Updated for SoU Inspired by Storvik's scaled dragons, my daughter Jade Monkey (11 years old) had the idea it would be cool to have dragon eggs which could hatch in the game. So this hak has models for eggs of all the dragon colors with three different positions (upright, lying on side, and slightly leaned). Also, another scaled dragon size (hatchling, slightly smaller and weaker than Storvik's wyrmlings) of each color is included and the scripts to make them hatch. The eggs will hatch if the PC gets close to them or if they are damaged. If the egg is green, a green hatchling will emerge; if the egg is red, a red hatchling will emerge...etc.

Just noticed that I hadn't voted for this hak, although I've been using the content now for awhile. Really sweet work. Yhanks a bunch!

love the eggs. changed the dragons to commoners and defenders plus hostile and they are in my Dragon Cave mod now fighting everyone and each other. messed with their stats and they can be vicious little dears.
I just voted to give you both a 10 and it clicked on I don't know what number! So, I thought I verbalize instead.
Fabulous idea! More More!

These eggs are great, I had two prblems tho (both solved).
1. the Egg's dont appear unless they are at the top of my
Pack list(but thats not a real problem).
2. i had a script error with tk_egghatch. my versoin of the
toolset doesn't have the function GetResRef(). i did
solve this buy changin it to GetTag and then changing
the first letter of the match string to be a capital
letter.
this may help some people.
this hak is great thank a lot. :)

Thanks for all the comments. We really enjoyed making it and are glad to see others find it useful. We understand and agree with all the comments about the small dragon body type, wings (although I'm sure a hatchling would have at least vestigal wings), etc. However, we just used |snakeyes| model scaling program which preserves the model exactly; just in a smaller size. It would be a lot more work to further customize the model and we wanted to go ahead to some other projects. If you didn't guess, the textures are clipped and modified from a portion of the actual dragon skin textures.
We may update this later with a real hatching animation.

I'm guessing the textures you used are Bumpmap. Thats about how I imagine dragon eggs to be like :) good job

Give the man a brake....this is a really handy hak, using it you can make a better dragon lair...

The eggs are too big for the hatchlings you've made.
They also look more like eggs for the Easter Bunny.
Posted by Kurgan ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-03-20 08:54:00
Hmmmm, I may give clipping the hatchling wings a try later tonight. I might also brighten up the Chromatic Dragon models and darken the Metallic Dragon models to match 3e MM description of younger dragons.

The textures on these eggs kinda freak me out a la Alien. They look like dragons in orb form, and that is creepy. Nonetheless, very nice models, textures (albeit creepy to me), and scripts. A nice addition to mods involving a dragon's den and stealing their eggs. Kudos.

I'm not sure about reptiles but animal babies have different body type than adults. Their legs are shorter (or longer in horses and etc), eyes and head bigger. I guess that the wing point is true too.

The only thing that gets me about all the hatchlings people have been making for the dragons is that they all have wings. It would be nice to see hatchlings with either numbs or no wings at all.
