Description
Beyond the walls of Frogwash Keep, a menace has crept into the Toadshade Forest from the bordering Northedge Badlands. The Greencloak rangers struggle to hold the Underleaf Crossing in the face of mounting raids from the Cold Bones, a large tribe of goblins, hobgoblins, and bugbears. These attacks pose a growing threat to local woodsmen and merchants. At the command of the Lord Mayor, Captain Yuly Sevars has issued a call for local adventurers to support his Greencloak allies. The talk in Frogwash Keep suggests that Sevars is planning a campaign designed to dislodge the Cold Bones from the Toadshade Forest.
Hey Lariam...still plugging away on those exteriors. I'm going to upload the screenshots after I'm satisfied with the layouts. Talk to you soon.

Hey Mersozz, Very glad to hear you'll be showing up in the FRW forums. I'm sure you'll find a warm welcome there. :) Also, based on what I saw in your NWN module, I'm happy to hear that you're putting some of your talent into developing the exteriors/areas. They can look truly magnificent in NWN2, after all. Cheers, Lariam _________________________ Forgotten Realms Weave

Thanks Lariam. I'll try posting up some screensheets this weekend. Also, I think I'm going to take you up on the suggestion concerning the FRW. I'll hop on to the FRW site and see about joining up. I've already developed a complete (and very small) town that I'd be happy to offer up if people want to use it in their modules. I've come to understand how complex the exterior mapping process for NWN2 can be. That's not really a criticism so much as an observation. It's still just as easy to slap together an area in NWN2 as NWN1. It's just that their is so much more depth to the new toolset with respect to exterior areas that I would feel downright lazy if I didn't put extra effort in.

Great news, Mersozz! Looking forward to seeing the screenies. _________________________ Forgotten Realms Weave

Just wanted to let folks know that my NWN2 module is moving along. The working title is "Into the Toadshade - Underleaf Crossing". I've created the base town of Underleaf Crossing, as well as the surrounding wilderness areas. I'll try to get some screenshots uploaded soon.

This was a short, fun, nicely designed hack & slash module. The visuals looked good, the town was nicely designed, and the combats were challenging. Although it combat-oriented, the module still had personality, and it created a sense of immersion that, while not deep, was fairly well done. I also liked that the merchants weren't laden down with magic items, but rather, that they had a realistic selection of goods. I also liked the customized armor and weapons, which added some nice diversity to the usual goods. My biggest gripe about the module is the lack of a walkthrough, and that's because I'm pretty sure there are at least two or three sidequests that I haven't completed because I can't find them (the sewers, the thieves guild, and something about the Zhents). I also found one significant bug in the spider side-quest. When I meet the Barbarian henchman, she repeats the exact same dialogue about hunting for the owlbear that the ranger henchmen did in Myrky Wood. Also, the thief henchman then repeats her triggered interjection from the Owlbear quest as well. Other than that, there were a few minor issues: some grammar problems, and a lack of diversity among the merchants at the various sidequests (I appreciate the realism, but it's kind of dull visiting merchants that don't sell anything worthwhile). There were also a few dialogue issues where NPCs repeated lines which then didn't make sense (like talking about a quest as if I hadn't completed it after I had). Overall though, I had fun with this module. Well done.

Hi again - you've probably already seen the announcement of the project somewhere (or you'll come across it in the near future), but I thought I'd just let you know that the project is now "officially" looking for more builders & help. There's a news piece at the Vault, and an announcement in the NWN2 forums (the relevant sticky). Cheers, Lariam _________________________ Forgotten Realms Weave

Well, that is a pretty screenie. :) I'm glad you liked the idea of the project. No invitations are needed; just stop by and say "hi". (The "public announcement" that I mentioned is going to be a kind of an advertisement with which we try to lure some more builders to get involved with the project.) :) Cheers, Lariam _________________________ Forgotten Realms Weave

Looking forward to it. I seem to recall that Into the Toadshade looked very good, so I'm excited to see what you can get out of the new toolset with your artistic abilities. As you planned - at least at some point - to build FR adventures that are playable with a single character, yet independent, I thought I'd mention a project that you might be interested in. Check out the Coordinated Forgotten Realms Project (the name will probably change to "Forgotten Realms Weave") in the Neverwinter Citadel. The idea is to create a set of FR modules for NWN2 that are consistent with each other (perhaps also reference each other, possibly even share companions, etc., in some cases, and so on) and provide the players with possibilities for creating unified FR campaigns out of modules that are part of the project. Builders are to retain most of their freedom but are expected to work within some general guidelines (level of treasure, consistency with the emerging "canon", etc.) Some pretty interesting builders are already planning to participate. There'll be a public announcement of the project in the near future, but I thought I'd let you know, as your module plans seem to fit the project perfectly, and you seem to be relatively far in your first module project already at this point. :) Cheers, Lariam _________________________ Forgotten Realms Weave

Hello everyone. Most of you reading this are probably aware that the NWN2 Toolset has just been released (if "released" is the proper term - see the NWN2 Forums for the melodrama that was involved). Anyway, I downloaded the toolset, and have to say that the potential that has been packed into this utility is stunning. The graphics are terrific, but the most impressive part (thus far to me) is the height-mapping in exterior areas, coupled with the nearly unlimited terrain-fill options (different grasses, tinting, textures, shades, etc., etc.,). I have just began my rough draft conversion of "Into the Toadshade" to NWN2. As I mentioned before, I am going to keep the module as a 1st-3rd level adventure. The setting will remain within the Marches of Frogwash area, but the villains, quests, etc., will be modified so that people who played and enjoyed Into the Toadshade for NWN1 have something new. I hope to retain the elements that people enjoyed in the NWN1 version, but create something new that takes advantage of the rocking new toolset. I'll try to keep you guys posted with updates....with any luck, I'll have the new adventure out within 30 days of the release of NWN2.
