After spending a night in the forest, you continue your way to the city of Hameln. The trip was uneventful until a supernatural encounter leads you to investigate a castle, which was deserted hundred years ago

A bug regarding the torture minions becoming hostile.
I had to use the dm_setfaction hostile command to complete the module.
Too many modules regarding going to another plain on a different world, but it's worth a run through. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

A nice little adventure. I'd have liked to see more mods continuing the story begun here (er... or in The Picture in the House, I guess).

"Haunted" was one of the first mods I downloaded, when I first chanced upon the Neverwinter Vault. I was, at that time... looking for any decent horror themed modules to play; and when fate led me to download this one, I had no idea just *how* good it was going to be. This module is big on atmosphere, and equally big on story. The areas, were a bit like something out of a 3D Castlevania and I mean that in a good way since there is no bigger fan of Castlevania than myself. Perhaps it was the flying-skull-type creatures that made me think of Castlevania, as well! The design of the ghosts... was absolutely perfect, making me wonder at first how effects like that were done, and they in turn inspired the way that I have designed ghosts in my modules. The story, was almost like a short story by Lovecraft or Poe where you have a cursed castle with a very tragic past... a manipulative demon, hiding in a tiny "neaby-but-distant" dimension, and an arcane ritual that is required by the player just to set things right. The Evil Dead reference was not lost on me, and I myself used Klaatu Barrada Nikto for magic words in a section of my module Knights of the Holy Grail (although in a totally different context, of course). All in all, I loved "Haunted" and although I wished it had of been longer, I must still give this a 10.00! Not because it doesn't have it's flaws but rather because it overcomes those flaws, to deliver a solid story and a fun game. This module deserves a place in the Hall of Fame, and I am proud to offer the 25th vote needed to put it there!

Liked the setting and the back story to the module, however for a lvl9 fighter i found the encounters far too easy and the module as a whole far too high-treasure. With a some more/harder monsters and less loot i think it could really be fun.

There are really two ratings for this mod - one for environment/atmosphere (great), and one for appropriate combat/loot (poor).
Yeehoo has done a great job making a module that looks/sounds/feels spooky. So for that, nice job. I did enjoy the mod.
One note that others have noted - you must have your options set to allow PvP or you will have problems with one area.
** Very, very minor spoilers ahead **
But this mod really falls down, in my opinion, because the majority of encounters are designed for levels far below the recommended character level. Characters level 8-12 shouldn't be fighting rats and skeletons. A few of the later combats were pumped up a bit, but my 9th level barbarian/fighter had absolutely no trouble with anything.
Also, I understand the author's intent to leave a lot of loot lying around to make up for the fact that there is no store, but what has been done is basically leave a whole store lying around to pick up for free. That's not a great solution.

SOOOO creepy! Some clever scripting as well. The atmosphere was very similar to the Thief games, which we liked a lot (right down to the "loot").
It would have been nice to have a few improvements to spelling/grammar, though . . . :-) _________________________ Time Becomes a Loop - short, story-driven time travel mod!

If you talk to the servant, he'll give you a combo, I think it's like 10,5,8 for the table next to him. Click on the table and a list of numbers willpop up. Put in the ones he gave you, you get the key. Cake. So far, the mod is great. I played your other one, The Picture in The House. That was creepy....I played it before I went to sleep last night. Yeah-not the best time, house is quiet, spooky noises coming from the speakers. But I checked the boards here for another problem, but I found it below. I had problems with the torture minions, too. Back to the game now....

Thanks for playing , Don . The broken lever mean nothing in the mod. I'm not sure why you can't get key to the roof top from the servant thought, it have been a long time , so I can't remember exactly what I did , but I know that if you just talk to the servant he will give you the key.... thanks again.

Parts of this moare good. However, I can't get the key from the servant. The only broken lever I can find is on the first floor, near trhe main gate. Don't put combination locks in modules, they waste my precious time. Bummer I can't finish this mod. I could rate it higher.

Very good little module.
Got stuck once or twice but got all the answers here.
Also it is a very good module for a weak to average character, there is little or no challenge for your best melee character. It was my mistake to play this with a paladin lvl 10+ although it was quite refreshing to focus on the story, enjoy the atmosphere and not worry too much about the next monster behind the door.

Is the ghost a little boy ? you just need to find a key in the coffin. speaking to the ghost is not necessary.
Thank for playing anyway. :)

Hi. I got a problem with this mod... whenever I try to speak with any of the ghosts -from the one you encounter in the beginning to those in the mausoleum- I can't manage to do it, and i receive an error message. The game doesn't crash or anything. Just can't talk to the ghost, and I can't go any further than the mausoleum. What can be the problem? Thanks for any insight...
Btw. I downloaded the mod from Unforgotten, not from here... maybe that was an old version?
Best regards
