Trouble is afoot (or at hand if you haven't any legs) in the sleepy medieval town of Woking. As a new recruit to Miss Marple's Bureau of Crimefighting you must find the foul murderer of Lord Clive Jukebox of Woking, a peer murdered with a badger! How does this relate to the former King of England? Can you save the country from Communarchy? Can you believe it's not butter? All will be revealed in The Odyssey of Communarchy!

Erm, Chapter 2 is currently being worked on. For numerous reasons it's taken a long time (namely getting a degree and a nearly complete version becoming corrupted).
Oh, and I'm not doing 7 chapters anymore. 4 at the most if I can be bothered.

Chapter 1 accomplished !! I greatly appreciate the mood at the start and the murder case to solve.
What a pity that it turns in a pretext for HEAVY HACK'N SLASH :x Too many opponents for too many fights more and more difficult !!
And there is too many XP in the rewards too ! I take more than 17000 XP having lowered the XP rate to 5% and refused some secondary missions :o
On the other hand, for so much leveling, there is too few treasure and specially magical devices.
I also encounter several bugs but as it seems that the author doesn't care anymore his work, I don't lose time to enumerate.
I give a "8" BUT WHERE ARE THE OTHER 6 CHAPTERS AND THE END OF THIS MURDER CASE !!! :x :x :x

this mod was ok and funny but the chase is confusing

Mr White, in the end I never did vote it down. Not because I do not think it warranted (I believe it is), but rather because it likely is a greater chance of changing the status quo by just commenting.
And yes, there is some app floating around claiming to be an ace file extractor; for one reason or another, I never seem to make it work, though. Could be it only works on old archive versions, only with a restricted set of archiving options, or perhaps there is more than one archinve format with the same name.
Ah well, there are plenty of other modules.

I'd say that's a little mean-spirited Janne. Why vote at all if you can't play due to non-module issues? Just how is that vote going to be helpful?
Anyway, I did a search on google for "unzip ace linux" and it seems to me that there ARE ace extractors out there for linux.

Seems like alot of people would save alot of time and fighting if they used Ultimatezip that knows how to unzip all zip formats that I know of, ace, rar, and zip and a few others. Noyt sure if it has linux support or not but I use it and never have a problem worrying about what format it is zipped in.

Well, playground fight or not, the fact remains that at this point the module is non-functional and unplayable for me. So yes, if 10-20% or so of download time is more important than allowing averybody in the community the opportunity to see what has been created, then so be it. I will be voting a "0" for non-functional, though.

Althopugh in the case of a 40mb hakpak, the difference can be 10mb in compression size. Which, to my mind, is certainly worth it. Perhaps the vault should be restructured to allow authors to host copies of modules in multilpe formats, to stop these playground fights?

I don't doubt that self-extracting .exe files and WinACE are both very good. I do not doubt that they have freeware unpackers.
None of which help me. I play under Linux, and those formats are not supported on my platform. I know we are a small minority, but I still feel it is a shame to exclude part of the community for the sake of a few hundred Kb.

Slovo, why should peole use winace when 99% of archived files are zipped using winzip? People who use other archivers are in the minority. Winzip is pretty-much industry-standard. I hate using cliches, but the old "vhs vs betamax" comparison springs to mind.

never mind.
Figured it out. the only way to get the Labyrinthe is to answer "thanks for the help" at the end of the conversation with the guy in the hostel.
Posted by Dash ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-09-17 18:57:00
A little help please. I have the tooth and the wood for Basil. Have talked to the guy in the hostel who says he will mark the Labyrinthe on my map, but when I leave town there is no option to go there. Have repeated talking to the characters about three times, but still no Labyrinthe to be found. Any help appreciated.

Thanks for the pointers! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'll try and get Chapter 2 done but don't hold your breath.

Finally, I finished chapter 1, and I want to add some more issues.
- I talked to the bartender at The Demented Mushroom Tavern and I could ask him about Lewis who I never heard of. Then new journal entry "Where is Lewis?" was added. This should not happen unless I heard of this Lewis guy.
- Woodcutter asked me to rescue his son, and I agreed to do so but I didn't get any journal entry for this quest. Then I found the son and he asked me how I found him, but there was only "end dialogue" option available. Thus I couldn't take him back home. I left him and went back to the woodcutter. He said nothing about his son any more. Then I returned to the son but he got killed by spiders re spawned. It's odd.
- Every time I spoke to Galdor, he responded just as first met, though I already got "Galdor's Wife" journal entry. Then I saw her killed by bandits before I even speak to her. There you may have a faction problem.
- You should update the journal for The Ye Olde Adventures Labyrinthe so that you can remind players what's required for each floor.
- Neither Anagram Man's Heart nor The Rod of Hermes were taken from the inventory when they were given to the people who requested. I don't want to carry these +blocked+.
- In the end of chapter 1, the game crushes because it requires chapter 2 mod.
I really enjoyed chapter 1, and am waiting for the updates and upcoming modules.
