Description
The lazy Chauntean fishing villiage of Darrowmire has always been a peaceful and serene hamlet until now. During the night, cloaked figures stole The Heart of Chauntea, a powerful protective amulet that channeled and bolstered the faith of Chauntea's children in the 'Mire'. Now, standing defenceless and faithless, you are urged to help the sleeping Mire find Chauntea's Heart and those responsible for it's theft. Perhaps this is one occaison where you shouldn't let sleeping gods lie.

Barely average vintage module.
Just replayed this with a solid fighter/druid. Did not have any problem this time to complete the module (no bug). I only did the main quest this time. Yet, I did not find it very interesting. It was a bit like go fetch something over there with heavy and very repetitive H&S on the way (not Medium H&S). Roleplay was minimal (only spoke with three NPCs or so). Once the module is completed you still have no idea why this all mess came to be (e.g. why and how the temple was taken for example).
Note: One NPCs did my call my character Druid and another one Fighter.
I just downloaded and ran through this module and everything worked like charm.

Average module with huge maps (forest), combats with similar foes (e.g. spiders). Crypt quest broken. No real druid options (e.g. speaking to the white stag). Did not find the drud grove and/or the other sub-quests. Gave up after geting almost crushed by a (Talonite) high Priest.

Hey Guys. Sorry I abandoned this game series, I had actually bitten off more than I could chew, though series 2 is well underway and includes a full scale city of Tantras.

I don't think there will be a part 2. I emailed goatee and the email bounced. he has not posted in over a year. oh well, too bad. maybe someone else can coopt the series. he has a decent little plot going. _________________________ "normally, both your *sses would be dead as f*cking fried chicken, but you happen to pull this sh*t while I'm in a transitional period so I don't wanna kill you.." jules from pulp fiction

Is there still hope for the next 2 parts? I look forward to them.

Hey Chris.
Yes the portal out of the temple is one way only. The
recall stone was a nuisance, for what ever reason, I could
not get her to stop giving out stones even though the
variable was set correctly.
Part 2 of the series says goodbye to stones of recall.
These is another type of travel system incorporated.
Cheers!

great module- can't wait until the next one. possible bug
report though, recall stone didn't work and door to temple
in canyon only worked one way-out of temple. was it
supposed to work both ways?

Excellent effort. I haven't finished it yet but liked it
enough to feel compelled to let others know about this
little gem. I found the encounters well balanced and I
don't mind an item heavy mod as it is that - just a mod.
It's good to have gear that you can use when you need it.
We had a party of 3 Level 8 characters, a Cleric, a Wizard
and a Rogue. One hour later we were joined by a Fighter
which made it much easier for us. This mod should easily be
in the top 20.

OldManWinter: I forgot to mention, with regards to the XP,
it could do with adjusting somewhat I guess, though the
main rewards for xp come in the form of rewards for
completing the main plot.
Cheers!

Thanks WiseOldMan for the comments, I know exactly what
you mean with your comments and thought similar when I was
designing it.
TENTATIVE SPOILER ALERT BELOW
With regards to full arrays of magic items on villains
etc, I think it only makes sense. Especially for most
NPC's to drop something when killed that they would
normally have, even boring old clothing. Being a cult,
the Talonites were in my imagination well organised and
had produced weapons to further their gods will of Poison
and Disease, hence their items.
I left many areas less of a challenge because I wanted
people with lower levels to atleast have a run around and
see what was going on, and to return to HOC sometime with
a more powerful character if they wanted to defeat Anolat
and the defiled Temple of Chauntea.
As for the Heart Of Chauntea itself, I'm now going to have
to check it in the toolset to make sure it is where it is
supposed to be. I will email you and let you know if
there is a problem. Im hoping there isnt, but it is
located on level 2 of the temple of Chauntea, and it is
not well hidden. ;)
Thanks for the idea of a journal entry/vanith reward
perhaps for Anolats Journal. I think that is something I
overlooked, and would make sense to do in this mod. I
will add it and release the new version when I release all
3 parts as 1 Mod next year.
Thanks again for great feedback.

Matt:
I think you did a good job on your first mod. I'm not
quite finished with it yet, but I think I'm almost done
(maybe, possibly, hopefully...) I'll get to that in a
minute. Your dialogue was free of any modern day diction,
which is a huge plus in my book. You were creative in
making new and appropriate magic items(another big plus).
I also liked that the major npc villains tended to have a
full array of magic items to take off their recently dead
bodies! Most of the modules I've played I haven't seen
that. They seem somehow more complete when you do that. I
played on through with a half-orc ranger1/barb1/druid10,
and I felt sufficiently challenged.
SPOILERS here and there.
I didn't feel that challenged at all until the temple of
Chauntea. The groupings of Talona cultists were well put
together concerning their abilities and items. They tended
to make for a challenging fight. They also are the reason
I think your mod was a bit item heavy, BUT I could see it
being totally balanced for a group.
Now I'm not really sure how many levels you expect a solo
character(or a group for that matter) to gain. I was
getting 3 exp for the average Talona cultist, and not much
more for anything else except for quest completion and the
final villain. So I can't really tell you whether the
experience should be adjusted or not.
I'm kind of stuck at this point. I think I missed
something somewhere. I killed the final priestess, I
raided her room, found her journal, and it doesn't really
give me enough to figure out where the heart of Chauntea
is. So, I'm thinking I'm having a moment of utter density;
it's probably right in front of my face. I was hoping you
could find it in your heart to point me in the right
direction. I don't know if this will end up being relavent
or not, but a suggestion is to add another conversation for
Valith(I think that's her name) if you come back and show
her the journal.
I thought it was an all-around good job though. I can
imagine some great things coming from you the more mods you
build.

Hey Guys,
This is my first mod, so go easy on me. Work is already
underway on Part 2 of the Venom Queen Series "Talona's
Wrath" set mostly in city of Tantras.
Hope you like The Heart of Chauntea, and please, all forms
of constructive criticism is greatly accepted.
Cheers!
