This is a sword called a Falcata. I actually have one of these. Check out http://swordforum.com/swords/deltin/dt-falcata.html to see what it's actually supposed to look like. I left the poly count very high, figuring that somebody can reduce them optimally. It'd be cool if somebody could make a texture for it that gives it a fuller (or 'blood groove' as some call it) like the real thing). I'd like to see some more varieties of realistic, historical weapons. The size should be able 25' overall - or it can be longer (that would be like an earlier version - a Greek 'kopis').
This is a compilation of the old system into a single score. There were 4 that made this score of 7.00 then rounded to 7.

Maybe you could make a small adition that between the blade
and handle that is more of an extention of the handle than
a cross piece.

Thanks for the comments and compliments. Silent Blade, the blade curves inward, like the kukri - the edge is on the inside curve.
Danmar, I'll see if I can do some more work on it. I actually originally made the model long before NWN came out, and I was intending to use it for 3D still image rendering (I had intended to make it even more highly detailed that it is now, with bevelled handle, and a real modelled fuller). The original model is in nurbs format, so I may be able to make it more game-suitable if I put some thought into it. I don't know what to do about a crosspiece, since the blade doesn't have one - I suppose one could make an invisible crosspiece, just like the invisible blade that somebody else made?

Nice model but in regards to NWN a couple of things. One
all weapons in NWN are composed of three parts, blade,
crosspiece and handgrip+pommel. Because the weapon of each
type are designed to mix and match they 'should' end and
start, (each piece that is), at about the same 3d space.
Not to say it can't be ignored. Some of BW's weapons
pieces in combination don't match. Blades that float in
air or have hair thin join section.
Second this model has about 10 times the number of polys
that an average weapon set has in NWN. It has over 4 times
the polys of a whole character. :) Its pretty impossible
to optimize it as it stands.
Now with that said, it is a nice blade. But to get it into
NWN someone will have take the shape of the object and
craft from scratch.
This isn't criticism of the model as a model. Just
pointing out what its going to take to get a weapon of this
shape into the game engine.
Just as a FYI for anyone wishing to craft a nwn weapon set
based on this, a 'typical' weapon set (aka all three
pieces) has between 50 polys for say a club set, to a
couple of hundred for the top end items like the funkier
bows or odder blades.
