The Mod uses the Tir Na Og Tree Pack 1, Vers. 2.01 by Martin E.
Description
This is the beginning of a series of adventures that plunges the player in the World of Warhammer, a grim and dark world, full of mysteries, where only the strong and faithfull survives. 'Upon arriving in the small village of Kurtwallen, the player is to unfold a mystery, older than any of the villagers still living in this small village situated in the Reikwald Forest. Why are the wolves attacking the village? What is behind this scheme, and who plots against the villagers? Can the player solve this mystery, or will his name be forgotten, like tha name of many who passed through Kurtwallen and who were never seen again?' It is up to you to solve it...

Pretty Cool
I agree with the previous comments and review. I had to fix the hak to play the module to avoid seeing desks and what not in the trees. I also had to "teleport" at the end of the module to grab some stuff I had dropped on the way. The module was way too short and it was over before I knew it. Still the (storytelling) style was there.
Extra points:
+1 Unique Module
+1 Well balanced for a melee character (played a dwarf barbarian)

But it will take some time, so please be patient!!!!

Memories from a glamorous past WHFRP-Season of howling including SPOILERS!!!
First of all, thanks for doing this module. Second, thanks for doing a good WHFRP adaptation.
I trust it that all those chests, altars and armoires turning up in my forest are errors with the tree-stuff? Possible side-quest: Defeat the eco-terrorists and cleanse the druids grove!
You should make a note for newbies that *.erf has to be imported into the module, or simply do it in your downloadable version so the stuff is included.
Because it is not D&D you should give some hint about class/difficulty setting. There are plenty of magic items (ring of protection+1, amulet of natural ac+1) which are completely non-existent in WHFRP and make for a different odd when a lvl 1-2 charac fights (depending on difficulty even more).
Third, thanks for the names. Being german I have quite some smiles upon my face here.
Most of your scripts run pretty stable. Grats.
You did use the journal, missed it in Sisters of...WHFRP. Hey, a WHFRP without chaos? Not even a random encounter of a single chaos thug? ;)
The introductional talk builds some atmosphere in our "eternal errand boy" NWN, I liked it.
Am I just dumb or is there no hench(wo)man??? on second try I took a half-elf druid for it suited the story.
Sadly the module was very short, I wished for extended talk, minor side-plots or mini-quests along the way. Further, when I encountered the "master poodle" I was just switched to the end, pretty fast paced, yet more WHFRP should come. Sad there is no NWN clone based on that system and character classing.
Did I mention that I have to find a mind control device that makes you build "Shadows over Bögenhafen.mod" ??? Sorry, wished I had ambition in the real world. Can't do it on a german NWN and with my limited skill. I am better editing mods than doing my own. Grunt, the Vegetarian Sneak Preview.mod was already my best shot and I sincerely repaired/upgraded/stabilized more on other creators modules. ;(
If you don't know it, play "A song of ice and fire - the nights watch" It's not WHFRP, but really worth knowing.
Excerpt of me: "Did you know I emailed my files "Banish with Laughcraft" and "Catharsis" to Stephen King? I told him that in Germany I could expect more money by writing something unique and new like "The poodle of Turker Hills" or so. You may remember it, a small American town where a priest turns into a monster every full moon and"

A really nice MOD, unfortunately it is small, wished it was larger. Hope to see the second part soon.
Keep up the good job! ! !(loved the intro)

Well, all in all a well done Warhammer Module.
Here are some things that could be done to improve the Module:
1. The Shop has no Shields to offer, adding one or two would be nico IMO
2. If you choose the module in NWN itself, these is no discription for the Module, which would be handy.
3. Either you should reduce the damage reduction of the Werewolf down to 5, or note in the mod description that the module is for Fighter - Type Charakters only, because at level 2 the other Charakters usually do not do enough Damage to kill that thing.
The Atmosphere was good though, it made me wish that William King would hurry up with the next installment of Gotrek&Felix (-:

To the author:
I have just signed out your mod for review. I downloaded the archive just to have a quick preview, and noticed it was a rar file. I strongly recommend that you change it to a zip file. Your mod is only 2 MB, and going from rar to zip will make very little or no difference, even to the slowest connections.
I have no problem with rar compression, but newbies don't like it. If you tell a bunch of newbies to go download winrar, they will just assume move on to another mod rather than deal with downloading, and installing it. I can almost guarantee you will loose players simply because of the type of compression you're using. Sometimes it make sense to go to rar because it offers better compression. If you have a 100 MB HAK file to archive say, but in your case I would switch to zip.
I won't be doing the reivew for about 2 weeks or so, and I will re-download it when I play it, in case you make any revisions in the next 2 weeks or so.
Looking forward to doing the review. This sounds like an interesting experience. :)
sincerely,
Expresso.

The second part is in work, and will be called Blood Brothers, and continues the journey of our adventurer through the Chaos ridden Warhammer World.

A nice little MOD(finally a Warhammer one)which I enjoyed very much.
-the journal entry for the Cave Beetle needs to be fixed
-the intro is very nice(I enjoyed it very much)
-very nice build
-a interesting story
Hope we will see the next part of the story soon, and it is not a one thing MOD, for to much say "part of a series" and there are no follow ups.
Keep up the good work

A very nice MOd, with a few little bugs, but overall nice indeed.
The Mod is build with much love, the atmosphere is great and the Intro very cool indeed.
Hope to see your next project soon, keep up the good job!

I had fun doing this litttle mod, but I had to play a warrior type character, as it was tough with other types.
I have a suggestion to the mod maker. Make an interger on the miner if he gets killed. As I was running from the forest beasts when they cam up to him and killed him. Problem his at the end I was saying how kind he was and all, but I never knew the guy lol!
There is a blank entry journal error for the cave beettle.
Otherwise the story mood was good, good use of the hakpack, nice pickups( balanced to my tastes anyhow! )nice design overall. Some npc could be more colourful.
I have to admit that I loved the intro. We don't see one like that too often. Great idea.
Hope to see your next projects.
Keep up the good work.

Ditto. The hak pack you used doesn't seem to be the hak pack you linked to. I couldn't even open it up in the toolset.
Posted by ZeornWarlock ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-07-12 14:45:00
Please try to include the hak and mod together in a rar/zip.
As the linked hak does not work for me.

OK, here we go again!
I have taken your advices seriously and changed and fixed the mentioned points. The new MOD is uploaded, and I think that it will be available with the next Vault upload.
Thanx again,
Silas

Well, I´ll try to explain my faults !
Thank you for your honest comments, I have read them full of interest. What should I say, usually I am just a humble builder who is trying to "shape" the Warhammer world as good as possible. This MOD was my first try, so I will surely learn from the mistakes I made.
You surely are right with your points, and I will rework the points you mentioned.
Nevertheless I hope it was a bit of fun for you, and I could at least give you the typical "Warhammer" feeling.
I´ll change the points mentioned and upload the new MOD as soon as possible.
Yours Silas!

You do have a nice warhammerish feel, but when it comes to gameplay, I must be missing something.
** SPOILERS **
* The beast in the silver mine is "Overwhelming", especially for a second level character with no magic. That thing has 10 points of damage reduction!
* Is there a trick to the noises in the barn at night? I've been in there half a dozen times at different hours, searched the place, gone into the stalls - I don't find anything more than the villagers. When I *left* the barn after dusk, I (and the village dog) were attacked by a "werewolf", but killing it didn't produce any effect.
* There's an area transition where the stream flows into the woods next to Hugo, but it isn't linked to anything.
* The journal for the wolves in the forest is broken; only after I talk to the village elder (having finished my work) does it say "you should talk to the elder", and it never goes into a finished state.
* Another broken journal: there is no "Q_WOLF1"
Cleanup:
* Your cave beetles are fine, except they leave behind fire beetle bellies (and have fire beetle descriptions)
* I "forget" Hanna's name every third time I speak with her and have to go through the introduction text again. The scripting for this is trivial; somebody uploaded a pair about two months ago that takes 0 customization.
* Everybody tells me "Gustav should give you a good price for pelts", but he only pays 1 gold. Is that intended?
* Lots of houses with completely empty upstairs. Why make me explore them? Lock the stairwell door, make it plot, and give me a message like "these poor peasants probably don't have anything worth your time upstairs" when I try to force it.
I'm glad I made a melee-focused character for this one, because the "easy" fights would have been tough for any other class to solo.
