What I was going to say, before I removed and deleted what I just wrote, is that this blade, while is extremely detailed and given alot of texturing, ending up witha quite decent result, with quite a few objects spent, isn't that useful... Like said, it consists of 28 000 polygons and the entire scene takes a long time to render. Try to make an animation with the sword where you wave it around. That's how much it is going to affect the game.
Otherwise it is a brilliantly made sword, I think you should go pro in 3ds Max within modeling, rather than game-modeling. Games are such weak things.

Dude...Money
Absolute money. Best sword design and work done that ive seen posted on nwn vault. u said leave suggestions for other weapons: u should look at the old Baldurs gate stuff for ideas, alot of those things would appeal to fans, as well try for an evil weapon.

Well
sword design awesome... and for the diablo post down there, he is talking about the design.
At least from what I can figure out as your sword looks almost compltely like one in a diablo2 concept pic(which isnt surprising the cross design is ornamental medieval english style.
Poly count however is FAR to high for the detail.
If you saved the unsmoothed version or havent collapsed the history in your file, try a bevel on all the squareish surfaces. With reflection maps you cant tell the diffrence, go over smoothing and ajusting verticies and you should come out with something that look the same in the render but which is only 2-3k polies.
Also...the blade could really do with a fuller , handle is photo realistic, but the blade looks +blocked+ because there is no detail and no edge reflections where the blade angles down to form the blade edge. Infact the blade looks oval...
Smoothing once... then selecting the verts instead and unselecting the EDGE verts up the blade and smoothing again will give a edge... not sure how effective :P
so if your still reading this area :)
Infact, if you can fix the problems with your blade, I wouldnt mind getting the fixed version for my own personal modeling use.

My God, can somebody please please please create a module with a cutscene in which this blade is used. It's f***ing stunning! And good job on that diablo thing DJ.

This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 24 that made this score of 8.42 then rounded to 8.

It's really nice... can't seem to figure out how to make it work. Out of curiosity, what base item did you use? It looks longer than the NWN longsword, but Shorter than the Bastard Sword...

Could someone repost this file in proper toolset usable form?

Nice work, I look forward to seeing more. It's also nice to see I'm not the only one out here who's been roleplaying since the late 70's. Thanks for your contribution.

DUDE BARKS THATS FU**IN AWSOME............LOL HOW DO U MAKE THIS STUFF!?
Posted by Doomar ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-05-23 09:56:00
Hey, dude that's a cool sword. It maybe a little too good for NWN but your work is good; attention to detail makes a positive difference when putting togethe a module. Hope we get to see more of your work in the future.

Holy Avenger is the paladinsword from THOB. It is also named Carsomyr. It should be fun to use this in NWN, but how???
Posted by Peregrine ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-04-06 22:03:00
Now, think here.
25k polys...
.max file
Is this for in game? Hell no! Go make a nice cinematic with it. It's obviously for such things, it's too detailed to be an in game weapon.

this sword is shall i say f.....g too much. peace out

that is tooo damn cool.... -snags-
make um.. Ultima Weapon from FF7 yeah!!! heh um just a suggestion anyway... seeing this I am sure you could do a great job on any sword...

It would be just nice to have the whole game with the same quality. Let us wish that one day it'll become true. Anyway, good job here, no mistake!
Posted by Kain ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-02-05 09:40:00
Very nice sword, but how the hell do you expect anyone to
run it? Most of the time there aren't even 25,000 polygons
on screen, that's why most weapons are like less than 300
polys.

Barks... it's a wonderful work you do...

This model may look cool but the polycount is insane. At
over 25,000 polys it's not anywhere near good for NWN to
use. It's really to bad too, the model looks really good,
but wouldn't be worth it to NWN.
Posted by Symon ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-10-28 03:29:00
To use a model in game it needs to be exported from 3dsmax
as .mdl file, NOT .max
This is a .max file, so it cannot be used by NWN. I don't
have 3dsmax myself, otherwise I'd post a copy of this RE-
exported. =/

How do you actually make use of this in the game?
Thanks,

First, DJ...great job!
2nd..I can't say exactly when "avenger" became *real* BUT...
I _am_ looking at an Advanced D&D 2nd Ed Dungeon Masters
guide printed in 1989 ( should be the original copy ) and
on page 140..If you roll a 6 with a D20, you get a +5 Holy
Avenger.

the pic looks cool, but where do i put this file so i can
see it in the game?
