I have a real problem selecting a subrace, I cannot figure out how to select a Drow, though I clung to the manual

Its all here for the hack and slash fans but don't go this alone or it may be a short trip. Having said that I do not want to underestimate the role that both arcane and divine spell casting plays in this mod It can deal a great deal of damage in one hit.
The idea of powerful subraces is a great one and tools up your character to cope with the tough melee and combat scenarios. Area design I thought great and combat generally balanced out well thogh much tougher I thought in the earlier stages. For me a couple of minor hiccups with the henchman set up put my playing style slightly off centre and the fast respawning in the middle stages of the mod did pose an unexpected tactical challenge resulting in some fast footwork on my part to save my henchman from her impulsiveness but this is not a mod to miss

Ok
I have just finished playing this sock it to 'em mod. My character ended as a greatsword weilding dragoon Paladin (15)Champion of Torm (15) with enough gold and goodies to have a real wing ding of a party which ought to run until the next chapter for which I would like to book a reserve a front seat for.
POSSIBLE SPOILERS
I had a couple of minor issues the first relates to the henchman problem which I mentioned in an earlier post. I could not get the Shard the Ancient Quest to go to completed mode. Shard respawned on me, I killed him again and got the 5 keys from around his neck, unlocked the treasure chests again no joy
Being a little absent minded I tend to rely on my quest list as a memory jogger. Some of the later quests (and I apologise for nor being specific which I know is irritating to mod builders and developers) revolving around the patriach didn't log as quests so I wandered around the game a bit until I rechecked back with those concerned.
On the playing side it is probably a bit difficult for me to give an accurate analysis of this as I did not get the right henchman to give me a set of complementary skills for maximum effectiveness. However the closing stages with the lady paladin whilst in a skill sense a little one sided proved a fairly straightforward experience. I liked the henchman dialogue options (a refreshing and useful tactical tool) however the spellcasting options were a little restricted. However for my part I am already flexing my fingers and oiling up my mouse for the next time I shall play this.
Many thanks to commche for this sterling effort

Commche
This seems like the ideal post to go blathering on about my own mental shortcomings as I approach senility and decreptitude. I have managed to solve the missing key problem by retracing my steps. Hopefully you won't hear from me again until I have completed this new version of the mod. Any future stumbling blocks will probably be solved by the use of the trusty old gin bottle and in moments of utter desperation a decent claret. However to avoid posting any any further self deprecatory remarks an email address would be handy if you could spare the time
Thanks

Having safely notified everyone of my ability to regularly head scratch and pull my hair over the most simplest of puzzles I now will heap fuel on that particular fire by pausing at the next stumbling block. I am in the King's Cavern holding Great Keys #2 & 3 (One of which I obtained froim the chest in the corner after kicking the collective asses of a couple of Old Green Dragons) In the preceeding area there is a locked casket which I cannot open/find a key for.
I am unable to open the first of a series of doors facing me in the area I am currently in. Any clues would be appreciated before I start saving for a wig.

Duh!
Forget about the puzzle solution, I've solved it with the aid of a gin and tonic. However the henchmen comment is still a problem for me.

Hi
I am well into playing this mod now and have been thoroughly enjoying it. However, I seem to have come to a grinding halt. In reading some of the earlier posts here I notice that in previous versions the keeper riddle room has been a stumbling block. I also percieve from the comments that my choice of character Paladin /dragoon (12) Champion of Torm (4) may not have been the best one however before launching on my problem I will mention in passing that in Starfall's Academy I am only able to hench (is that a good verb?) the Paladin or the fighter the cleric and mage keep telling me to raise my henchman and dismiss them first so I am stuggling a bit to have the right balance of skills and keep having to use resurrection scrolls. Sorry more of that later after I finish this great mod
SPOILER WARNING!!!
In the castle sewers I have come across the room with the 3 numbered phylactery plinths and two locked doors at the end of the room. In my usual bull in a china shop mode I have pulled all the levers and entered three doors recovering a number of coloured gems. These seem to conform to the clue on the noticeboard in the form of a riddle in the preceeding room. I have attempted to place them in the order in the clue but apart from getting zapped everytime I place the gems on the plinth(s) nothing seems to happen except me using up my healing kits. I have done the obvious stuff anything more subtle than this has been overlooked.
END OF SPOILER
Have I hit a bug or is there something I have missed here to get one of these doors to open??
Many thanks
Cobweb

Well, apparently leaving coming back and hitting the all switches
uh, Spoiler:
Left one Far Right one Near Right one END of room one opens the door....I don't see how that could be learned from the riddle....maybe I'll read it again.
Anywhos I got to the part where I'm about to storm the goblins. I found a 'glitch' My character has an appraise skill of 21 (with intellegence boost ...) He can BUy items from the Elf Merchant for 1425780. and sell them for 1618021....which is a profit margin of 192241, And it is even greater from the ogre merchant in the woods, Who I sold a Ion stone to for 28520 and bought it for 12555 which more than doubles my money. Each time.
Noticed that I couldn't portal from the temple in the first town to the elven village....But i could from the dwarf palace, haven't tried after getting the elf stone (this was right before then)
Anywho currently my build is Fighter 16 Sorc 1 RDD 10. I would've liked to know no devestating critical earlier, like in the readme or somewheres.
I am using a greatsword, I think the Sorc/wizard boots might be a little better than the Hero boots if you already have haste and you stats +12 from the Hero Cloak and that ring from that quest and from your subrace.
Of course I have a defense of 64-66 (I've been experimenting with gear so it varies) without a shield. The boots give +10 Soak 20 and the armors all give 20/physical resist. So Does that rip off 40 damage or what? I still died once when 2 Ithids somehow managed to stun me prolly rolled a 1, I thought the 2400 exp penalty and some amount of gold was a paltry price to pay, Cuz I got the XP back in like 6 kills. and well gold is infinite at this point.
So in short I am dissapointed in the Hero's boots and saddened that I can't upgrade them. I was also wondering what the attack and defense values of the creatures in the game are.
Anywho for the download size this so far has been a great module. I would prefer if I could use my PERSUADE skill and search skills to do things...
Due to the lack of storyline branches I have been less than fully interested in reading the dialogue. I've really been just nodding it thru.
Also I thought after fighting Giants and Dragons and the like ending with GOBLINS was odd....Don't we usually start with GOBLINS?
The Epic Dragon Summon dude the Dragoon gets died like 20 seconds after I summoned it, And while it was alive it was casting Magic Missle or something that was pointless.
I just think it is a little messed that a Goblin yields more experience than a dragon.
Anouther bug glitch weird I noticed is that monster groups sometimes stop spawning, like I couldn't find any Frost Giants and White dragons by the time I was getting the ingredients for the Dwarf Queens robe. (I bought some)

Started playing the mod, currently at the room in the sewers with 8 levers 5 spawn monsters and 3 open doors to more levers.
Anywho, the thing that is beefing me the most about the mod currently is the fact that all the dwarf subrace allignments were "chaotic" and you need to be Lawful to be a Dwarven Defender...
That and allignment doesn't affect anything else.
So I tried it as a Dragoon Red Dragon Disciple....curently Fighter 4 Sorcerer 1 Red Dragon Disciple 10. Would've prefered Bard but again ALLIGNMENT. Both Sorcerers and bards a defaulting to Chaotic, so I was wondering what made you decide that the Dragoon should be LAWFUL?
So I would have the Dragoon move to Chaos and the Silver Dwarf move to Lawful....or an explanation as to why you think different.
That and some sort of hint/answer on how to get thru that room....I read the board....The riddle is too long, I can't tell what is important, if it all is than the puzzle is itself too long.
If it isn't then the puzzle is too hard. I personally hate riddles. If I was a lvl 4 fighter lvl 1 sorc, lvl 10 RDD and had a greatsword ....I'd Bash things that asked me riddles.
Comon let me make an Inteligence check here.

Commche,d/l ed this quite a while ago, will play it now.Might be a good idea to put your name on top of the Read-me,tried to search by title Dragon`s Bane to see if updated, but search function seems to fail if there`s an apostrophe in the title.Crazy, but even with a lot of titles with a form of "dragon" in the title, nothing shows up. Anyway, just a thought for people searching for this one(I`d forgotten your name, so couldn`t search that way).Thanks.

There is a post on page 2 that deals with this. I have emailed you a solution anyway.
Commche, I'm stuck with the lever puzzle
"red blue green
one two three"
I opened all doors that lead to 3 levers, but am lost from there. There is a glowing orange dot in the center of the rune circle.
What should I do? _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.
When's the update coming? I was thinking of downloading this today.

Commche, with 2-bladed swords being supported, are their custom 2-bladed swords in this module? _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

Make sure you type "Dragoon" with the capital 'D' or "Morphlord" with he capital 'M' and so forth to enable the subraces. You must spell them exactly as they appear in the Readme.
The stack overflow errors and the looting problem are related. Did you follow the "Installation" instructions - the first part of the readme?
I have cut and pasted the line that should help you from the readme.
b. Unzip the database file into your C;/NWN/database folder
also tried making a human morphlord druid. no stat bonuses, either.
also, i'm still having "error stack overflow" in my dialogue box. did i download an updated version of this mod? i thought it was already in previous versions.
just started this mod. i'm done with the first trial. however, i'm not getting the dragoon sub-race. i made a human lawful fighter, typed dragoon as sub-race but didn't notice any stat bonuses nor a talisman.
also, in the first trial. corpses were non-lootable. is that supposed to be the case?

Drizzt was a drow too! Opps...you told me not to say that :P
Yeah I see your point. Not all vampires are "evil" and I have eliminated demons from the full (and completely overhauled) version due for release within a few weeks. Technically, druergars and Drow are evil, but you might find youself an exception, a drow or druergar who decides that, in fact, there is goodness within.
Yeah, mod isn't too anal about alignments as such. Hope it doesn't put you off too much. Just focus on the insanely fun hack n slash / upgrade your gear action, and you should be fine.

I don't know if this is told, but you state "The dialogue indicates that the hero is not evil" and there are subraces like drow, demon, duergar, even vampire.I don't think they are suitable for this module if dialogues aren't for evils.
And please don't say Drizzt was a drow too.
Instead of these evil subraces, there can be moral subraces.
I'll download and see how this module is now.

Rawbee, I haven't updated this for a long time. I was, however, talking about the full version due to be uploaded within the next 3 weeks. There will be new content, finished story, completely overhauled encounter engine, Creature and Henchman AI, improved performance and both single and multiplayer functionality. It will be a completely new submission and this one will be deleted. _________________________ Modules: Shadows of Darkmoon The Arena of Champions Dragon's Bane

Thank you for your opinion lewbowski. Yes the new version will be power play oriented, but should provide plenty of challenge. The subrace system also has a real added fun element to it, changing the gameplay considerably. It is fully functional as a single or multiplayer game, with a few added features for multiplayer. I think you will greatly enjoy the henchman system which I spent a great deal of time developing. If I ever have the time to rip the system itself out, I will submit it as a seperate download package on the vault. I'll wait and see how ppl like it.
