Description
It is the year 1369DR. Not too long ago most of the evil city of Zhentil Keep has been destroyed by the evil god Cyric. Weakened by these events the Zhents are desperately seeking for a weapon against their mortal enemy: Hillsfar. You are asked by a local temple of Lathander to seek out clues on a monster terrorizing the area. In your search, you meet a young girl. Both the Red Plumes from Hillsfar and the Zhentarim seem very interested in her. In your attempt to uncover the mysterious past of the child, you will travel to the city of Zhentil Keep, its ruins and its underground dungeons. Your character will be set at appropriate level at the beginning of the module and will be given equipment. There are a few sub quests for those who explore. There are three henchmen, and you can have two of them with you at any time. You can resurrect them if they die although there is no respawning for player characters.
First, I am not sure we Maximus is asking us to vote for these "old" module, is there a bug in the system? At least this one can be played not like that Bardsong where I get a cryptic error message right at the start. Anyway, I played a bit of this one and I might not finish it (or perhaps I could try it with a Shape Shifter?). What's Good: + Nice Intro Movie + Polished Settings + Visuals (look and feel) + The story seems interesting What's Bad - You will be naked once or twice (not good for real char started from level 1) - You will get 30000 Gold pieces to buy equipment (better put some generic items in a chest) - You will get free XP too to reach mid level 9 (no thanks) - The smith is lost so you cannot really buy a thing (bad if you are naked) - The prison part is not good, challenging but not realistic (can't even take a sword from dead soldiers) - After the prison part the hostiles started to kill all the civilians in town (funny since my character is evil) - If you must visit the library bring a char that can read (no low INT or Barbarian) - Found an old Barbarian bug back: If you are low on HP and cannot rest before rage wear off you're dead - Where is the inn with our elf friend?

I played this module as a follow up to "Cormyrean Nights" with the same character. There were only a few things I didn't really like. The lighting in the Temple of Lathander seemed strange. An orange or yellowish glow would seem more appropriate, but that's a minor thing. And while it's not really a complaint, I was upset when it was done since I wanted to keep playing. I might have enjoyed the module being a bit longer, but I usually gripe about that. I found my 'dumb fighter' using violence in maybe more places than I should. I had trouble getting through the prison and the mage tower, since it didn't seem like I could have avoided my enemies. As such I missed both the imprisoned and the mage ally. I did really like Amelia though, so much so that I exported her using Leto to use as a companion the next time this character goes adventuring. All in all a generally enjoyed adventure, and one that made me download the other modules of yours to try out. Kudos.

great mod. Played it a long time ago and never voted, so I'm taking the time now. Super fun well done mod.

A strong and engaging module, certainly worth checking out. Players should note that gear is stripped at the beginning of the module, so if you don't like that, don't play it with a character who has cool stuff. The mod itself is relatively linear, but the story is well done and design is generally good. I ran into a couple of bugs/inconsistencies which hurt the mod's immersion factor, but I really enjoyed playing it overall. The prison escape scenario was particularly fun and well designed! Certainly some challenging fights in here.

A very clever mod with a relatively intricate plot and some challenging battles. Definitely more for skilled NWN players than novices. Zhentil Keep is well designed and the atmosphere is quite good. Stripping the PC's equipment at the outset really isn't a good idea, though-- if someone wants to play with uber-equipment, why not let them? I prefer not to play with monty haul equipment, but I do like hanging on to the unique items I've picked up in past mods. I just ended up inventing a new character and importing him. Nevertheless, this is a very strong mod that should be ranked much higher than it is.

Excellent mod-- I didn't mind being stripped at the start, but some people might.

Larathiel, sorry if I was a bit harsh. It's just that such issues are not made intentionally. If you had mailed them to me, I would have fixed them without everyone needing to think I was trying to cheat them of their time :) Yuma Bill, I found out that I really don't like making single player modules any more. The keeping track of variables in conversation is just head aching for me. My focus on NWN has shifted to build stuff I can DM on NWConnections. So I don't really support my mods any more indeed. If I learn of something major and game breaking, I will fix it. But I will no longer really care that much about small things. I have found out that I have much more strenght in making things in which you don't have to think of every little option and so - because you can improvise as a DM :)
