Title  Treant v1.1
Author  Ice-Child
Submitted / Updated  09-23-2002 / 09-29-2002
Category  Monsters
Description
I had to make one for our Module. I start with the Troll supermodel and ended up with this. It isnt a bad reproduction of a Treant. We liked it enough that I got it first try. didnt have to do any retakes with textures or modeling. Now on to my next project. Thought Eater and an Osquip. I should be able to post this tonight. Am just making some fine adjustments to textures and a little on the animations. Will be ready by tomorrow at the latest.

From what I recall in seeing the adaptation of J.R. Tolkien's vision on the big screen, for this game and it's limitation, this is very good work indeed.

This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 13 that made this score of 7.23 then rounded to 7.

Very cool Treant! Nice work.
However, I do see a Treant as a very big tree, like a 50 year old oak or something...
Wonder when will a Treant like the ones on LOTR: The Two Towers show up for NWN. ^^

looks great and sounds great but i can't get the ****ing

i still can't get it to show in the appearence drop-down

It's definitely a good first go. I don't think we've had
any treants in game so far, so this is a good start! Can't
wait to see updates and new ones.

Norbert, here the steps you need to do in order to use
hakpak monsters in general:

1) Download this the Hakpak and place the unzipped Hak
file into your NWN Hak directory.
2) Link the hak file to your module by going Edit
menu\Module Properties, then select the Advanced tab and
for Hak file choose the desired hak file in your Hak
directory.
3) Place a creature in an area. (It shouldn't matter which
one. I typical choose one that is closest in relation to
the new creature being added.)
4) Right-click on the existing creature and select
Properties.
5) The Appearance drop-down in the creature Properties
window you will see the entries for the desired creature
model. (for the Treant model you need to select the first
Troll in the list)
6) Make sure to give the creature the necessary skills and
feats etc. in order for it to use whatever weapon you want
them to use.
7) Right-click on the newly adjust creature in the area
and select Add to Palette and make final adjustments to
the Tag name and BlueprintResRef. (Now you can use them
whereever and whenever you want in your module.)

If you are wanting to use multiple Hak files you will need
to add each of the Hak files' contents into a single Hak
file. Look for a nifty utility called HAKCombine, its
convenient tool that combines hakpaks into one.

Wow didn't mean to be insulting to the author I was just to
express my own frustration with my inability to make use of
this very well done looking model. Altho Kryss i did notice
you were brave enough to post your real email addy ..... Oh
wait its not a valid email adress. Ahh well then sorry Ice-
Child if i came off rude that wasn't very considerate of me.

Posted by Kryss ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-10-03 10:16:00
Montibank, have some respect you ignorant prick. unless
of course you can do better.

Posted by Montibank ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-10-02 16:42:00
gah how do you use the flipping thing!!!!! read me isnt
very helpful!!

Just waiting on it to update fella's. (And ladies.) I put
the hak into update. just a few minutes ago. So as soon as
Maximus can get the chance to update the sustem it will be
available. Like I said it was first attempt. Not to be
final. But we liked it and are going to use it. Well sort
of. A modified version of it anyway. But its available now.
If you want to use it great. If you dont then great. It is
here for those that do. But thanks for your input. Pushes
me in the right direction.

Am currently working on a fullscale Treant in GMax. Almost
have it ready for testing. Animations giving me a fit. Will
post when its ready to beta.

Thanks,
Rob

I love the model but, to be honest I have always envisioned
treants as more tree like. Still this could be very useful
especially if you made a modified version of biowares
zombie corpse script (its really easy I made dwarfs in a
chest in my mod) and put it on tree placeables it would be
cool.

Posted by Ice-Child ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-09-27 14:27:00
Well since I have been getting all sorts of request to go
ahead and post this. Guess I will. Give me a bit to get it
up. I opened my email and had three more request there.
Makes about 50 or so people that asked for it.

When you see it say version 1.1 it will be ready.

Posted by wbaldwin ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-09-27 07:12:00
How about you go ahead and upload your current version so
that we could use what you got anyway?

Real players dont care if it isnt 100% perfect.

You just set some trees in the area. Set a trigger. Destroy
the trees and activate your encounter.

How about it? Upload something. :)

Ice-Child, just a brief thanks for the idea of using a
barkskinned troll for a treant. I don't use haks except to
see what they look like in a game, so the treants (trolls)
in the mod I'm building will get a permanent barkskin and
entangle visual on them when they spawn in. While it kind
of looks like the poor fellows are walking upside down, I
like them, and I'll be giving you credit for the barkskin
effect. :)

Posted by Ice-Child ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-09-25 22:55:00
I am getting there. This is more of a Treant Kin then
anything else. I think I have the problem solved. I am
still working animations though. I built a treet. Think
like an Oak. Put a face on it and moving limbs. The roots
are the feet. Just trying to figure out how to get them so
they right moving. I have a working model of it. It just
doesnt look right yet. When I get it done I will post it
for download.

Thanks for the input though. To everyone.

Some of the poeple who post here are complete morons. This
is a pretty good model, it resembles a treant, but i
thought one would be closer looking to a great oak tree or
such. in any event, it's still pretty cool. Can't wait to
see your other stuff

STOP POSTING SUTFF HERE UNTIL YOU'VE FINSIHED THE FILE ICE-
CHILD, GEEZ! YOU HAVE @#%$&^! FOR BRAINS!

Posted by Mystic_Nexus ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-09-24 17:23:00
I definitely needed a Treant!
Cant wait to try it...

Posted by Ice-Child ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-09-24 15:43:00
Well first off. I needed something that could move and at
least look like it was moving. I am working on a thicker
legged version which is why there isnt a file to upload yet.

As for teh others. Which other? Tell me which one caught
your attention and I will get it uploaded. I am getting
things done as fast as I can. This is the area that you are
supposed to post things in progress. Like tile sets and
models. At least that is my understanding. Anyway tell me
which one you want and I will make sure it has a file to it.

Posted by Anonymous ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-09-24 15:40:00
Doesn't look like a Treant. I belive Treants look more like
trees.

Posted by Anonymous ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-09-24 11:19:00
Have you not realized that Ice-Child very seldom posts
files with his uploads? This is the 3rd or 4th time he has
put something here and then you read the description and it
says I will post the file later as I am still working on it.

Posted by Voidrazor ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2002-09-24 10:22:00
Looks cool. But the file didn't upload.
