A routine patrol in the woods near your home turns up strange new fork in the road, leading to a run-down tower. Outside this tower is a very angry wizard who's having some trouble with his apprentice... A short adventure designed for a small party of low-level characters. Version 1.02 released February 13th, 2004
Finished the module last night with a 1st level paladin. This is the first module I've played and I was impressed. Really liked the entryway design. The story was a good length for an evening's playing - reminded me a bit of the Tunnels & Trolls adventure books from the 80's (but I digress). I have a (spoilerish) question: does the Master Wizard always give you an unfavourable reaction at the store? I was unable to get a favourable reaction at any level. All in all very enjoyable- didn't notice any obvious bugs.

This was a fun detour on my character's journey from humble beginnings to epic adventures. The cutscenes were perfectly placed (though yes, zoom them out a bit please). Golem construction was definitely the highlight. Great job.

Jason, Great job! I just downloaded and played through The Apprentice last night. Excellent scripting with the cut-scenes and the rune-stone encounters. The golem exercise was fun as well. I personally enjoy shorter modules (this one took me a little less than an hour to complete). Would love to see a sequel that carries on the storyline of the NPCs involved. chromium42

A nice little sitting with great cut scenes, and good usage of custom items.

Thanks gpeddino! In response to your comments: *** MAJOR SPOILERS *** The broomsticks multiply when they're broken. Use fire or acid to get rid of them for good. A blast or two from the Fire wardstone should do it. I may change the script so fewer sticks are spawned... Limit it to 8 or so. In the final cutscene, after placing the wardstones in the pillars, it should have shown the Master Wizard casting a spell on the Apprentice and putting him to sleep. If you talk to the Master Wizard after finishing the quest and collecting your reward, then he tells you a little bit about what he plans to do for the Apprentice. *** end spoilers *** Jason

What a great module! I specially liked the cutscenes: they were all very innovative and well scripted. --- spoilers --- Good job on the Golemizer. It was a great idea. But I have some thing that may be a bug, though: Firstly, I created the Iron Golem. He destroyed the boulders and all. Then I created the Broomsticks. Lots of broomsticks came up to fight me and my familiar. And I mean lots. About 20 or more, which made the game very laggy for some moments. Maybe you should check that out. Still, an awesome module. I had some trouble in the end when placing the wardstones in the pillar. I placed them wrong and because of that I had to fight the Apprentice for some moments (and some respawns). I thought it was a bug, but then I checked the colors and it all worked beautifully. The idea of the rebel apprentice is very well worked, but personally I think the ending scene in the forest should show what happened to him. Congrats on this, I'll keep an eye on your future work. ;)-------------------------------------- Author of "The Whisper Of Auril"
