Alignments
Upon entry of the module, your character's alignment will be tweaked in response to faction settings, and other scriptural game play elements.
Description
Background Story: Having traveled a country path for some days, you enter a chillfully unwelcoming forest. Taking rest in the unnatrually dark woodland, you awaken by scattered rain drops that quickly turn into a heavy downpour. Heading back doesn't seem to be an option at this point. In the far distance you see a wagon blockade maneuvered by three village hands who appear terribly frightened by some invisible predator lurking deep within the forest. Perhaps they have an understanding why you feel such a great evil around you...
The Henchmen Script is also stalled right now, as the wrong variable is being assigned to the player at either Module-start or when entering a Henchmen local. I'm thinking about, potentially, reworking the module at it's natural 1.30 NWN Original iteration for some smaller bugs and the many grammatical errors found throughout. We'll see.
Until then, fixing the henchmen script shouldn't be too large a bother for anyone who can open the aurora toolset.
Other noted NWN-1.30 bugs: Force-field Woods fail, B. Camp Respawn rate too high.
Please note that the last version of NWN that this module, "Small Village Woes," was designed for was NWN-1.30, which you can download online by doing a Google search. The NWN (Original) 1.10 - 1.30 patch is available at multiple sites as a stand-alone update.

Sure, why not.

Woah... Woah....
Woah, I guess a lot can happen when you don't visit for five or seven years. Small Village Woes won some awards? Get out of here! That's pretty fun. And it landed in the Module Hall of Fame? That is pretty awesome, as well.
For everyone who's going to get their retro fix out of this game, I hope you enjoy it. I can't remember what NWN version was the last that I coded 'SVW' for. But I do know it was a much earlier edition than whatever was the latest of the auto-update service from Bioware.
I could definitely see myself re-installing NWN1 and touching up (what I can) the dialogue for grammar mistakes, punctuations issues, and predominately a couple of script errors that halt the henchmen integration.
Reading all of this has given me such a hardcore flashback, I can't even really begin to describe it.

Some weird scripting prevents saving in the final area. I also expected more in a 23 MB mod, but I guess most went towards being dominated. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

Not going to go too deep into this comment since the author no longer seems to keep checking back here.
It was a very original experience and I loved the story and the ending. It had its own systems when it comes to selling/buying and had a very original dialog-tree for the PC. Instead of saying a complete comment, like "I agree with you fully, that's the best way to go" it simply states, for example; "You decide to agree with the person.".
Felt very original and polished. I found a couple of minior bugs but other than that I'd have to say that this is a near master-piece but it did have a couple of bugs and some other problems. So I'll give it a 9.25 vote. :)
Everyone: your VOTES are highly appriciated. A vote is like gold for an author. No kiddin'. ;)

I don't know if the mod maker is still reading this, but I'm trying to play it with version 1.68 of NWN and I can't hire the henchmen, they think that they are already hired by someone else. It could be because I have TonyK's Henchmen AI scripts installed, but I don't know. Just a head's up if the mod designer is interested. Still going to try and finish it!

This is Bort, Son of Bort - creator of Small Village Woes. As you can see by my latest message board post, I haven't updated the game in nearly a year. I cannot even imagine what scripts are not working by this point. When NWN version 1.30 came out, it screwed up a ton o' scripts in SVW. Some of them are much more obvious than others. I had spent a year making and coding all of the specific unique scripts in SVW, and was pretty burnt out.
I'd be interested to see if there isn't anyone out there who might like to pick up where I left off, and expand the little world I created. Send me an email at... [email protected] if anyone is.

I also had a problem at the end game. I killed the skeleton thing but then nothing but low level respawns. Probably a broken script.
I'm running nwn/sou/hotu 1.62; smw 1.23

Some serious spelling issues, but overall a really good opening level module with a wonderful ending.
