This override pack was designed to improve the visual of one of the oldest NWN tileset - Bioware Rural. It replaces all of the Trees terrain and several tree objects on grass tiles.
I've decided to make an overriding pack, for those who want to change the look of the game for their favorite modules and PWs, as well as an overriding hak for those, who want to change the appearance of the tileset for their module.
Caution: use with care if you're running the game on an slow PC with an old videocard. The models are quite heavy and for now I've got no plans for further optimization.
Update: placeable pack added. It's not ready for use and only contains the tree models with their PWKs, no placeables.2da with proper lines included.
Update #2: modified several trees I've missed in the first release.
Update #3: another placeable pack added: this one modifies two basic bioware placeable trees to match the override look and feel. TNO-based trees are not affected.
On the technical side of things... I suspect that the override folder can handle small overrides, like the one for the Bioware Tree Placeables (which works perfect for me), but not large ones like the big Tree Upgrade itself. So, I'm using the aforementioned small override and for the Tree Upgrade I'm using the Hak Pak, as I mentioned in my vote. This combo runs with not a single problem; smooth as butter! The fault lies not with your pack, but with the way the override folder is inclined to handle its' resources. A lot of newer ATI drivers may indeed be bugged when it comes to Nwn, since I had to fall back to the last Omega driver to obtain ideal performance. The newer drivers were scrambling the title screen after movies played, but the Omega drivers ran correctly. So, for folks with ATI cards, I recommend the last Omega driver highly! Another odd trick for increasing performance in Nwn that nobody ever thought of is this (it's odd, but it works): in the game's nwn.ini file, under the Display Options section, set the Refresh Rate to 0 instead of whatever it detected for your card; the game's performance increased massively for me when I did this, and may work for others, too. ;) I'm running in 800x600, so your milage may vary depending of your resolution when combined with the refresh rate trick. Also, always make sure you are running on one core, since that also affects performance and it's easy to forget. That's it for now; thank you again for this magnificent tree pack, helvene! It's truly a must-have. :D

The Hak Pak runs flawlessly, and the Bioware Tree Placeables update is just as perfect; I was able to build huge forests using these two sets and had no lag or slowdown whatsoever. I was unable to use the override versions, however, since they were plagued by lag and slowdown, but since I prefer Hak Paks to overrides anyway, I'll not deduct any points for that. Truly, I must give this a 10.00; it's beautiful!

>> my players and I get lost with the trees not clipping anymore (eg. you stand near a grove, but if the view if from behind the trees, they dont clip) Not sure about this camera position, but if you're looking at your character from the above, the foliage *should* fade, I've checked every tile for this. Maybe the problem is, that when the tile meshes are not positioned between the character model and the camera, they would not fade at all. Which most likely happens when you're looking from below. Though I'm not sure this is exactly what you've run into. _________________________ NWN haks [Additional Bedrooms] [Arcanum Castle] [Big Forest Tree] [Caverns and Mines Expansion] [Desert Streams and Oasis merge] [Fancy Crates] [Forest Expansion] [More Trees] [Natural Caves] [Tracks] [Wooden Elven Interiors + Placeables] [Workshop Tileset] [Isengard Tower for Mountains] [Mineable Rocks] [Marble Elven Interiors + Placeables] [Arena Tileset] [Archer Towers] [Maze Tileset] [White Marble Castle] [Underdark Ruins] [Suspended City for Bioware Forest] _________________________ NWN Overrides [Bioware Rural Trees Override] [Bioware Winter Rural Trees Override] [Rural and Forest Overriding Fixes] _________________________ NWN2 [Alternative Tree Textures] _________________________ Legacy of Netheril third revision tileset haks Amen NWN PW Hakpak

just now got around to checking out in game. WOW! NoOneReally I bet usen the mouse wheel and press it to adjust the camra view shorty will help you and other view around a bit better. If some of your players don't dig the mouse wheel asure em they will get better the more they use it. I know a lot of folks like to leave their camera view alone. I insist it is a good skill with NWN to develop.

Nice work mate :) I couldn't give it a 10 though, but possibly because of something I have yet to work out as no one else seems to have mentioned the issue - my players and I get lost with the trees not clipping anymore (eg. you stand near a grove, but if the view if from behind the trees, they dont clip). Now, I have the same issue with LOW's SF (and hence why I started looking at the ol ye faithful rural tileset again for dense stands of forest), so it could very well be my bad....a 10 for sure if this was resolved either way ;) Advice? Cheers! _________________________ ************************************************* Ravenloft Core Systems Link Ravenloft Core Modules Link Ravenloft Denizens of Darkness: Link

I absolutely love this ... especially when combined with Toro's override. Definitely gives new life to NWN1. I have no problems on my antique PC, but my friend's Mac did develop a terrible "stutter." His loss.
