This is the prologue for my campaign 'Adventures in Erania'. The player character has just arrived in Erania and spotted a wayside inn. The prologue is designed for first-level characters. It contains two quests and one fight. My main intention with the module is to give the player a glimpse of the land of Erania. Chapter One of the campaign will feature the towns of Joyhill and Oakenside, more than a dozen quests, an evil cult and lots of memorable characters. This is version 1.1.
Steve, what happened to contacting the mod author about bugs and errors so he can fix it for you? Instead of insulting the mod and giving it a "1" ? You demand a lot of extra work from authors, i've noticed (ie: having them email you modified versions because you can't handle item strips or level restrictions).
Your abuse of your title at this website has reached new levels.

Fatal error - I can't believe I spend close to an hour on an 556 KB prologue that I needed to redo over again. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

Nice little mod. Not much to do, but what's there works well. The fight was ok for my lvl 1 rogue.
*Spoiler ahead:
Do the items you get have any meaning in chapter 1 or later? I mean either the gem or the picture?

I meant "NO glaring problems or bugs to be found".. lol typo.

Solid start. Nothing spectacular, but glaring problems or bugs to be found. Interested to see where it will go. Will give Chapter One a shot! =)

Very nice world set up. I liked the way you had people available to tell the character about the world setting.

I am not entirely sure how to rate this module. This prologue does everything that it attempts to do quite well, but it doesn't attempt to do much at all. Indeed, I wonder exactly how necessary it is. However, playing the prologue will net you a level up, as well as some information about the world, even though most of that can be found within a few books on the second level of the inn. The two quests were utterly basic, but the one fight that ensues does come as a bit of a surprise.
All in all, the content here is slight, giving the player about a half and hour of play time at best, but it does lead nicely into the next module, which I have found so far to be delightful.

A beginning to a good story. No it is not a very original story but the author's know how to tell a story that you want to hear and play!
This mod is awfully basic and won't give you any idea about how chapter one is gonna be. The only interesting thing is a bit of setting background here and not much else a part for an encounter. You can easily skip it. If you want to play know that the mod is nothing like this at all and know that this one has a good point. It's very short, like half an hour of playtime. _________________________ The hottest new modules you can't miss - player suggested

A good solid bug free begining for the series.Professional Area design.

Very short, as prologues go, but a nice introduction into the world. Some good dialogue and 2 nice and short quests that are a bit more original than your atandard "go-kill-the-rats-in-my-cellar" things for level 1 characters. _________________________ With magic, you can turn a frog into a prince...

Nice interesting module. The quests given are interesting. Good storywriting, gives a feel for the world. Look forward to the sequel.
Thanks for the advice, Orpheus. I've added the info you requested. I hope you liked the module.
I can report that after a long time spent doing other things than modding, the first chapter is moving on towards completion. I'm getting some invaluable help from BW board regular The Overfiend.

Very well done NPC's and great writing! I very much look forward to chapter 1!

I am downloading the module right now; my humble plead is that the "hack'n'slash", "roleplaying" and "tricks'n'traps" fields are filled in so that we can have some kind of idea about what we're going to be playing.
[I'll probably post an opinion after I play this mod'; please do not feel aggrevated, I mean no hostility or irony in this post, just a sincere request for (future?) mod's; in any way, I wouldn't be posting if I weren't interested in the mod' :)]
Thanks,

How's it going? Looking forward to the main part of the module. Good luck.

Good job. Mad wizard's a bit too tough for your level, though. Nice work on the characters.
Wow, thanks for the praise! And thank you for your comments. Regarding female characters, alas no, there is no one to give the item to. I couldn't quite work it in, and I wanted to get the module done quickly. I'm planning to make an update, so you never know.
I've been tinkering a lot with those conversations you mentioned, Alcarin. Especially the bad guy caused me some trouble. I'll go back and work on that too. And I'll see what I can do about the area size.
Thank you all again. I hope to have Chapter One done in a month or so.

I also enjoyed this module.
I typically play female characters too, and wonder if the next chapter might have more gender-specific options/dialogs in the future.
Otherwise, I really liked this little mod. Will also echo the last person who said the area was perhaps a bit too large. In fact, I cheated and gave myself a Haste item so I could move from place to place in the area a bit easier/faster.
But that's being a bit picky on my part. I did think this prologue was well done and enjoyed the dialog and beginning storyline. Hope to play your next effort(s) when they get uploaded.
Nice job!

I like this little demo module. The area was a little too large for its own good but not horrible. I recommend that you keep an eye out for keeping area sizes down in the future, essentially, nothing much larger then the main area of this module with more content in it. Other then that one quible this is a good module, good foundation, of which I hope to see more. Thanks for building it up and putting it on the vault for people to play.

This was a fine little prologue. :) I didn't find any bugs with any of the scripting, the journal or the quests.
It was definitely a refreshing change of pace for a story, as well. I typically play a female character (being female), but I decided togive this a try with one of the male characters I have.
Question: If I had played a female character, would I have had someone to give a certain item to? :)
Minor Spoiler ===
I do suggest one thing, however... some of the 'final' conversations (with the halfling and the bad guy after you fix the farmer's problem) move to quickly. I didn't get a chance to really read what they said while still in the dialogue boxes before they either left or got to fighting. Slowing that down a bit will help.
I really look forward to Chapter One and if things seem as good as this, I'll play through the whole series, or whatever you plan. :)
