Has the floating on this model been fixed?
I'll down load it tonight and check, but just wondered. Seems a shame such a good looking model has such a basic fault...

Finnaly a hairy footed halfling! The models for halfings in
bioware look more like kender minus the pointy ears. Now
you need to make a gnome model with thicker thighs and
shorter arms.

Hey guys.....one question how do I add this piece of art
into my Tolkien mod?

I actually prefer the slimmer, hairless foot halflings.
But I still like the hobbit type, and this model is superb.

From what I remember, Wizards of the Coast had originally
removed the Gnome from the 3rd Edition of the game
entirely, and the streamlined Halfling was supposed to fill
the role for both races. Due to the popularity of the
race, however, they included Gnomes in the final version
without returning the Halfling to its original state.
Because of this we now have Halflings that look like Human
children and Gnomes were given really long arms in NWN to
differentiate, although it doesn't appear to be a racial
trait in the 3rd Edition of the game. Fact is, there was a
mistake made, and for some reason, the people who wanted
the Tolkien Halfling lost out on the deal. I guess it was
easier to just add Gnome art than to redo all of the
Halfling work that was done.

The first "non-traditional/Non-Tolkien" Hobbit that I can
recall are the cannibalistic race of Halflings from the
Dark Sun rulesets. Still short, still quick and stealthly,
but slim, and no hairy feet. Oh. . There was the whole
humanoid-flesh eatin' thing. .

Nice cloak. One question: why does the figure float approx.
3 feet above the ground?

D&D was created in 1972 (although the rules it was based
off of - Chainmail - came even earlier than that).
The Lord of the Rings was first published in 1954 and The
Hobbit in 1938.

WHile it looks good, a lil' comment to molo67
1. the book of Lord of the Rings came out in the 70's.
2. D&D was, if I remember, created in the 80's
3. In both, halflings/hobbits have hairy feet
Start reading books ;)

This model looks great! I bet if the Lord of the rings
movie came out before the 3rd ed. rules they never would
have changed the halfling. Long live halflings with hairy
feet!

OMG that looks so sweet. If you could please do one for
sorcerer/wizard i would be ever gratefull

Bear in mind that this is because Wizards of the Coast
changed the general look and behavior of the halflings over
to that of the kender within 3rd edition DnD. NWN is based
off of the d20 ruleset in there so naturally they are gonna
use what is in the players handbook as a guideline. ^_^
And WTG on the model. I hafta agree with Athis.. its an
awesome version of halfings and the very image that most
see the Hobbit halfling types as!

This is one of the best " Hobbit" models I have seen, very
very nice job.
It would be cool to have a full set of halfling/hobbit
style models added to NWN!
( IMO the current Halflings that are in the Aurora toolset
look more like kender, and less like hobbits )
