It has been roughly three months since the bloody stalemate of Whenthorns field (where Whispers of Rebellion ends). You have spent that time in the forests of Stilldrenn, the home of the Lightwind Legion, your Legion. Upon returning, you were inducted into the ranks of the Hand of the Light and made an officer. You have spent much of your time training, though you have aided in the formulation of several of the plans that the Hand is about to put to use. YOU WILL NEED THE HAK PAKS FROM THE FIRST TWO MODULES IN THE SERIES TO PLAY THIS MODULE.

Avoid.
Clearly half as good as chapter 2.
Pros:
+ Visuals and documentation
Cons:
- Everything else
The gameplay was tedious and often counter intuitive. I still had my CE barbarian working for "paladins" with no chance of switching side. Henchmen AI was a nightmare (they tend to pick wrong weapons shield combo) and not follow orders (e.g. hide, hold, follow me...).
The Action/Fun was seriously lacking. First somehow the author made the module feel like a chore except perhaps early on partly due to the missing henchmen. Combats were IMHO highly unbalanced. I had to reload far too many times for such a short trip and given that I a fairly well equipped pure barbarian. We were often outnumbered by scores of "bad guys" of similar levels and equipment. One boss kill my PC with two critical hits. Tough luck you may say but it was twice the level of my char. Last but not least, the final had 9 lvl spells spells and could wipe out everybody with a simple time stop + weird combo (DC 28). At the end you have to rely on pure luck or cheesy tactics to win. If I was playing a rogue or bard may be but not barbarian who goes bersek and charge "by definition".

Unfortunately Ι could not finish the story. Although Ι killed all the guards on the outskirts of Kahleem, when I talk to Stephen telling me that have stayed alive two. Where are these two; There are two dead pets in the area belonging to the guards. I can not attack them. This is a bug; Pity ...
However it is a nice continuation of the story ... _________________________ Everything you do has a meaning...

I really enjoyed playing the series. There were a few quirks that I encountered along the way. Like it really did matter which order you added henchmen to your party. The only things I would have changed would have been to slow the pace a little bit and allow a bit more interaction between the party members. Great job. I hope Chapter 4 is coming but since it's been so long since you've posted here . . .

Great mod, it was great leading a small army of my own. Great improvement over the first two parts. I was sorry to reach the end!

That module looks great, even if it's a bit linear.
One question, though : once I get into the mines to attack the nasties from behind, shouldn't I be able to take Shorty or Kate as henchmen ? They don't even answer if I talk to them, as if they didn't have a dialogue file. I looked up in the toolset and they do have dialogues, but they don't appear in the game.

Just got done playing this module. I have to say that each installment is better than the one before. I look forward to the release of part 4.

Breath-taking scenery. The story really takes off and actively involves you, putting you on the edge of your seat. (*sigh* if only we could've have some of the henchie selections we had available from chapter 1, but we digress.) No screen treks to speak of (yah!) the story zipped right along. Thank you, and great job! Is there really going to be a chapter 4, if so, we'll be there, ready and waiting to help and aid our henchies to SAVE THE WORLD! (That's what we do ya know.) ;o) _________________________ Does this armor make my butt look big?

Enjoyable, albeit sometimes *very* linear story (it does get a bit railroadish at times), good use of tilesets and placeable, some nice fights.
Huge improvement compared to the first two parts, really loking forward to part 4! _________________________ With magic, you can turn a frog into a prince...

Just finished this module and was quite impressed -- this is a *dramatic* improvement over the first two chapters. Night and day.
I did encounter moderately significant bug, however. When I leveled up, my henchmen did not. I received the following error message (in yellow text): LevelUP Failed for [henchman name] in class 8. This happened each time I levelled up. I am running HotU v.1.66 and have nothing in my override directory.

NOTICE, AS OF August 10, 2005: It says in the readme that I will be remaking the first module in the series before the release of the fourth module. This is no longer accurate, as I find myself with less and less time to work on NWN-related projects. I have decided that it would be more prudent to finish the fourth module and finish the series now than make anyone who wants to know how the story ends wait even longer while I rewrite the beginning. I may finish the revamped first module, but it is more likely to be put aside until NWN 2 comes out; I plan to make a remastered NWN2 version, and perhaps take the story further along from there.
