Replayed chapter I, II and III with a lvl 5 barbarian/ranger/fighter, played chapter IV with a fighter lvl 7 and chapter V with a rogue/fighter/SD lvl 9.

I found some good, some bad and some ugly design decisions. Overall, I would side with the reviewer and score accordingly but I still think this unfinished vintage campaign is not really worth downloading.

Despite the assumed difficulty of trying this solo (hardcore setting) I really had a good time playing this one. I played with a rogue without any equipment (not even clothes) or gold but managed to buy a sling eventually (and used fists in melee). I even did fight a few monsters who managed to spot my apprentice scout but none of them did hit me even once. For this one my score should be closed to 7.75 but due to the lack of well balanced level one module I am giving this one an extra point.

I enjoyed it very much. Very challenging since we didn't level and we had no henchdudes. We've moved on to mod 2. Woohoo!!

Yes, you can play it with 2. In fact, much of my testing was done with 2 people. It's difficult, as you're off the low-end for scaling, but it's entirely possible. Parthenon was built to be a party experience, so you'll be missing out on a lot. It was initially envisioned as a tradditional D&D campaign but without the painfully slow pen and paper mechanics. My advice is to play it at a lan party, which is where it really shines.

thanks for this mod,
I've just finish it with my bros (only two player). The world you have created seem realistic (every interior building are build even if it useless for the story), the map is well designed, the loading time between area is short. And, for the first time in multi player, we run away some fight (near the burning chariots) and sneak away... we have laughed a lot!!! We jump into chap 2!!!!

just a silly question: We are only 2 for playing this game? is it possible?

This module series captures the feel of a PnP campaign. I would recommend it to anyone interested in a multiplayer campaign which is story driven. It lacks polish in some respects, but I found the whole series thoroughly enjoyable. I thought the pace of levelling was perfect (slower than many other modules) , and the handing out of experience at the end encourages avoiding unnecessary combat.
The intro movies add a bit of flavour, but I would definately only download them on broadband.
This module was a great introduction to the Parthenon world, and I liked how we weren't 'guided by dreams' or 'a great prophecy' from day one.

Can't give an 8.5, so you got rounded up :) Excellent way to start a 1st-level character on an epic adventure - other module-makers, take note!

Hi Teiwaz,

We just played through all five chapters of Parthenon pretty much in one go (allowing for sleep and that thing called "real life"), and I really enjoyed it! I think you have captured the essence of a PnP game, probably better than in any other module I've played.

I really dislike when a 1st level character is thrown into the midst of a plot to Save The World, because - why should anyone trust a 1st level adventurer, let alone entrust them with such a weighty task? In that regard I think your module was a -perfect- way to start a campaign with 1st level characters. There were hints that something large was about to happen, but our task was trivial, and nobody was willing to place all their hopes on our shoulders. Well done!

I also felt that the pacing of this module was quite good - it seemed like we did the right amount of stuff to qualify for levelling up.

Finally, I enjoyed the touches of humour you sprinkled throughout the module, although I am glad that you later abandoned the sillier dialogue such as "I think a witch has put a hex on me ... I can only say ten, eleven things". While it was a very funny jibe at normal NWN commoners, I felt it was a little too close to "meta-gaming" (that's not the right term ... but I can't come up with anything better at the moment) for me. However, I loved the "Secret Gobbo Camp" sign - brilliant!

My score: 8.5 [Sorry, I can't vote :( ]

This module seemed to have a lot of work. Yet it was empty in so many places. The directions said go north, and yet you had to go south. Then after hours of playing without getting xp, you get just enough to make level two. Then the game forcefully sends you from the game without a chance to export. So its all for nothing.
Hence annoyed me greatly. 1
