Alignments
The Lady Aribeth is in danger, so you must be of an alignment that would want to rescue her. However, no penalties are given for not roleplaying correctly, so any alignment will be O.K. for the preview.
Description
This is a preview, or rather, a very small secton of a module that I am now working on called 'Aribeth's Fate.' In this section, you discover that Aribeth is in some kind of danger. Your mission is to rescue her. You will learn more as the module preview plays out. Basically, this area will test your problem solving skills. You will need to figure out the best way deal with this situation.

Even though it was a VERY small preview, as you said. I became enveloped by the mod's content. I truly hope you are able to bring the complete module soon!!
I also wanted to thank you, for taking the time to create something "refreshing" and that continues with the "Aribeth" tale and the relationship between her and the PC. Keep up the good work, Barlog!! _________________________ If I had a choice between Chaos and Destruction, I would have to choose Chaos followed by Destrustion!! (Bad Paladin!Sorry Torm...Can't help Myself!) =P

Hi Barlog,
As I said to Barlog the Great the beginning was fun! The only thing I really regret is that the game finished before I got the chance to teach your avatar some manners. I mean no offence to you |o|. It's just that my paladin's favorite pastime is teaching demons/devils some manners.
**MASSIVE SPOLERS**
Now I would like to report two "bugs":
1) I've actually managed to TAUNT the guard into attacking and even hitting me first. Nevertheless every time I was saying that it was self-defence, the game was interpreting it as a LIE. What is even worse my only option was to tell Aribeth that I could not make him start the fight and that I killed "an innocent man"?!
2) If the above is not bad enough I found an even worse "bug". Once we teamed up with Aribeth I looked into her inventory and removed her dress (now, don't you dare think anything - I just wanted to put on her the armour that was nowhere to be found by the way). It turned out that she actually had lingerie below the dress even though she told me she didn't have anything under it. She is a paladin with warm feelings for my hero so I don't think she would lie. Don't tell me that the NWN engine is not good enough for this. Just check the most downloaded NWN module ever and you will see what I am talking about :-).
**SPOILERS END**
Now, seriously, I like the preview and your website too. I think that a module about Aribeth's fate is long overdue and I'm definitely looking forward to it.
Good luck,
Elja

The main module does take place a few days before HotU happens. Something happens to Aribeth - and the PC - so that they will be gone before then. You'll just have to wait and see.
Robert,
This preview was taken from my larger module. The conversations that you speak of have nothing to do with this preview. I will edit them out and upload the game again.
As for the ring, also not needed here, but will come up in the main module. Other's have mentioned that before as well. I rechecked the tool set and the scripts look o.k. Will have to test that conversation before I release the main module and see if I can fix it. Thanks for pointing it out.
I was hoping to have it done by now - really I was. But I've just been too busy as of late. When my workload quiets down some - I'll make an attempt to finish it. (I really don't have that much left.)
Archie,
Thanks. You rock too!

It seems odd that ARibeth goes to Waterdeep, and within the same year the attack from the underdark happens.
But all in all I liked the preveiw, can't wait for the real thing to come out!

Thanks everyone for your comments, now here is my response. :)
ChaironDeCeleste:
When I designed this section, I only added the dungeon because it gave me the opportunity to include some of the torture equipment from the CEP. I have received letters from people who did just as you suggessted - with the rats and so forth. It was an option that I never considered but works very well - very creative.
Viconiaslover:
Thanks for the comments. I'm glad you liked the preview. I left you a message on the Aribeth Fansite as well.
Damos:
One would think that the law enforcement people would get more involved in a stitution like this - but let's just say that someone very powerful and influential does not want Aribeth to live.
It's hard to judge from what seems a very sketchy preview, but here are my observations: Decent dialogue, quite natural and even amusing. I assume there's gonna be a "Good" method to finish this little quest; in that case there should be strong opportunities for roleplay. If there's not one, there should be. And I love any module that features Aribeth, though you're gonna have stiff competition doing the redemption story considering Poecile's module.
I do have one large criticism however. The plot of this preview section has some holes. What kind of a law official refuses to act until a crime is committed? The idea of any kind of police is firstly to prevent crime. It's not like some random beggar is informing the receptionist of the intended rape either, it's the Hero of Neverwinter, she should at least trust the player's word enough to question the guard who openly admits to planning to rape Aribeth.

*Hint* You are in a PvP area. Barlog, this is great!

It is a bit odd that the pc runs out of
(dialog) options after provoking the
guard with insults.
It might be great if the hero could
lure this brute into the rat infested
torture chambers by showing him some
loot: "Hey, take a look at those enourmous
diamonds [...]" or
if the hero just lures a bunch of rats
to the cells area and watches the untimely
death of a potential rapist (both options
should cause an alignement shifting towards
chaotic).
