This does exactly what it says. You can't ride the horse, but it was the easiest to use horse add-in I've seen. I spliced the hak together with mine and now I have a model for "Donkey" in my Shrek skit. _________________________ Checkout my website for my bio, pics of family, free games I created, and more! This is weird. The horses are OK, I can survive the
polymorphing, but why when I get down there is not one but
two horses near the horsetie? And if I ride more times,
more horses appear...

I Must be doing something wrong every time i mount a hourse
i poly Morph into a vampire with no horse but once i go to
horse tie and say yes a morph to normal and the horse is
there

I'm very happy to find a horse here! If we consider that
the fantasy worlds are based on the Medieval folklore then
it becomes weird why Bioware nor other companies (to my
knowledge) did not introduce riders to their games. I'm
talking about actually RIDING a horse/ unicorn/ griffin.
Wouldn't it be great to walk your alter ego to a stallion,
mount it and set it to a full gallop!
Practical question: is it possible to ride this particular
horse?

Guys I really really love the work. I only have one things
to say. It looks a little thin. I mean it is awesome that
you got it out, but couldnt you have fed them a little more
before releasing them. I mean look at Ice-Childs war horse.
Now thats a horse. Either way all you guys do killer work.
Keep it up. But next time give them ponies a little more
food before you kick them out.
Thanks and Good Night,
Biff The Barbarian

Wow! I have been anticipating the release of this horse for
awhile... It was well worth the wait!
Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the comments.
While a variable gait would be nice, it's a little hard to
trigger via standard animation calls.
With all due respect - the deer animation was tried early
on. It looks like, in a word, *CRAP* for the horse. (The
run is , in part, based on the deer animation - burr on the
hindquarters and all).
The deer's underlying geometry is just unsuitable for the
purpose.
I would prefer a canter or gallop as opposed to
the "bucking run" we have here as a default right now.
Believe me - it's been discussed a LOT at DLA. We'll
revise it at some point.
Thanks for the comments though.
And yes - to prior posters - we WILL have a mounted version
of the horse in DL1. It is not contemplated that those
horses will be mountable by PCs (through polymorph or
otherwise) as created by us as part of the module, as we
don't need that capability for the PCs in DL1.
However, I am sure that with the parts swapper in the
3dsmax plug-in suite and some polymorph script changes, a
functional PC mounted option will be available directly
based upon our released models in DL1.
If the delay in waiting for the release of DL1 (currently
looking at Christmas and it may well slip) does not suit
pepole's schedules, you can always modify the horse now on
your own. That *is* why we released it. Hack away folks.

Thanks, looking good. I know the animation takes a great
deal of time; you've done a lot of work here. Ideas for
the future:
I like the gait here (not sure what to call it, but it
might be a sprited walk or a slow canter?), but it looks
odd when that's the only gait.
It would be nice if the horse switched back and forth from
a walk (like the deer animation) to this gait depending on
how fast it needs to move. I had a ranger dominate it and
lead it around the farm, but it looked like it had a burr
on it's hindquarters. :D
Have the walk animation from the deer be the default. Also
a full out gallop (with an increased movement speed) would
be great.
Again, keep up the good work.

Hey I said it before, and I'll say it again...
Arcana, and Blackmoon, you have done a fine job with this
Horse!
Thanks you for all the mods who will use such an important
creation!

Greetings all who have made it to this page and was lucky
enough to check out my post. My isn't a lovely post. So
long and well worded, and long. AH! Me, I have such to
say. Oh I know, "Get on with it. What do you have to
say?" Well gee, you could at least let me indulge myself
in what I'm about to purpose and sugest.. and yes some of
it is repeated but then I'm going to rant and then I'm
going to praise... then I'm going to announce. Here it
goes:
THANK YOU THANK THAYOU...... A horse, my kingdom for a
HORSE!" After complex yelling at NWN I finnally get this
warm and loveing creature in my module. Come now, what
makes a dark aged, knight and shinning Armor tail without a
horse? A two-bit story worth nothing... sure it's got some
shoty goodly (and badly) magical dragons.....oooooh
ahhhh ...it's something more or less expected in a roleplay
base name such as Dungeons and Dragons. I mean I admit
that it isn't Dungeons and Horses, nor am I saying it
should be, but knights belong in D&D too. They may not get
very good credit but they do. And a knight, dressed in god
knows how heavy armor, trudging across miles and miles of
fields to get to where he needs to be, without a horse is
just plain redicculous. (Sorry my spell chekers on the
blitz and I'm not in the rite stat of mind) So. Thank
you. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart to add this
precious creature to the mix.
The Suggestions:
Unicorns. My story needs them... :D Come on you can do
them.... I mean I know you really don't want to mess with
them but come on.......unicorns....
And TWO Riding ability. I won't rant on it... it's needed
and you are working on it. That's cool.. that's good. But
I just spent 4 or 5 hours trying to use this sitting hak on
your horse and it doesn't even go on it. I'm not saying
it's your fault but... the horse wouldn't take it... I
tried to even put a table under the horse and have a man
step on the table and then connect them... that didn't work
well. It looked kinda silly... but I was trying to get it
to look right (I'll say why in a minute...) So I couldn't
even try to do a cheap version of a man riding a horse. So
please hurry on the horse ridding ability. Not to rush
you.... I wouldn't want to make you panic or anything...
but I can tell you that you will be loved by many if you
make it... your name will be more famous than Kinarr
GreyCloak. SO please, if you can't make a rider now...
make a rider soon.

Thanks for your hard work Arcana and Blackmoon, these are
really excellent!

Ick. You're right about the textures. Last night I was
trying the module out on my laptop that has an ATI Mobility.
Seems to work fine on my other machine though.

If you could make it where you can ride them that would be
cool like the wooden horse cheat DM_mylittlepony

Quick question, what's with animation frames 584 and 585?
It looks painful. Kudos, in any case.
Posted by stan ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-10-20 09:20:00
wouldn't it be possible, in one way or another, to put
rider on top of the horsies... that would be incredibly
cool... to have rider guards to use in mods and stuff
keep up the great work and keep us posted!

Georgeous! I've been wondering what my "horse traders" were
going to have to be adapted to.
Is it just me or is that terrain custom also? The grass
looks nice and long.
Posted by Steel_Wind ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-10-19 21:04:00
If there are no textures, your card does not support DDS.
The textures bundled with the .hak file are in DDS format,
not TGA.
I'll revise it and add a lower res .tga texture as well.
Posted by Adam ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-10-19 19:58:00
Hmn. For some reason these horses don't show up with any
textures for me. Not a big deal at this point.
This is pretty cool anyway. Hopefully we'll someday have
rideable mounts.

Maybe you could give us a portrait PLEASE!!!
Posted by Arroe ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-10-19 16:53:00
Great job. Ever thought about making a unicorn too?
Posted by Steel_Wind ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-10-19 14:19:00
Rideable? No.
If they were rideable - don't you think the description
would have made something as significant as that pretty
clear?
We WILL have rideable horses later - this is a farm animal
to modify and hack around with as you see fit.
Posted by Andakus ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-10-19 13:36:00
can you ride them?
Posted by Finniksa ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-10-19 12:13:00
Very excellent horse! I'm really glad you decided to
release it.. it seems some people have been making horses
but not releasing, and it was a bummer but of course their
choice. Mods will gain considerably from your contribution!
I definately hope you keep up the great work.

Whoa! I always wondered why there were no horses in NWN,
but now thanks to you guys we have them. Awesome job!
Thanks a million. (Now if we could only ride them.... ;-)
Posted by BoromirNo1 ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-10-19 11:21:00
Please someone put barding and a rider on this.
Posted by Atrus Marud ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-10-19 09:43:00
I must say, this is truly a feat to be proud of having
produced. Hopefully you will keep up the good work, and
continue to amaze the NWN Community. Great Job Guys!
