Your Mother - Gone. Your Sister - Missing. Your Brother - Dead. Your Father - Distraught. You - The Champion. You have stepped through the portal not knowing your fate on the other side. To your surprise you have landed in the Ander mountains and without a clue in the world, your desperate hunt begins. The capital city is sure to have some answers, but getting there may be trickier than first thought. Brave the haunted Ander Forest, or humble thyself before the mercy of the guilds. That is for the champion to decide in their Journey to the Capital.
NOTE: There is a Prelude module that needs to be played before this one. I have assumed that the prelude was completed and you know the story up until the beginning of ch. 1. The prelude can be found here.
Well I checked this for the first time in a while. Sorry if there are game breaking bugs and what not. I have not updated the file in many years. Also, sorry there was never an end to the story. I got about 25% through chapter 2 and then life happened. I never got into NWN2 or back into NWN1 but I am very excited for Dragon Age. I am pumped to start a new series and to utilize the exp I received from doing these modules. Once I play through the OC, I'll look forward to starting my mod. Stay Tuned!

Well, I just fished playing part2 (Chapter 1) and I have mixed feelings. Even though I had fun playing, I didn't like having to abandon my henchman at the end. I know that there were 2 endings to choose from, but choice#1 just seemed like the lesser of two evils.
Another pet peeve that made me take points off was the alignment shift thing again. After opening some chest or container, my Paladin lost so many points at once before I knew it -- he was no longer able to level up as a Paladin! (I had to multi-class to Fighter.) I didn't realize it at the time or I wouldn't have saved. Oh well, I managed to get by but it felt wrong.
Finally, I must admit that I felt a little more lost in Chapter 1 than the Prelude. If you hadn't included some detailed instructions in your ReadMe, I would have been stuck several times. I'm sure other folks played straight through and didn't feel this way at all, just my 2gp's worth.
These may sound like petty things, but they really detracted from the overall enjoyment of the mod for me. I'm *still* looking forward to the next Chapter though! Thanks for all your hard work Joe!

Interesting to see what could have been, but the deleveler after getting the elf henchy ruined the fun for me.
Locked doors cauesed me to be stuck and there was a faction bug that made everyone hostile.
Outdated scripting perhaps. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

Worth a try.
Original story in a unique world/region. This module may not fit every character of game style. The story is in fact pretty restrictive, as a result the module does not provide something that would fit the motivations of a given adventurer instead your character is forced to fit the story: You must travel from A to B, it is a matter of life or death.
IIRC, Joe Nicolosi did not give us a clue when it comes to character creation. I think a fighter, paladin or blackguard could work here. I once completed the two modules with a fighter/WM. This time, I played a bard/sorcerer (started lvl 4 and finished lvl 7). Note that any "smooth talker" will have plenty of opportunities in conversation something rarely seen used to that extent in other modules. The author provided two ending but I did not try the alternate one.
The key weakness of this module IMHO is that it is part of an unfinished story (and that the prelude if you choose to play it may require a strong suspension of disbelief to work). Combats at time will be tedious, repetitive and/or boring. A character who can sneak or one who like to slaughter all the enemies will fare better here.
And the score is:
Visuals: 8
Sounds: 5
Gameplay: 5
Documentation: 8
Roleplay: 6
Action: 5 ( A character who cannot fight well or persuade NPCs may have a hard time)
Replayability: 6
Fun: 5

Another series that will stay unfinished. Oh, well :p. An enjoyable module, the dialogs needed more work, the story was ok, the whole receiving and losing xp system felt a little unnecessary cause the right answers were obvious and the skill check often failed so I stayed clear of it :p. I really liked the movies, worth the download.

Similiar in tone to the first module, this little game is a nice change of pace (especially if you just finished a very long module with lots of side quests), although it leaves many questions from the prelude unanswered. I do think that the story has a lot of promise, but sadly it does not seem likely we will see part 2.
Much like in the first game, the dialogue could certainly use more polish, but I did not find it to be god-awful either. The movies are wonderful, and I felt like I had taken part in a fun story, whether part 2 ever comes or not. The skill checks in the game can be a bit tricky--like in the prelude, it seems that some checks are impossible no matter how high your Persuade score is. My tip would be to only take dialogue options that the NPC you are talking with will find plausible. I am not find of the fact that it is possible to so casually lose XP, but I never lost that much, and I undoubtedly gained more than I lost.

Fantastic module Joe but a big problem has emerged.
After entering Reptilia I face the Reptilian Commander. This guy is always red, starts talking to me after paralizing me for some seconds but before I can choose any of the 3 answers he starts attacking me.
By using talk and pause I have managed to continue the dialogue and to be teleported to the King's throne room but everyone there is red and I am being chooped down in seconds.
By the way the Reptilian Commander is totally invincible.Nor my +1 katana or my +2 handaxe or my +1 fists can damage him.
Is this normal or is related to my previous problems?

Seem to have a prob with voting. Anyway enjoyed both mods. Played them a long time ago so decided on a good character this time.
Only possible problem. If you do not get to Hedia (mage in forest) immediately. She will end up being killed by a winter wolf and that will end the game.

Hello Joe!
Long time no see! I'm back! Still haven't completed the mod though ... sorry. But to make it up to you, I'm going to give you my vote anyway! I'll give you a perfect 10 since it truly is a very good mod.
I will definetly play through your mod when I get the time, my latest savegame vanished when I formatted my hard drive. I thought I had made I backup, but I hadn't.
Anyway, a great mod which will eventually be completed by me! Really, good work Joe. Take care and see you around!

Hey, wanted to say GREAT mod's so far, looking forward to the second. I'm somewhat stuck in a spot however,
*******SPOILERS*********
I've finished the majority of the quests, all I need to do now is find the guy with the Orb...unfortunately I have to gain the reptile leaders trust before he'll tell me where I can find the guy. How do I get his trust? I've talked to virtually every person in most every area of the game and none have any conversation options in that regard. I figured the trainer would be the guy to talk to in order to train the reptile army and gain the chief's trust, but he just repeats what he said about the crypt. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated. KILLER mod all 'round though!!

Hello!
Congrats! This is one of the best mods I played so far! Really enjoyed it, it had a good balance of roleplayin and battle. I played it with an elven paladin character and thanks to the conversations I managed to play a paladin who is not so typical, who is stubborn to the core but has a good heart, who talks with her actions. I was glad to see that my alignment did not change because I wasn't talking nice all the time (too many people mistake kindness with real goodness, it's not the same).
The only thing which bothered me was losing XP for doing something wrong. I question the logic of this, because people usually learn from their mistakes (ok, there are some people who don't, but why would they become less experianced?)I don't say that my character should gain XP for doing something wrong, however.
Finally, thank you for making this great mod, I hope the next chapter will be finished soon, so I can continue this fantastic adventure!

Need help:
I am at the stage where I am looking for the cave with the reptilians in it (I got some guild pin from the dean of the warrior's guild and am looking for the guild warriors). I thought the reptilian cave was the "Strange Cave" to the west of Tula, but I don't have a key to the first door inside it. Am I looking in the wrong cave?
I found two spelling mistakes in your introduction to Journey:
"baffels" should be "baffles"
"seeing this mages power" should be "mage's"

Joe Nicolosi:
I just finish playing both mods, the movies are excellent, the mods are very good too, but way too short, specially the first one, just when you think the story is about to unfold the mod ends.

Thank you for this very good mod. Nice story, well balanced fights, very small hak pack ;-) By the way a lot of fun (9.5 vote).
Ready for chapter 2.

Wonderful! Modules are SO much better when the story is engaging. You have crafted a wonderful back story for my female cleric, and it's been fun having her act human. I mean, sometimes she gets a little testy with people, and moves towards 'chaotic'... but don't we all?
One point, and due probably to my background as an educator, is that there are still some spelling mistakes here and there. These jump out at me since I'm correcting students all the time... but I'd be happy to review this aspect for you if you wanted!
Really looking forward to playing the next module.

Excellent, really excellent module! I found myself up until 1am thinking "just one more quest"... LOL.. A great story, which for me is what really counts. The NPC, while not overly chatty, seemed like he really "belonged" too, and was well done. Battles were very well balanced. Final note: I added CEP to it, before I began, as I wanted to use a character with CEP head and custom clothes. Didn't notice any problems because of it.
I can hardly wait for the next chapter, keep up the good work! I am also curious, marking this series as "single player only" - do you think it would actually "break" in MP? or do you say this for plot/story reasons? Because story wise, I could easily "make this work" with a couple of friends, and sharing is SOOO much fun ;)
