Four pre-generated characters are provided with the module: the Risen Lord (undead fighter), the Vampire Lord (undead assassin), the Shadow Lord (undead sorcerer) and the Mummy Lord (undead cleric). The module must be played with these characters.

Description
You are dust. A grain of sand drifting in nothingness. You do not have a purpose and none could infer your awareness. But yet, you are about to be summoned by the Maker...
***
In this module you play the role of a summoned undead lord. A breach has just been opened in the space-time continuum. The Maker, ruler of the Undead Nation, has used the power generated by a thousand souls to summon you. Your task: take control over the Continuum.

Refreshingly good module
- some typos: "mommies"(should be "mummies") - random conversation with undead about breach; "being" should be "behind" - cleric conversation; "mush" - seer
- boots of speed would be nice at this level...
- cutscene with bluffing priest into going through the breach, does not finish itself. _________________________ Thanks Rolo:)

This game was hauntingly beautiful for what it was; an evil played module. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.
I might have had a problem similar to yours, Inquizitor. For the first time I had installed only CEPv2 and en error occured when I tried to start this module. I downloaded and istalled CEPv1 and patched it to 1.68 compatible version then and the module is "executable" now. :)
P.S. I haven't actually played the module for now, because I am currently playing another module, so I am not 100% certain that the game would not crash later. _________________________ Life's good. ;)
I am having difficulty running this module. I have the CEP and such but it keeps telling me I'm missing a hak file.

Very interesting story. Liked the prefab characters. I just finished with the Vampire Lord. Its an interesting twist from the general "hero" stories. Very creative.

Although this a hack-n-slash module with a very thin story, the originality, innovation, and just plain cool stuff packed inside puts it a cut above. Obviously, the custom characters stand out first and foremost, and second would probably be the capture and use of souls in lieu of experience or treasure. I played the risen lord, and I really enjoyed scooping up the souls of my enemies and using them to improve my weapon and armor, heal myself and my followers, and summon undead minions to fight by my side. I liked the huge variety, unpredictablity, and creativity put into these henchmen: instead of just giving you hordes of standard skeletons and zombies and such, you get cool followers like death knights, ghoul necromancers, bone golems, and undead shapeshifters. On the other side, the wide variety of angelic and demonic adversaries were also interesting and unusual. Other good things included the custom feats, the teleportation system, the challenging combats which required strategic thinking, the premise, and the design of the realm of the dead.
It's good that the module has all this cool stuff, because the actual gameplay mostly amounts to getting into a lot of fights while meandering around. Non-linear isn't bad, but there isn't much of a story here. Also, there are a lot of repetitious spawns that are frustrating early on, and just, well, repetitious later on. Also, as others have mentioned, the dialogue is full of grammatical errors that really broke my immersion in the game. What's more, the rather casual, modern dialogue style also felt very out of place, though ymmv. I ran into a bug in an early cutscene that crashed the game, and later on, the excessive amount of activity gave my machine some problems. Even aside from that, in some scenes there's so much going on that it becomes difficult to figure out what's going on (made worse by the fact that some of the corpses stick around). Finally, I thought the music in the final cutscene was very out of place.
Overall, although the game had some flaws, the interesting and innovative content made it worth playing. I'll probably play it again in the future, just so I can try out some of the other characters.

Seems interesting but I ran into some bugged cutscenes.

Very well done, although I was annoyed by the respawn in the first hour or so.

A short but fun module. It's mainly hack and slash, but it's original hack and slash. Thanks to the new feats and abilities and the resource system (now I finally understand why demons always want to buy your soul!) Neverwinter Nights combat became fresh and engaging once more.
The module also has very good atmosphere, with the undead hanging about in their world, the humans running when a ghost appears, and the demons and angels struggling en masse over the mortal world.
Downsides? The biggest disappointment for me was that too little was done with all the cool concepts and all the new abilities. The story resolution was simple, there were no real sidequests, there was all in all little to do in the module.
I'll also agree with Stravinsky's review that spelling and grammar mistakes reduced the immersion quite a bit. A pity.
Still, this module comes highly recommended for anyone who's in the mood for some hack and slash but doesn't want to kill the same old monsters with the same old characters.

Hi,
I am very, very curious: how can I create a PC that is actually a non-PC race as you have done? (i.e. - they're not just humans with 'undead' typed in the subrace box, they're not even referred to as one of the PC races in dialog where NPCs are meant to detect it) If there's a way to do this, I have to know! :) I want to create a mod with real goblinoid characters to play, not just halflings or gnomes with 'goblin' typed in the sub-race box and a goblin appearance. Thanks

I'm going to refrain from voting at this point...
I'm using the linux client - is that possible here? I was able to decompress everything. I placed the .mod into /modules, the .bic files into /localvault, the .tlk into /tlk, and the .hak into /hak.
It's telling me "[Sun Oct 23 20:22:25] Loading Module: The Breach
Could not open file because it was created using a newer version of the toolset and/or game resources."
I have CEP 1.52 installed. What's going on?

Sorry for the delay. My computer broke recently and Im not sure when I can afford to buy a new one.
Steve: I have rated this module mature because of the violence. Most of the action is between undeads, demons and angels, but there is a few cruel scenes involving innocent humans that have lead me to chose this rating.
Magus45: Thanks for the vote! The priest cutscene breaks for time to time for a reason that eludes me. He is supposed to be eaten by the mummy in the undead plan of existence but sometimes he runs of (even if I set him as an immobile creature). The fact that the cutscene will work one time out of two is very puzzling...

im just wondering how do you get the priest to stay in the undead existance i talked him into going but he seems to fade out when he gets there.

Great mod played this awhile ago when i didnt have an acount ( my comments are usually under the alias "Mysterious") only one begging questiong which probly annoys you because so many ask it how are the sequals to orcs and maybe the breach ( both are AWSOME MODS MUSTPLAY!)
I have the hakpak but when i launch the module it says that hakpak missing..
Help me, please.... _________________________ Come on I'll fight you with my crazy asspanking style!!

massively enjoyable. A really different style of game- laods of character to it, very cleverly put together and just the right size for a long evening's play.
Can't find fun in this :( So I won't vote.
I find really excellent the work on this and the scripts. The story and characters are funny. But too hard.
And always this cutscene with the Priest that blocks, can't do anything the Priest disappears from the Undead Plane and return in his temple without reason.

I am currently using the 1.62 HotU ver and i am having trouble upgrading to ver 1.65. I had to crack my main exe since my cd is too scratched to read. I've tried using the critical rebuild to 1.65 although that might be the wrong approach...(I've also download ver 1.64 twice and twice it was corrupt >.
