The Third Eye Detective Agency has sent out a call for mercenaries. You know that the Detective Agency is a gathering of powerful heroes, trying to keep the realms safe and free. What tasks would such heroes need completed? Travel to Triilumina City, a city built in the belly of a giant sentient asteroid, the ArchEye. The city is home to strange and wonderful creatures of all shapes and sizes. There it is, an invitation to take the next shuttle out of here and be a guest of Sally Moonshine, in Triillumina City. The Third Eye Detective Agency is three adventures rolled into one. Help MorteM in the swamps, Maverixx on the elemental plane, and Mirage in the city shadows. Most encounters are scaled, so it's great adventure for beginners or advanced characters. Instant combat is available at the end of the module for continued fun for high level characters. Fight with or against the Third Eye Detective Agency.

Some fatal flaws, but an excellent module!

- the category field should be humorous/ parody.
- names. MorteM, Moonshine!, Dethbringer(replaced with Deathbringer in dream room)are braking the fourth wall too much
- Monsters drop almost exactly on you in far greater numbers than anything reasonable.
- tricks and traps are heavy!!! "Light" is not heavy mod creator guy! Your traps are sometimes in irrealistic place like chairs, stone etc. I think there was no taps on the floors although.
- 1 flying stool in the temple kitchen
- all conversations are repeatable. It seems that author cannot handle multiple convos for NPCs so if ur Pc have to speak with someone again, the entire area with him is copied, changed slightly with new NPC.
- White zombie got himself killed be4 I could even talk with him(issue with hostility against the water dude)
- PC properties are given upon death, which isn't rly a problem since respawn button does nothing(I died in a dream room so it would be reasonable for me to respawn?)
- Triilumina City isn't constructed and consists only of 1 area with generic NPCs

I have to agree with SilverDragonMage. IMHO this module is simply terrible.

1. Don't call it dungeon adventure if you want to make a parody.
2. No real conversations or journal entry. You know where you need to go but have no clue why.
3. Combat balance! Wait a minute, six dragons and two giants are you serious? Got the key let's get out quick wait, they are back already!

Interesting NPCs, but the dialog structure needs more work to avoid repeating the same conversations endlessly. My Fighter/Wizard leveled from high lvl13 to early 15 and easily completed the 3 missions by casting a Invisibility spell before entering the "entrance" portal. Mirage's mission had some intrigue to keep me interested, but the 2 others didn't offer much challenge.

This was a lot of fun to play. It's creative, different, has a good story line and I liked the humor!

A good linear module. Although I didn't see a grand city or a variety of weird creatures, I believe that somehow you managed to create a futuristic atmosphere.

I liked the main characters, especially the devourer. Eclipse gave me xp repeatedly upon choosing the same dialogue option. It was a bit tiresome that whenever I updated her for my progress the conversation between my char, Sally and Eclipse was exactly the same.

If I had to choose a quest it would have been Mirage's. It had a little bit of a mystery although the path you had to take was quite linear. At the end, whereas my journal said to speak to Mirage I wasn't given the chance.

The module was humorous but more in a rough kind of way. My char was a level 12 fighter and the battles were mostly easy except when dealing with the water elementals and the cleric mercenaries in Mirage's quest.

A fun way to spend an evening :)Pity, cause from what it shows there's not going to be a sequel.

Great concept, a little buggy because of age (had to use dm_setfactiondefender a couple of times to get the quests). A little over-difficult in parts for my wizard, but it wasn't something that couldn't be overcome eventually, just something that made my eye twitch for a bit. I needed to spend large amounts of money to get the high level scrolls I needed to win through a couple of areas.

Posted by Myria at 2006-03-08 17:42:18
I know this says "single player" mod, but was wondering if anyone tried it with multiplayers... or atleast multiplayer - single party?

Don't care much about loot and stuff.. just worried about non-friendly multiplayer scripting (ie: one guy teleports and the others are left stranded)

Thanks

A bit buggy but hilarious. Nice plot. Ahem but where is the sequel. I want to stop the Becoming darn it.

The concept is very entertaining. The execution leaves something to be desired. The plot railroads the PCs through a linear accumulation of elements story with very little in the way of choice available. The mysteries are not really mysteries so much as going to find an object or meet a person. There is a LOT of clutter in extra non-plot-related objects and characters that add nothing to the story or to the environment. Many doorways were left open. City areas included were far larger than needed to advance the story, but had no "atmosphere" details or things that PCs could do. It seemed to us like this was a module created to show off the author's own game creations without letting the new player(s) in on the in-group jokes. I would recommend this module as a curiosity for the concepts of the creative setting and characterization, but not for clean design, playability, action, or roleplaying.

Thanks for a great little module! There was enough humor and variety to keep me interested, enough combat challenge to keep me on my toes, enough decision-making to keep me from being bored (some modules might as well just be battle arenas that spawn opponent after opponent) yet enough guidance to keep me from getting lost.

I played this with my Bard, who advanced from level 21 to level 22 during the module. (My build is on the Bioware Epic Character Builders' Guild under the name "The Versatile Songmaster".) After completing the OC and several other modules he's very well-equipped and I never felt that I wouldn't be able to defeat any of the opponents (eventually). But I also died a few times when I wasn't careful enough to equip the right gear or heal myself in time.

A few problems/oddities/suggestions:

- Mirage didn't spawn at the end. I talked to Eclipse and she told me to go find him in a barrel. I looked in all three, destroyed all three, no luck. I suppose he's how I get to the Instant Combat at the end, because I never found it. I did the missions in what was probably backwards order of what you planned. I did the one for Mirage then the one for Maverixx then the one for MorteM. Maybe that had something to do with it?

- books from the OC were everywhere. This is all set on different planets/planes than the OC, right? Is everyone in the galaxy that concerned with Luskin? Yeah, I know, you wanted to put books on the bookcase and these were easy. Not a big deal, just struck me as odd.

- after winning the wedding party battle, the Florist and the Priest fought endlessly, so I couldn't finish the mission. Fortunately I had saved just before the fight so I reloaded and all went well.

- my character has high convesation skills (Persuade, Intimidate, etc.) and there were some perfect places particularly in Mirage's mission to use them, but I didn't get the option to even try.

Those few minor things aside, I had a great time. And hey, I'm a computer programmer and I'm typing this during a break from spending several hours looking for one silly bug in my code. So I have an idea how much work you put into this module and I really appreciate you sharing it!

I just wanted to compliment the writer on a kick -bleep- adventure! There was humor, a bit of intrigue and just enough hack and slash to make it worthwhile. I would aks the author to please consider making a sequel. Wonderfully done!

Hi MorteM!

Very promising module. Hope you will make a second part as I think there is a lot of potential in this one. You introduced quite a lot of characters that seem worthwhile to develop further. I like long conversations when they serve to get to know the main NPCs better as is the case in your nice little mod.
The jobs my sorcerer/red dragon disciple had to do for the agency were challenging enough, too. I enjoyed Mirage's job in particular. Some fine twists and turns without getting too artificial.
The only thing I found a bit annoying was that you could just start the same conversation over and over again, but no mod is perfect.

cheers

I am stuck towards the end of the module. I did all three quests and have the lunar stone, trollseye, and optic ring. Eclipse tells me to go see chicken bone and when I do, he just gives me a trolleye again. me no understand.
is there a debug setvar way to fix this, or can I not finish the mod?
