Description
This is the first chapter in my series 'The Chronicles of Lone Wolf', based on the Lone Wolf gamebook series of the '80's.
This module was revised as of 8/7/2005. To play this module, you will need to create a new character, using the custom Kai Lord class provided with the module. You will also need to make your character Male, and use the name 'Lone Wolf'. This is done for story purposes. Other than that, you are welcome to customize your character as you see fit.
The Kai Lord class grants you one special feat per level from a 'Kai Discipline' feat list. You will have to use this extra feat on the Kai Discipline list. Please refer to the in-game descriptions for the abilities granted from these Kai Disciplines.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me at [email protected]

Overall I agree with the crowd. The author did a good job recreating the Kai Lord powers and the World/Pantheon. The scripting and use of cutscenes is pretty good too. The story however is quite linear and there is little if any reward for the player (limited sense of achievement).
5-6: A good effort that fans of the style will find worth the download

Very nice! I like the idea of playing through the whole module at level 1; it keeps combat from getting too easy. And one of the riddles made me think for a bit (which is depressingly rare). Good job!

Still playable in 2011 (annoying cloak system, though). A great start to what promised to become a truly superb series. Part two is even better. Regardless of it being the end of the line, I can still recommend this to anyone looking for a quick, light, linear adventure. Small bugs and annoyances take the score down a notch.
To sum it up: a real classic that died before it's time.

Ohh ya. About not getting installed. If you want I can maybe upload the needed files in other format.
Does anyone know where the scripts related to feats like healing etc are located? _________________________ Neverwinter Balance Patch Balance Patch

This seems more like an introduction to the Kai lord modules rather than a full module in it self. Still a good play. A true roleplaying module, ahead of its time. This is kind of sad than the whole series was not finished. _________________________ Neverwinter Balance Patch Balance Patch

I've tried to install this mod but it doesn't seem to be working. I DLed the exe file and when I run it, it asks me if I want to install. But then I say yes and nothing happens. Anyone have some advice?
Thanks

Giving XP on a per kill basis is... well, silly. It forces you to harvest XP by slaughtering hordes of monsters.
This is also episoal, or was supposed to be. There are two modules, but there were supposed to be 10. You start at level 1 on module 1, level 2 on module 2, and so on. Every "story", aka, module, advances your character one level.
Also those levels are more major because its a custom kai lord class that is:
1. More powerful than regular dnd classes.
2. Gets a kai lord power every every level via a custom feat (like heal that gives you regeneration, or telekinesis, or mind attack / mind defense... _________________________ I do not have a superman complex; for I am God, not Superman!

For anyone wanting to open the two Lone Wolf modules in the toolset you need to fix the classes.2da in the LW_Main_2da.hak extract classes.2da and edit entry 32, label Kai_Master the column that needs fixed is the SavingThrowTable the entry CLS_SAVTHR_DIVCHA needs to be changed to CLS_SAVTHR_WILD or some other valid entry when you've made that change you can then put it back into the hak and you should have no problem with the toolset crashing. (If your looking for tools to do this NWN has a hak editor in the utils folder and if your careful you could use notepad to edit the 2da or use an editor from the Vault there are several available)

I've just finished it and loved the story. Before I play it, I had no idea who the lone wolf is. (And I'm calling myself a RPG-FRP fan, huh?) It is fascinating and well-made for all means. But I was a little dissapointed, 'cause I started to play in lvl 1, and finished it in lvl 1 too. 0 exp, 0 lvl, 0 reward for completing the story. (It's not a bug, is it?) It's just like reading a great book. But if it is a game, there have to be some reward to make sure it will worth playing the game(!). Thanks anyway, and I hope you'll go on with the series.

Still a great module, playing these again after many years of being away from NWN. It would be nice to be able to open the module in the toolset, though, so I could correct the cloak issue. I guess the HAKs prevent that by causing an access violation error.
How is one supposed to install this mod in a Mac/Linux OS?

Hi,
Enjoyed this mod. and looking forward to the second installment. The only "Lone Wolf" that I ever owned was book #5 the "Shadow on the Sand" by Joe Dever and Gary Chalk. (Which I still have.)
Just the facts from Max

Plays like a good movie.
THE GOOD
.Dialogue really shines, and combined with strong characters, cliche but effective events, make it superlative in this module.
.No XP for kills encourages alternate task resolution (e.g., stealth works in the Lord of the Hill), as well as the use of abilities which might normally have been shunned because they soak XP (e.g., using an Animal Empathy Dominated animal).
.Key characters show strong personality, if rather archetypical.
THE BAD
Miscellaneous observations:
.Overall, this module could still use some polishing and debugging, but the flaws do not break the game, and will generally not be noticed. For example:
> Storm Hawk has Kai Test dialogue in the Master's Barracks when he should not be there at all, but in the Tower of the Sun.
>Blank journal entry "JT_THE_TEST_OF_SPIRIT".
>Riddle answer variants need to be accounted for more. E.g., Steps vs. footsteps.
.Constant prostration before the Grandmaster was a bit much.
THE WIERD
.Due to update 1.68, the cloak given to the character has a second Bioware cloak flowing in and out. Did not notice any problems per se, however, so it's probably just cosmetic.
OVERALL
If you enjoy something like Harry Potter for the interplay of characters, definitely download this module. The first part is composed of what could be called juvenile drama, and I really wondered if the students ought not all be using halfling models (to make them "teens") to reflect the age they act.
The second part, the serious test part of the module shows excellent alternative-to-combat-resolution scenarios that very rarely appear in modules. Just to play through those is worth downloading this module.
I'm told that I must have Shadows of Something installed before I can play this module.
I've installed ALL of the refrenced "hakpacks," and still recieve this error. Can anyone offer me some help please?

Dont confuse character development with character LEVELING... there is plenty of development.. and you do level, one level per module. And with the custom CLASS, Skills, Feats, etc this truely becomes awesome.

Wonderful little mod with a nice Harry Potterish/Jedi Knight storyline, if you are looking for something other then hacking & slashing demons and goblins, this is the mod for you, though I can imagine some players having issue with the fact there is no char development or leveling making it more an adventure then a rpg. Nonetheless I was very impressed, bring on part II.

Just one question, the module description says it works on all versions, but the hakpack says it needs both expansions. Do I have to use the hackpack, or can I play the mod without it?

Hey, I'm having a problem where during the Test of Fire, everytime I enter the middle room in the giak cave the game crashes. I've tried entering the room from all three doors, and I even replayed the module up to this point, thinking that perhaps my save had been corrupted. Long story short nothing's working so fair; any idea what might be going on here? I'm running NWN 1.66 with SoU, HotU, and CEP all installed. Any advice you could offer would be much appreciated.
Also wanted to say that I played the original modules and had a blast, but from what I've seen of this redux so far you've blown the originals out of the water. Except for this game stopping bug, this is by fair the most fun I've had playing NWN in quite some time; I can't wait for LW3.

You can't take ambidexterity or two-weapon fighting at with the Kai Lord class.
In addition (I assume this is unfixable) you need at least Wis 11 to create a Kai Lord.
I wonder ... would this class work with the character creator?
