With help of the wing models posted months back, I added them to the base a_ba models and gave them animation. By adding wings to NPC that use the a_ba models as supers or adding them to PC chest models and then using these models as the supers, you can spawn NPCs/mobs with animated angels wings. Demon wings could be animated in a similar fashion (should the wings be modelled properly). NOTE - The wings used on these 4 base models are HIGH polycount (10k). They are not might. I have no clue how to model well ;)
This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 6 that made this score of 5.67 then rounded to 6.

Sorry about not reponding. Been very busy, just now checking this out :)
So, first off, the wings that are in the models that are in the RAR file downloadable from this page (phew, that was long) are high-poly. With such a high-poly, there is no way to seemlessly put them in the game. If you find or make low-poly wings and then divide them into three sections like the wings in the .mdl files (see the contents of the RAR) and, finally, substitute them in for those wings, you can create winged creatures with full wing animations.
Make sense? ;)
NWN uses base models for most humanoid creature. This base model is a_ba. You cannot create a creature with an instance of a_ba. It serves as a model reference and nothing more. What you can do is create a model with all the same parts in 3D Studio Max (or GMax or whatever) and then set it's SUPER to be a_ba and it'll use the a_ba animations and work properly in NWN. The a_baWings and the other 3 .mdl files that are in the RAR function in the same way.
Let me try and give an example walkthrough of how one could take this animations and create a working deva (or solar or whatever) in the game...
1) Download the RAR file from this site and un-rar with WinRAR or whatever decompression agent you prefer
2) Open a_baWings.mdl in 3D Studio Max, GMax, or whatever. Examine the wings on the model. Note how the divisions are made.
3) Find or create new wings to use on all 4 mdl files. Divide the wings in a similar fashion to those currently in the .mdl files.
4) Following the modelling guides posted everywhere in the NWN modelling community, replace the old wings with the new wings
Break - You now have loadable winged base humanoid models. The total polycount should be under 1500 (I think)
Now you want to make a winged elf, because.. like... they rock. There are two ways to do this-
The easy, inflexible way = extract a pre-made elf model from NWN. Attach the new wings (see earlier in the post) to said model. Save whole model. Change 2da files to add new creature. Put models, 2da, textures, whatever in HAK. Import hakpak in toolset. Creature new winged elf. Blahblahblah. In essence, you just created a new creature.
The hard, flexible way = extract ALL the possible elf armor torsos from NWN. Attach the new wings to each one of the torsos. Save each model appropriately (whether you over-write or not is up to you). Change 2da files appropriately for adding new armor pieces. Put 2da files, all models, textures, etc in a HAK. Import hakpak in toolset. Create a new elf and change the (un)armored torso to be the one with wings. In essence, you just created a new set of armor.
I've done both ways and have all possible armor torsos for all possible races setup to use wings. BUT (and this is the hard part)- I still DO NOT have low-poly wings to substitute in. Once I got those, I could probably have an entire celestial army hakpak uploaded in short time.
But now you know what to do. So do it ;)

Quick question from an idiot...
What do I do to put this in the game? I'm hoping to put these wings in the single player of NWN, but if that isn't possible, could someone tell me how to put this into a user created module? in idiot speak?
thanks!!

I'm going to make a mod with a city of flying elves from BGII now :)

This sounds cool, but I'm not sure how to use them, do I
put the files into a hak pak to get them to work? That's
what I'm figuring but I'm not too sure.

PC's can use them?
Can they be selected on Charcter creation?

Nice Work!
Goodlooking Wings with great Animations.
How do you make the animations? By hand with 3DsMax?
Why don't you use a Biped System with Character Studio,
it's incompatible with the NWN Animations, isn't it?

Would it be possible to add wings to an elven model? I
would LOVE to create an Avariel, but I can't do that
without 1: Wings, or 2: making her just like the Avariel
from BGII who had hers chopped off. I would love to make a
city of Avariel, but that's not going to work right if the
wings are only on human torsos.
If anyone can lower the polycount, and add them to elves,
then I would definitely download them.

Hi,
I don't know why that occurs in GMax. I do have 3DS max (I
like Character Studio) and that's where I did the
animations. If I get time and hard drive space, I'll
download GMax and see what the deal is. Sorry I can't be
of more help =/

DantePN -
This is a great move forward, and I've been hoping someone
would start working on something like this. The City of
Doors initiative should be able to take this and run with
it. The polycount is too high, but I'm hoping that someone
clever will be able to tone it down by an order of
magnitude or so.
