Infinite (doesn't link to Chapter 1E at this point)
Number Players
Obviously with more people the less challenging it gets. Ideally I was thinking a party of 3 level 20's, but the game should be playable single player, and enjoyable for larger parties as well.
Language
English
Level Range
Encounters balanced for 20-25 in most areas.
Races
All the default subraces in Shayan's Subrace Engine + "Brownie" and "Kobold"
Necronia is really only appropriate for Evil or Neutral alignments.
Gameplay Hours
60+
Description
Standard
--------
This is the first chapter in an epic retelling of the Original Campaign. There's a number of backstories when you begin, and the recommended one gives you 19 levels to start. It's well suited to Server Vault RP games. DMFI has been implemented, as well as a subrace system with 37 subraces available.
Single Player
-------------
The single player version (ChapterOneEnhanced-Single.rar) has only one backstory, and a number of multiplayer areas have been removed. Resting restrictions have been reverted to default.
I would love to rate this, but it never got past the loading screen.

I actually was working on a "Enhanced" Prelude, 1E, 2, and 3 for a while. I pretty much finished up Prelude and 1E, but 2 and 3 still need a lot of work. I'm actually pretty busy with "Jason's PnP", a completely original module I'm currently constructing. If anyone's interested in any of the other OC Enhancement modules I can e-mail them.

All be warned Shaolu is a grammar nazi who likes to molest little boys...
I have a problem playing your mod with a multi-classed character. My favorite character is a Paladin/Ranger/Wizzard level 9 in each. When I started your mod I lost 2 levels in Paladin and Ranger classes and lost 3 levels in my wizzard class. Perhaps you should post a Read Me file that would state for a player to use a single class character of level 20 when playing your mod so that they don't play with multi-classed characters that might lose levels upon starting. Thanks for your attention in this matter.

If you run the module as a DM, you can spawn the "List of Playable Subraces" book that documents all the available subraces, including my seven additions to the engine's defaults. Necronia isn't restricted to "Evil" players, and its story is a little complex. For single player, Necronia is pretty much unplayable.
I think what I'll do is just remove Necronia, the other backstories, and the resting restrictions. Then I'll change the starting location to the Senior Barracks, and make a few script changes. I'll upload this as the "Single Player" version, and hopefully everyone will have less issues.
The idea here is very nice, but this module *really* needs documentation. From the races (I had to download Shayan's Engine just to find out what races are permitted!) to alignment (so what's Necronia, and is it a critical part of the module?) to backstory (apparently, "recommended" means "required"), the module can't even be *started* without additional information.
The rest system is pretty close to unplayable. At 20th level, about the only classes that *don't* need rest are straight fighters and rogues: everyone else has spells or abilities that need to be refreshed, and even they are likely to have magic items that do. Besides, which is more unrealistic: catching a quick nap in a dangerous area, or going without sleep for a few weeks at a stretch?

There's a reason the first option is "Recommended". All the other options are primarily for multiplayer :-P. The mercenary backstory is a subset of the commoner backstory, which means NPC's will generally ignore you. To get out of the city core at all, you need a guard to hire you. Otherwise you're under quarantine. So, for single player, just starting out, you should definitely pick the first backstory.
I picked the mercenary beginnning and the module was broken in the first minute of playing!! I get told (boy friend?)to talk to Aribeth, she says she is too busy. End of game. It seems to be an interesting idea to update the OC but it is a huge task which is likely not worthwhile as Bioware will have something to say if you get too much attention. Anyways, regards.

The listing has been updated with the latest version of the module. The Meldanen bug is fixed in this release, in addition to a number of other fixes.

The Meldanen bug is a known issue that's resolved in the current revision. I'll have to upload some time. In the mean time, the only real way to get around it is with the help of another player. You can either have a DM jump you out, or use the Stone of Recall to jump to a party leader outside the door. As far as single player goes, there's not much you can do, sorry. I designed the module with multiplayer in mind, so sometimes these little issues don't get noticed, or when they do they seem more trivial than other concerns.

Great Mod I am enjoying the Hack & slash. However I have hit a snag. I am stuck in Meldanen's room having freed the dryad. Neither of the doors to external rooms will open. I* am holding Medanen's master key and his west wing key. Help
Thanks. I thought it might be just a restriction on resting but the emote dialog made me wonder if it were something serious. An interesting idea for a mod. I'll check it out.

Sorry, I probably should include some documentation on this stuff... As far as resting goes, you can only rest in certain areas. Currently, that's either the Senior Barracks starting area, the Trade of Blades Inn level 2 (if you don't mind buying a key), or the Refugee Shelter (if you can stand the smell ;-)). The idea is you're only able to rest in a quiet indoor area with cots, beds, etc. You're not truly sleeping (as the timescale is real-time), but you still need such a restful environment to recooperate and meditate.
I figured it didn't make much sense to be able to just flop down in the middle of the street and suddenly become fully revitalized. If you're not a mage, you really don't need to rest either. In addition to all the medical kits, healing potions, etc., you can talk to the clerics outside the temple in the City Core, or Aribeth herself, to get fully healed immediately.
Hopefully the added challenge of a somewhat more realistic envioronment should be more immersive and interesting :-)
