Description
Whiling away the hours aboard the smuggling vessel, the Flying Teapot, the fiery downfall of Ullad City becomes a distant memory. Your passage to Vall has been enjoyable due to the generous attention of Captain Screech - a contrast to the gloomy Ulladic refugees who wander the decks like hopeless ghosts... A sudden cry interrupts your game of dice. The watch spies a dark red sail on the horizon. It flies the colors of Rose the Bandit Queen and she is gaining on the Teapot! You realize this peaceful journey has softened you as you've left your weapons in your cabin. You rush belowdecks just as the Teapot steers into a strange, white mist that clings to the sea, hoping to lose the faster ship of Rose...
Great fun. I like it. Lots of unique nice touches. I've finished the lower ward, now if only I could find Captain Ferm to get a Salt Mine Pass.

Decent little adventure, actually seemed to end too quickly compared to the first one. Couple of problems sort of ruined it for me...
First, getting off the initial island... Levantica got herself killed by Thorn, which is (as far as I can tell) a complete show stopper. Would have made sense to keep her out of the fight entirely or make her immortal at that stage of the mod; or at the very least, throw up a "Game Over" message.
Not sure what the big deal was with Olo... dude talked some smack but my ranger had him dead before I ever even considered running away. Way too weak in relation to the other baddies in the game, especially the goofy looking guys in the previous level. Was kind of anti-climactic.

A great improvement from the first one. I had fun playing this module but combats are still unbalanced. Didn't notice any bugs. The story is interesting. Completing quests for the sphinx at the beginning, to secure my transportation, was a neat idea. Didn't bother me that I had to leave all my stuff behind, it made the adventure even more interesting. Too bad this module didn't get more attention.

A much better Mod than the first one of this series, which was nearly unplayable, being dreadfully balanced. But this sequel is actually a very good module, with some nice ideas, difficult fights and interesting story. More roleplaying options would be welcome but it is well worth downloading as it is well done.

definitely worth playing, an interesting mod. The plot and setup is excellent, it plays really well off of the first one. But, as with the first, the difficulty balancing is off. In the first, it was WAY to hard, but here my character seemed overpowered for the quests. Cool set of mods, regardless.

****SPOILERS*****
Levantica may or may not appear at the end in one of the small, locked chambers in back. In your case she probably was defeated by the demon left to torment her. Tried to make the demon weaker but in some cases I think she fails to survive. If you try the end again she'll probably survive. The other possibility is Talon may have reached her first if you were in another room at the time. If you're weak enough in that part of the game then you have to unlock and then lock doors to survive - but I'm sure you figured that one out.
So, yuma_bill, I see you made it through this one as well... once again, thank you and my apologies for the flaws. Codes kept shifting by the time I was finishing this mod and it made it quite difficult to update - excuses, excuses...
****SPOILERS****
I'm afraid I'm not certain about why Pragmalis wouldn't speak again. It's been some time but maybe there's a quest you need to complete such as entering the salt beetle's lair and getting both items she's mentioned. Otherwise she may not respond. Sorry.
My memory is foggy on most of this but as your character is a thief so if you talk to the grubby salesman in the last hut he mentions that he sees guards and such coming and going and he thinks there's a hidden door in the cliff face. Your thief should search along that cliff face and will be able to locate the hidden door to the upper ward as it's set pretty easy.
Also, if you decide to finish the game with the evil choice you end up in a version of the upper ward as well.
Hope this helps and thanks again for taking the time to post your thoughtful comments. Much appreciated!

****SPOILERS*****
Excellent work, my friend. I like how the story picks right up from number one and throws you into a difficult situation. Personally, I liked being stripped of my items, as I felt rather too god-like towards the end of the first one. In fact, I liked it so much I threw away all 420,000 of my gold, too, which made it much more exciting to find the treasures I found. I was running around in raggedy chain for ever so long :)
The dialogue and characters were quite entertaining. Cappy Billaby made me laff: "what's that smell? Oh, it's me." I also felt sorry for poor old Handil and little Olo. However, I get the feeling that I did the quests out of order. I defeated Talon yet I still don't have access to the Sky Ward. In fact, I'm going back and searching the city, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get up there, short of kiling that golem. (btw I like the Golem Doors, nice touch)
Combat difficulty was good, tho bit weird...it was good cuz I had to struggle all the way up to the end, and some fights I had to run away from and come back to later, or use divide and conquer, etc. It was weird because of the huge hordes of enemies...I liked smashing salt stalkers for the first few minutes but after awhile you just sit back and crack a beer and hit the heal button every once in awhile.
I had mixed feelings about the endless Cure Critical Wounds potions...it was nice not having to go buy any, but it made combat kind of odd, where I'd be sitting there pounding on a powerful baddie who would just stand there healing himself over and over. It seems that you could increase the baddies' hit points to make them more challenging, if that's an option.
The game setting was very thorough and immersive, what with the xenophobic islanders always treating you with an edge of hostility, and the low-lying sandstone houses and ruined temples everywhere. I also liked how the gameworld would shift a bit as you accomplished things, e.g: the gnome and his dog disappear, with only the rubble of the golem left behind.
There were a couple minor bugs that I'd like to point out, though they didn't interfere with the game much:
-The journal states that I killed Rose, the pirate queen, but it was Thorn, the half-orc female, that I killed in this episode, Rose died in chapter 1.
-Pragmalis Kunkton, the gnome female, spoke to me once and would never speak to me again. I don't know if that was on purpose or not.
Lastly, I wanted to ask how to find Levantica the Sphinx. Talon mentioned that she was fighting one of his minions, I never did find out where she was. If you can give me a hint on that and the means on getting into the upper ward where the council is, i would appreciate it, as I still want to explore all the mysteries of this desert island. :)

Possibly even better than Beggar's Rattle (or BRI - Fall of Ullad as the new version is called). A compelling story, great layout, challenging battles and a general believeable environment. Also, good dialogue with just the right amount of comedy mixed in. A Hall of Fame candidate, if only people knew about it...

So I think this is where strategic thinking comes in. Most everyone knows the Star Trek episode where Captain Kirk gets thrown on the rocky wasteland planet to fight the alien captain... Ok, ok, let me start again...
BIG THEMATIC SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!

Playing through Beggar's Rattle -1 eventually gives the nugget of philosophy behind what I am trying to do. I myself enjoy fighting - sometimes the headlong rush into battle but sometimes having to think strategically - but I don't like a never-ending field of hack and slash nor do I like sitting for hours trying to trip the right combination of a hundred switches or pat the right combination of hordes of invisible chickens for that matter to get through the game world. So please either delete the game or figure out how to handle the proverbial bear without fighting it only on it's own terms.

Ok. played about 5 mins of your module. big dislike for me, cant get off island without even a weapon. for a strait up fighter without improved unarmed. the grizzly kicked my butt without me realy even hurting it. i would suggest either changeing it so can keep a weapon or weakening the bear. (it went through my 124 hp's in about 6 seconds) i might play it again as monk to see what happens later although most likely it's just getting deleted wich would be a shame becouse the first 5-6 mins looked realy good. i just dont like being cornholed into leaveing everything behind. Mabee you could add another option for getting off the island.

Thanks, Jornandes, for taking the time to give me constructive input. I appreciate your critique and I've uploaded a new version that deals with some of the issues you mentioned. I hope other players of this mod will be as generous with their time and helpful in terms of comments as you have been.
