This is the sequel to An Ancient Heart, a module set in the Damaran Region of the Forgotten Realms. The module starts with you, the player, as champion of the country you fought so hard to protect. Five years have passed since the events of the first module and Damara has known nothing but peace. When events beyond your control threaten the kingdom, it's up to you to once again defend your country and its people.
Also..erhm..i'm at my wits end at the fuguetive plane puzzle , cabn anyone lend me a hand?

Well , i've played through this module ..I liked it alot , honestly don't believe this should be rated below 8 , but i guess everyone are allowed to do what they wish and aslong as they finish the module instead of quitting at start and rating it crap cause of gear strip , personally didn't see any greater problem in that , However this was along with the first one the first modules i played on NWN ( except the bioware created ones ). First one is good but perhaps not as good as this one , keep up the good work folks , don't let the Champion of Damara grow old :)

Yay! I am glad to hear there might still be chance of seeing a continuation of this story. In my eyes, there's no bigger crime than a tale left untold, and it eats away at me to not know what happens next. Of course, sometimes there are reason why a story might not be finished, including death of the author, but even without that, sometimes it's better and understandable if the author does not finish the story, be it because he just lost interest, or something happened that shook his world view so much, he feels he can not continue the story in a way satisfactory to themselves. In those cases it is best if the author decides to abandon a story, instead of attempting to finish it in a bad mood, and possibly ruin it by a half-hearted ending, as that hurts even more than an unfinished story. And who knows, the author might feel able to finish the story in a way satisfactory to him in the future. I am glad to know that the story of AH was only left unfinished because life demanded your full attention, which is something that I can fully understand. (Congratulations on having graduated to both of you, by the way, even if it's a bit late. :) ). So, I'm keeping my thumbs pressed, hoping there will be an AH3. It's up to you of course, as it is your story, after all. - :) :) :) :) :) :) :) _________________________ Sounds like a job for.... Ta ta ta dah... This is Brandon here, co-creator of AH2. I was feeling nostalgic. It's been some time since we last spoke, Andy and I have gone our separate ways, he's due to be married sometime in April of next year. I think back about how proud I am of how well AH2 turned out, and I'm really sorry about leaving you all hanging on the story. We both graduated college shortly after AH2 was finished. Anyway, here's what's up I'm going to ask Andy how he feels about finishing AH3. I can tell you that if we do it, it will be in NWN2. Beyond that, I make no promises.

Yep, it's polished and smooth. Yep, there are some NPCs with the same names. But gimme a break. This is no sequel. It's everything that goes wrong with NWN follow-up mods. Here's what happens: The designer is now much more experienced, often working with a partner, and wants to try a bunch of new tricks. A nominal "sequel" becomes the excuse for doing so. They design what is basically a first-level mod, and then just ludicrously buff up every random bandit to be as strong as any knight of the realm so as to have it be a 13th-level "sequel." Instead of crafting epic-level challenges to suit the PC?s level, they conduct a lame-o item strip to suit the PC to a low-level mod, forgetting that the sentimental and practical value of treasured items is integral to maintaining roleplaying. (Stripping isn?t a ?balance adjustment.? It?s a depersonalization and revision of history.) Inevitably, they wind up with something that is neither sequel nor original mod, just a failed hybrid. Also typically, it's left unfinished. This game has far more of a developed storyline and coherence than most of its ilk. But it's not a "cliffhanger." It's an experimental game that clearly ran out of time and interest. It "ends" awkwardly and unnaturally--actually, it doesn't even properly end, but rather instructs you how to prep your character for a part two that doesn't exist. As there is no warning of this at the beginning, it counts as a royal screw-job. Didn't somebody attempt to compare this to the second LOTR book? Well, duh--the third book *actually exists*! Not a single significant plot thread or interpersonal relationship undergoes meaningful development, let alone approaches closure, in this abbreviated little experiment. It's solely interested in side quests and gimmicks. It's a narrative failure. It left me feeling cheated, not wanting more. ("More" only raising the specter of uber-buffed hobgoblins and thieves anyhow.) I'm sure we all understand real life intruding on mod-makers' time, but at the same time, they chose to fill this with foreshadowing that remains unfulfilled nearly two years later in game that demands more within two minutes. It's as if AH1 just stopped dead after the Earthwood. There's certainly a lot to admire about the mod technically--it runs very smoothly, has nice little effects, and is very strong on dialogue. Talking and listening matter, which is always a joy. But I feel jerked around by what should have been a nice little low-expectation first-level mod. Instead, I'm struggling to maintain my character while pretending I'm a "champion of the realm" with a cheap robe, a letter opener and about ten cents to my name, and a bona fide rats-in-the-cellar quest to boot. Mod-makers work hard and deserve credit; but players also play hard and also deserve credit. This was just unfair to real roleplayers. A 9.5 rating and a Hall of Fame entry? That speaks far more to what this game could have been than to what it is. It's wishful thinking by the fans. And who can blame them--from the opening strip-for-the-DM scene and unexplained bout of precognitive dreaming, the players are hammered with the necessity to excuse, ignore and pretend it all makes some kind of sense. I?d love to play the story through, but truthfully I wish there is no third sequel. If you want to do something new, just make a new scenario. Don?t try to shoehorn everything into a sequel formula. And again, it will be so drastically different?NWN 2, 3.5 E, etc. As one last smack upside the head of item-stripping: The DM says at the beginning that you can save three items that will appear as random treasure later. My understanding is that that?s a lie and that the items actually only appear in specific chests on the ?Fugue Plane.? I never explored that because I reloaded when I died. (And nothing ever seemed to stop me from doing so.) If you?re going to have a special place accessible only by a highly atypical use of the game?s main functions, you have to say so clearly and up front?especially if that?s where promised ?saved? treasure items go. This game and its read-me file don?t do that.

Finished this module some time ago with my Witch Druid (pure spell caster druid - no melee). For her it was pretty much a cake walk. I was hoping I could play this with a (greatsword) Weapon Master to be. My char is lvl 12, started as a monk... * Minor Spoilers * Found no equipment (just the robe) in the bedroom or anywhere else. Got 5 gold coins so far. Got Sembaron quest (not sure if there is any other quest before that). Went to investigate w Archibald (at least he is equipped). Were ambushed and killed very quickly. Managed to escape Death (at least got to see this new afterlife area) but could not find Archibald and certainly don't have 500 Gold to raise him once back. * End Spoiler * I still don't understand why this module got into the hall of fame. The original campaign despite the vintage is much better and can be considered a Masterpiece to some extent. This however is average at most. I certainly did not find anything exciting to write about when I completed it.

Warning: AH2 is the only first half of a sequel to AH1, and the conclusion will probably never exist. I agree with many other players that the initial item strip is handled quite poorly. Even if you accept the premise (required for play balance), the King's Champion should have several thousand gold and free choice of any mundane equipment (other than perhaps full plate) at an absolute minimum.
