the models builders. Just a thank you for all the wonderful people that have worked on Harvest moon thoughout its life so far.

There are a couple of issues with the tileset. Lucifer church made no edges for his hak and I could not find any that align. My fix was to take the DOA edges for their smaller height tileset and match it to Churches tiles.

The secound issue is Pasillis waterfall at this time has no top end water tile for it to match too. Im currently working to correct this matter in G-max and in the next edition have it corrected.

Ive tightened the hak up by altering edge tiles to align with the main tiles in rural and rural winter. set the diffuse lights to 1 on some edge tiles that where on 0 for uniform light edges and fixed problems. I can say that this edition is done. Like wayland harvest I will add content with a secound version while keeping this version available. The second version will include a forest addon and any content the community would like to see added that fits in with the ideas and theme of the hak so suggestions are most welcome.

I would like to thank the CTP Team for both teaching and helping me with the fixes for this hak especially Bannor_Bloodfist and Old Mans Beard

Updated with a mage tower and Cloaktower for the desert tileset for my builders that wanted them

Thank you very much boodah for the bug reports and comments.

At the moment im working on some ideas for Harvest moon and working on a prelim with bannor bloodfist on the next ctp tileset after babylon comes out.

I plan on updateing this one in the near future.

I didnt put rural mountains in because i havent figured out quite a good enough textures ye. I was born in western pa where theres alot of grassy mountains and havent quite figured out textures that will say "yes thats beautiful!" yet.

The crossers for the hills is a great idea and i can deffently put them on the list. Ive also written down those bugs on Isengard and the ice tower. I can fix those as soon as i get done with the current work on my desk.

Thank you very, very much for finding them and writing about them so I can fix them up for everyone :)

Uhh, never mind about the waterfalls and mountains, I looked both up on the vault - Guess, I should have done that before embarassing myself and spamming your thread...

Sorry, for posting again, but I also noticed, that there are no mountains for the rural set(but there are in the rural winter). Also, I can't find a waterfall (except the standard stream-over-raised-grass one) in both rural sets.

There is a problem with the door of the ice tower in the rural winter set. If I open it's properties, it says the model does not exist, but it shows up in game and in the toolset. More importantly, the door can't be opened in-game.

Also, the Isengard tower in the rural tileset doesn't have a door node.

Very useful compilation.

How about adding the hill crossers in the rural and winter tileset? I like this kind of hills a bit more than the Gentle Hill style ones.

I found one misnumbered waterfall tile in the hak i corrected and updated it

Posted by Winterhawk99 at 2009-01-11 22:45:14
well after I fixed the rural edges i found out it didnt turn out too well so i did some work on them and will have to rework the lighting in the secound edition sorry folk. the edges for gentle hills will match now

Rikki I found and fixed the problem with the edge tiles *thumbs up*

Thank you for the vote greymaster. in the coming months as i learn more about 3d editing ill be looking at the hills to find ways so they are not so sharp and angular. I'd like to try to modify the tiles myself so i can learn faster. It will take some time but ill get it. if anyone sees anymore problems your suggestions and advice are always welcome long as its constructive thanks :)

Very nice indeed. No small feat, and you've done an excellent job so far. Look forward to your future efforts.

i managed to realign the mountain and coastal edge tiles. I have to turn one tile in max and i could be finished with the hak. i would like to do one more addition which is a stream above the waterfall. it will require me to raise a couple of tiles to mountain level a good tryout of CM3

Posted by Winterhawk99 at 2008-12-10 17:50:36
im not quite sure im ready yet to correct tile to tile seams that show an angular edge to them i can try and will put that on the list to learn. Ive been asked to join the ctp and have accept the offer they have already taught me alot of things but i have a very long way to go yet thanks :)

Posted by Winterhawk99 at 2008-12-10 17:46:59
Tonight I fixed the edge tile lights on the offsetting edge tiles for gentle hills the diffuse lighting was wrong on the original tiles creating a light across adjacent edges. the next fix will be to realign the mountain edges so theres no blank tiles

Posted by Winterhawk99 at 2008-12-09 20:54:25
I got the edges for bridge and waterfalls all working in the hak. I did notice some shadow/shadeing problems with the hills and mountain edges like Rikki spoke of ill set to correcting them next. Ill update the hak after im satisfied with everything thanks everyone

Posted by Winterhawk99 at 2008-12-09 18:03:29
ok ive been successful finally at rotating tiles and other things i hope to have the fixes in next week so i can take the hak out of beta. I would like to thank Old Mans Bearf and John of the Ctp team for showing the way to do it in g-max :)

Posted by Winterhawk99 at 2008-12-08 09:22:24
thank you Rikki I will address the problem in the next week here thats why i put it up as a beta so i could get some help with problems and would like to thank you for mentioning it :)

I really like the work... but could you draw your attention towards the tile edges in the slopes in the rural and winter rural tileset - they look like pieces of cardboard stuck together on edge. I have seen other tilesets that have managed to avoid that problem.
Other than that great work - keep it comming!
I will be checking back, thanks...

Thanks for the votes. I will be updateing this in a bit. I own the Harvest Moon pw so its sort of a balanceing act between tilesets and working on the pw. Im also waiting for a few friends to submit their work that are willing to let me use it in this piece. Once Caarena comes out Ill add the forest set. For the moment im going to be working on tiles alittle in g-max and see if i can get a handle on it and work more on Harvest moon doing some quests and such :).

Decent compilation of other good works, though there are a number of bugs, but as this is supposed to be a beta, they will likely be fixed.

Nice work!!

I really like these tiles...good stuff. It si not a perfect 10 because I have seen some of this on the vault, but I do like how you blended tiles...for all that hard work and effort and overall ...you deserve the next best grade of 9.75!!
