Description
Desolate and abandoned, the evil alchemist's mansion stands alone on the cliff, looking out towards the sea. Mysterious lights and ghostly hauntings have kept away the people of Saltmarsh, despite rumors of fabulous forgotten treasure. What is its Sinister Secret? In this module, expect a mystery with a focus on exploration and role-playing. There will be conversation and exploration in pen and paper RPG style aplenty, as well as danger. This DM Version is based on Oraweb's NWN mod of the original U1 The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh. Arawen has added new features and content for DMs who wish to run the game in a more improvisational pen and paper style. This package includes her version of the mod, a 25-page PDF DM guide, maps, DMFI Wands & Widgets and a sample DM character. New DMs may find the package a useful tutorial for learning pen and paper style NWN DMing. The DM Guide includes guidance for running the module both as a short one shot game and as a mini-campaign.

I really enjoyed playing this module. It was one of my first modules owned as a kid. I would like to see the town of Saltmarsh come to life more. It was a little bland, but the haunted house was really well done. That pebble drain really sucked! I'll be Dming this one for sure.

Good job!
GREAT atmosphere in the haunted house. Great series all around.
Thanks!

because I played Oraweb's original _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

Is it HotU friendly?

The module has been updated with DMFI wands and widgets, a PDF DM guide and a few small tweaks.
Enjoy!

Hi,
False Alarm. After checking the code, I just wasn't getting close enough to spot them (and staying in the trigger for the heartbeat).
See if the group I play with has better luck than me :-)

Hi,
One of my groups were going to play through this module so I gave it a bit of a test run today and the old implementation secret doors made it a bit hard to progress :).
Are you considering doing a quick update anytime soon?
Posted by Arawen ( ..xxx.xxx ) at 2003-06-28 22:03:00
The version you downloaded of this mod predates the DMFI wands package. It does have a full set of wands including a DM Helper, Emote Wand, Fx Wand, Dicebag, Faction Wand, and Conversation Toggler. These are described in the module documentation.

I downloaded the module, moved the bic and mod files to my modules directory, loaded it, but no matter what I do, the wands fail to work for me. I would have thought that everything had been set up from the go for using the DMFI wands, but am boggled by this issue.
Any help would be appreciated. This is a first effort by me as our group looks for a different DM, so have patience.
Thanks

An updated version has been uploaded to Neverwinter Vault.
It has a very useful DM feature, a conversation toggler
wand. This wand, created by Jason Robinson, enables the DM
to turn off and on any NPC's scripted conversation at will.
The DM Guide, sample DM character, and the mod have been
updated to include this change as well as other
improvements.
Thanks everyone for your feedback and suggestions!

Nice work Arawen! Say, are you going to continue with the
series and make U2 a DM friendly mod too?

WooHoo! Yeah!
And Final game coming up soon too!
