Description
A mysterious halfling Hobart Stubbletoes is found in a small Inn in Ten Towns. He seeks a party of stalwart heroes for a quest to a place of great wonder, with treasures beyond the imagination. Should the party accept, they will be transported to a new place, far from the icy terrain of the Dalelands, finding themselves within the walls of a ruined castle in an unfamiliar land... The adventure is meant to surprise the character, and is conveyed throughout the various puzzles/combats. -Based on the expansion to IWD.
Had a lot of fun playing this mod. I played the Heart of Winter first and then read about this mod in the comments so gave it a try. I played with a Fighter6/Rogue6. Only battle that took me a lot of reloads was the beholders, but eventually got through it. One puzzling thing was the henchman kept trying to run off after a fight to another fight and I had to use follow to stop him. Quirky, but not enough to ruin the fun.

Nice module, I really enjoyed it. I'm a sucker for puzzles and riddles so you won't hear me complain :). I especially liked the one with the gems. I haven't played the Icewind Dale expansion so I can't comment on whether it was a faithful conversion but going through some posts, apparently, it remained true to the original. Some glitches that I encountered:I liked my henchman but he frequently entered a killing spree, attacking friends and foes alike. Though faithful to his character :p, it was rather annoying. Sometimes after some fights he kept on running to attack the closest hostile and I had to command him to follow me. The first area leading to the dungeon had some levers that opened the doors to the cages. I entered one cage and accidentally closed the door and I couldn't get out, unlocking it or bashing it didn't work either so I had to reload. Also, I read your posts concerning the ending but I got to say that it was a little abrupt. Maybe you could work something out. Teleporting to the inn would had been more gratifying. Other than that everything worked out fine. Solid story, challenging battles for my fighter/rogue char, a pleasant way to spend an evening. Well done :).

Hi again Mirgalen, I think I just left a message for you on my SoakJ page! Amazingly enough you are the first person that spotted the fact that that quest is in both modules, well at least said something about it anyway! I shamelessly stole the puzzle idea from Trials of the Luremaster for my SOAKJ module (altering it very slightly!). The big floaty eye creatures are beholders, and the making you go to sleep is a special ability of theirs.. though I've never known it to make the henchmen disappear - that sounds like a new bug. Thanks for letting me know about that one, if I get chance I'll take a look and fix it. Thanks again for your comments!

I have just finished replaying this great module with a CoT. It was a bit easy after "Shadows of a King's Justice" except for a strange bug that wouold make the Barbarian vanish. Gee that Luremaster sure looked familiar (yeah, four knights you said. Didn't I meet you in a graveyard before?) * Spoiler * They are places in the games with big floating creatures with many eyes. They can make a character fall asleep (not sure if this a bug or WAI feature). The trouble is if you fall asleep the henchmen will vanish for good w/o any message log (your henchmen is dead or something like that).

Enjoyed it very much except for some minor things: - the first riddle may be a problem for non native English speakers - had to reload/replay the last battle to unequip henchmen

Just played this with my 13 Wizard - got him to 16. It's a short and lot of fun.
